APPEARANCE
EYES: Green
HAIR: Brownish Blonde
HEIGHT AND BUILD: 5’8, stouter than her sister and stronger as well
FULL APPEARANCE:
Unlike her sister, she doesn’t give a single hoot about her appearance. She works hard, and will let herself get as dirty as needed. Since she’s worked with kids of all ages, most ‘gross’ things don’t bother her. She instead just makes sure she cleans herself and her belongings as needed. She keeps her hair trimmed short so she doesn’t have to worry about it getting tugged and pulled, or arranging it nicely for anyone.
She doesn’t really CARE about fashion or clothes looking nice. If they’re comfortable, then she will wear it. Her family jokingly says that she dishonors them by doing this but they always have a good laugh about it when they bring it up. She does work hard to at least be presentable if something important is happening but otherwise it’s a nonissue.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Georgia is a caring and careful individual. She likes to make sure people are safe and taken care of before she thinks of helping herself. This, obviously, can lead to problems as she can get too deep into the problems of others and forget to care for herself. She also can come off as overbearing and annoying, but she knows when to back off IF the sentiment is expressed. Otherwise she can be a little oblivious to the fact that she can be a bit much.
She’s a people person, and loves people of all ages. She also has an easy time socially maneuvering around people who can be less than agreeable. Georgia usually does this by either keeping out of their way or doing her best to try and appeal to their better nature. It doesn’t always work, but she’s always willing to get back in the proverbial saddle with them and keep trying to get them to open up.
Intra-weyr politics is a touchy subject at times. She loves the weyr and doesn’t want to see it or the rest of Pern go to ruin. But she also feels like she is too small at times to make a real difference by herself. Still, she tries her damnedest to keep the world at peace in her own way, be it by working hard or passing on kindness to those who need it.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Larena Upland (mother, seamstress)
Josteph Arduenna (father, historian)
Glinda (Sister, Dragon Candidate)
BIRTHPLACE: Igen Hold
HISTORY: Georgia’s life was always one full of hurry and rush.
She was born to Larena and Josteph, and was a very vocal child. She found herself growing up and helping babysit the children of her Hold by the time she was 7 turns old. Georgia, unlike her sister, had no big dreams for the future. No aspirations for greater things. She simply wanted to help raise the holdbrats and enjoy the fun and excitement they’d bring. Glinda was the one with big dreams of being a fancy Master Seamstress or whatever. And Georgia couldn’t help but want to protect her sister. She babied her a little, admittedly, and maybe spoiled her like her parents did. She had no idea that perhaps she was being a bit… much.
But the day came when Glinda had to leave for her apprenticeship. It was a sad day but Glinda promised to write as much as possible. Tearfully, Georgia bid her sister farewell, and they parted ways. While Glinda worked hard to learn to make dresses and clothing for the people of Pern, Georgia remained at home, learning to read and write and assisting in the informal education of the kids. And life was good. She had food, shelter, good friends and family to keep her company.
There was an event at Igen, a time when Glinda would come home and the sisters could finally spend time together. But it was also that time that a dragonrider came to be among them, a relative of one of the holdfolk. Their dragon was quick to sniff out the two sisters as potential rider material. While Glinda was NOT quite into the idea at that moment, Georgia was more than intrigued. She’d never CONSIDERED dragonriding before and realized that she could do so much more with her life if she tried it. Fighting Thread sounded scary, but still the idea of protecting her family in such a grand was appealed to her. Besides, if she didn’t Impress, she could always come home and continue life here as a caretaker. And if there were any children interested in Dragonriding, she’d be the first to tell them what to expect. Of course, her parents were surprised, but proud to see their daughters as potential rider material.
Gerogia took less than a day to get ready to move out to Igen Weyr.
Of course wasn’t all bubbly pie. Things had been tense among the Weyrs, and while Georgia had heard about things, she hadn’t always paid attention to it. Now she was sort of in the thick of it, and so she had to pay attention. She did her best to learn all she could, worried for her sister and all the people she knew at home. Only when Golre and the entire regime was tossed out the window did she even consider moving there. Of course, she made her excuses not to go, always just insisting she was happier here at Igen. But she’d heard that things were getting better at High Reaches. That things were safer now.
So she finally swallowed her nervousness and transferred there when she was 18.
Things felt so weird… She’d heard so many bad things about High Reaches but it seemed mostly normal, if not tense among those who’d lived through the chaos.
But after a Turn of living and adapting, Georgia was settled and treating High Reaches like her home away from home.
