- Ron Weasley

RETIRE INFO:
Ron: Adopt concept, retire profile

NAME: Ron, also goes by a variety of nicknames including Ickle Ronnikins by Gred and Forge, and Won-Won by those unfortunate enough to think him appropriate suitor-material
GENDER: Male
PRONOUNS: He/him/his
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual

BIRTHDATE: Early Spring 2744
AGE: 23 as of Late Summer 2767
LOCATION: Semaca Weyr
OCCUPATION: Candidate, Apprentice Dragonhealer
WING: N/A

APPEARANCE
EYES: Blue
HAIR: Fiery red
HEIGHT AND BUILD: Tall and lanky, 6’3
PLAY-BY: Rupert Grint

FULL APPEARANCE:
Tall, gaunt and lanky, Ron has a monstrous appetite and never seems to put on any weight. He suffers terribly from Beanpole Syndrome, where he tends to turn sideways and disappear. Fortunately this is countered by his mother’s abundant and delicious cooking, although life does have a habit of getting in the way. When he can eat he will, and when he finds the time to tuck into Molly’s meals, there he is.

With a shock of bright red hair- a family heirloom of sorts- Ron stands out whether he likes it or not. He keeps his wavy locks short, though he has a tendency to look a little messy and unkempt regardless of his efforts. Freckles liberally splash his once-boyish face, now angular and mature with the fading of youth. With glints of red stubble across his jawline and covering his lip, this young man seems to be trapped somewhere between boy and man, still awkwardly averting his brown gaze and speaking quietly. He has thin lips and a rather prominent nose, and pale skin which is prone to burning. Ron looks nothing if not well-worn and pasty, but will manage adulthood well if he can put on muscle and fill out his frame.

He dresses sensibly for most occasions, and disdains formal wear (who has the time, really). It’s all a lot of silly nonsense, isn’t it? When he is forced into dressing well, he has a debonair sense of style as long as his mother hasn’t picked out his wardrobe for him. He has often been the unwelcoming recipient of all of his brothers’ hand-me-downs, and his expectations for garments and fashion is very, very low.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
What drives Ron to do the bare minimum of work each and every day? Well, in all honesty, life is just going to take a big dump on you anyway. Look at all the in-fighting amongst the Weyrs? Look at the dragon wars, Thread-fighting, at the Holdless… let’s be real here- it’s kind of awful. On so many levels. And whilst Ron does care- he really does, somewhere deep, deep down- he just doesn’t want to be bothered with the bad stuff. You’re going to die anyway- may as well keep your blood pressure down if you can help yourself.

In reality, Ron isn’t such a bad guy. He can be quite pessimistic- he has grown up expecting very little from people, and in return offers very little of himself to others. He can be loyal and true and brave to the people who have earned his trust and affection, but mostly he just cannot be bothered dealing with it. Everything has its way of working itself out in the end anyways, right? Yeah, exactly. It’ll come through in the end.

Having grown up with many siblings to contend with, Ron has gotten used to lurking in the shadows as one brother or another stole the spotlight with their accomplishments. Though his parents are Good People, he always lacked a little for attention. He knows- painfully and fully aware- that he has jealousy issues, but he does his best to keep them buried, and wears a lazy, cocky smile on his face to hide his own fears. His self-esteem has plateaued at rock bottom for a little while now, especially as his family members and friends have all reached levels of success whilst he has stagnated. He pushes himself to make the best of a bad situation, but is very self-critical in private. He should be better- he can be better… but somehow he is still struggling for that sense of purpose and belonging.

Ron has a surprising amount of skill despite his own internal criticism, but his lack of confidence often manifests as slapdash work and minimal effort. If he found a reason to apply himself, Ron would be driven, perhaps even ambitious, but his motivation and aspirations have reached a comfortable zero. He doesn’t believe he can succeed. He doesn’t really think he’s good at anything- hence his lack of trying. In times of crisis, he transforms into a dependable young man, ready and willing to do whatever it takes, whatever is needed… but outside of those live-or-die moments, he truly lacks the willpower to make more of himself than what he feels is his allotment in life- sloppy seconds.

That isn’t to say Ron isn’t friendly- in fact, he’s quite a social kind of guy. He likes to have a good laugh- at other people’s expenses, preferably- and he’s always down for some genial ribbing between friends. He makes a good conversationalist because of his interest in social activities- he’s a little bit of a gossip, really- and whilst he cannot stand braggarts or arrogance, he manages to be somewhat content when people talk of themselves. He has an easy-going sense of humour that borders on prankster, but even in that department he feels overshadowed by his siblings. Ron is happy to leave the plotting and scheming to others, and so falls back on quirky comebacks and quips.

Unfortunately, Ron is also a little bit unaware of the impact of some of his jokes- and doesn’t quite understand the depths of other people’s feelings. As he is inclined to shrug off most of life’s bad jokes, he expects most people to do the same. That people are niggled by his tactlessness and thoughtlessness comes as quite a shock to him. Gentle scolding and frequent reminders that he is, in fact, one of the few members of society with a stony heart serve him- and his friends and family- well.

He has nurtured a fondness for dragons from a very young age, which was what prompted him to enter dragonhealing as his Craft. Though not a brilliant student by any stretch of the imagination, his (now dwindling) passion for the art of healing does show a more tender and caring side to him. He does care- just more about dragons than people, he supposes.

Ron is a young man with a very unwavering set of opinions and principles. Having been raised as a long-standing Weyrbound family, his views of Holders and Crafters border almost on hidebound, though he has shown himself able to change his mind when presented with logical or undeniable proof. Sometimes doing the right thing is hard and difficult, but even Ron will forego his usual laziness to ensure that it is done properly- if it’s really important, anyway… and as long as there isn’t an easier solution to it.

Possessed by explosive anger, Ron’s very rare outbursts can lead him to do reckless and stupid things- like picking fights that he can in no way win, or throwing himself into danger regardless of the risk to himself. His temper is a rare thing, but he is extremely protective of his friends and family. Don’t threaten them, and everything will be fine.

His biggest fear is not being loved, valued or needed. Oftentimes Ron feels adrift, caught up in whatever or wherever life wants. He is scared that people will eventually replace him when they realise he isn’t that good at anything, that he’s just a hanger-on, just another forgettable face… He desperately desires to leave his mark on the world in some way- even if it’s just finding something he’s good at, or making someone happy, or even just changing the world one radically lazy notion at a time.

Hey, a guy can dream, right?

HISTORY

FAMILY:

SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Still has the emotional range of a teaspoon
BIRTHPLACE: Ista Weyr

HISTORY:
Born second last, and the last son of seven children, Ron grew up surrounded by family. Molly and Arthur were good parents- making the best of their situation, really- but Ron’s childhood was filled with very little. Everything that he wanted to do, everything that he showed an interest in- well, his brothers had all done it already. Ginny, as the baby of the family as well as the only girl, was doted upon, beloved by all, and cast an impressive shadow. It was all fine, really. Ron coped with the hand-me-downs, the second-hand-everythings, the lack of attention, but he didn’t exactly… thrive. Each day became about finding a small ray of sunshine in an otherwise mundane and dull existence.

When he was able to properly set off and explore- without Molly fussing over him hurting himself or getting lost in the Weyr’s many tunnels, and without his brothers’ oft unwanted attention or supervision- he found himself drawn to the dragons of the Weyr. He knew he wanted to be a dragonrider- shells, their family had dragonriding blood right down to the bones, if the stories were to be believed. He wanted to spend more time around dragons, so haphazard attention in Harper lessons became somewhat forced as he did his best to find out what was needed to join the Healercraft and specialise in dragoncare.

At twelve, as was the norm, he apprenticed with little fanfare. He imagines that his parents were proud of him for his decision, but they were so busy trying to ensure Gred or Forge didn’t blow up the bathing caverns or set the dining hall on fire that Ron will never know for certain. So, quietly, he began learning dragon anatomy and physiology, realising that he had absolutely no head for records or learning but unwilling to give up just in case it added another mark to his failure-count.

A little while after his twelfth Turnday, Ron was gifted a firelizard egg that hatched an adorable white flitter- that his sister promptly named Pigwidgeon. Pig proved to be a hyperactive heart-melter and a high-flying nuisance to boot. Secretly, Ron adores him, but he would never admit to it out loud.

Eventually Ron turned fifteen and elected to Stand for candidacy. Gred and Forge were candidates too- infamous amongst the lower cavern folk for their shenanigans- and it was no secret that Ginny, too, sought to Stand when she was old enough. When he was sixteen, Gred, Forge and Ginny all Impressed at the same clutch- even though Ginny herself had not quite made fifteen yet.

It struck him hard. All three of them, Impressing and moving on with their lives at the same time… and there Ron was, dividing his life between candidacy and dragonhealing. He was glad only for the few friends he had made during his time in the barracks- especially Harry, who had his own sort of magic energy going on, who was always up for a laugh. Okay, so maybe Ron was a little bit jealous- most people seemed to prefer Harry to him, but it was something he could deal with. He would deal with it. He did deal with it.

When his mother decided to transfer to Semaca, following Ginny, Gred and Forge, Ron decided to go along as well. He had been Standing for eight Turns now, and neither he nor Harry had any luck at all. Perhaps they would fare better at Semaca somehow… He lives in hope.

What type of candidate is your character: Dragon

What color/s are you willing to impress to?: Any.

What color/s does your character want?:
Ron is not so secretly desperate to Impress- although he used to dream of Impressing Bronze to show his family he was capable too. Nowadays, he’ll take any dragon who would have him.

Do you/your character have any personality preferences or concerns?:
No concerns! Ron might have some in-game concerns about having a bloodthirsty killer dragon, but he is pretty easygoing (besides which, he has learnt to live with Pig who is the antithesis to his calm laziness, so he could deal with anyone if he sets his mind to it).

Do you/your character have any other preferences or concerns?:
Nope!

Why do you think these choice/s would be a good fit?:
I don’t really know why. I really would like to see Ron Impress rather than age out. I’m honestly fine with any dragon. <3

Do you have any preferences about the conditions of your character’s impression?:
It would be nice if he could Impress with Hermione and Harry, but other than that I have no real preferences. Having him Impress last would probably cause more sweat and tears on his part.

Are you alright with your character getting hurt? What injury level is acceptable/what should be avoided?:
Minor to moderate injuries- nothing permanent, but a few months recovery whilst trying to study would be quite a thing for Ron to deal with.

Is there anything you will ABSOLUTELY NOT accept?:
Everything goes! Happy to see what will happen in the future. <3

PIGWIDGEON
Image coming soon!

BASICS

NAME: Pigwidgeon, aka Pig
BIRTHDATE Late Spring 2756
AGE: 11 as of Late Summer 2767

APPEARANCE
LENGTH: Very small
HEIGHT: Very small
WINGSPAN: Very small
COLOR: White

FULL APPEARANCE:
Pigwidgeon is a teeny-tiny little ball of adorableness, all roly-poly cuddly limbs and tiny wings. His hide is a base shade of snowy white, speckled by flecks and streaks of sooty grey, with a few hints of what appears to be some kind of muddy brown. It’s easy to think that he may have rolled in someone’s hearth, at some point, or a puddle… but Pigwidgeon keeps himself fastidiously clean. His face is almost completely ringed by a deep black, which also lines his eyes- making them appear much larger than they truly are.

He is surprisingly agile in the air, despite his strange proportions and conformation. He is often found nestling in Ron’s hair, or zipping about without a care in the world.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
A bit of a show-off is Pigwidgeon, who prefers to demonstrate just how awesome he is rather than do anything Ron asks of him- at least, not immediately. He’ll get around to delivering that letter sometime, no problem… but first- have you seen this latest whizzing loop-de-loop? He’s loud and exuberant, often chirping or chattering just for the sake of the extra noise.

He’s quite eager to please, despite his more showy habits, and always wants to do well by his Ron. Though loyal to his bond, he will accept food and affection from pretty much anyone who offers- bar those who upset his red-haired human. Pig doesn’t really understand the concept of personal bubbles- anywhere is a good place to perch, really.
