FULL APPEARANCE:
N'emi is on the tall side for Pernese women, which has a habit of making her stand out more than she wants to. Her height is almost perfect for hiding behind Hallowneth's leg, though, which is often her favorite place to stand. She keeps her hair trimmed around chin-length to keep it from getting too much in the way during flight, often using little hair clips made out of carved stone or bone to keep it pulled back away from her face.
N'emi is most often found in the blouse and slacks she wears underneath her riding leathers, enjoying powdery blues that match Hallowneth's markings and other such frivolities when she can find them - not wanting to spend too much on dyed fabric. They're also the simplest things to find and tailor in her size and shape.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
N'emi is Shy, with the capital S being very intentional. While not necessarily uncomfortable around groups of people, she keeps her opinions and feelings to herself within them, and can come across very quiet and reserved. Hostility makes her cringe and shy away, which is the major reason she doesn't bring up what she's thinking - people's reactions can be intimidating! Which can be unfortunate, as she's actually a quite level-headed and intelligent individual, with a mind for strategy and efficiency. She very much enjoys problem solving, but is afraid to present solutions to anyone, since as a general rule people don't like being told they can do something better or the way that they're doing something isn't perfect.
N'emi will often fall quiet mid-conversation and seek solace or support from Hallowneth for a few moments, whether he is present or not. Some might call him a bit of a crutch, but he's also become her backbone, and the wordless reassurance is sometimes enough to get her through a situation that might otherwise see her retreating or shutting down entirely.
N'emi's favorite hobby is reading, and can often be found in obscure places nestled up in a corner or against Hallowneth's side reading something. Sometimes she dabbles in writing her own, but is afraid to show them to anyone. She's not a scribe or harper, after all, and they're the storytellers.
HISTORY
FAMILY: The Creche, Younger Brother Koumori, Green Dragonrider mother
SIGNIFICANT OTHER:
BIRTHPLACE: Telgar Weyr
HISTORY:
N'emi was born in Telgar Weyr as Nezumi, the daughter of a female dragonrider and male weyrfolk. Her parent's relationship was almost wholly physical, and had little to do with love; her father moved to a different weyr when she was in the single digit turns of age. She kept to herself for the most part, did well in her studies and grew like a little weed. When her little brother came around just after her father had officially left, she took to watching over him in particular.
Nezumi didn't really stand out very much other than her height, and while that sometimes made her a target for picking on, it was often curtailed before it could become a problem. Eventually, some of the other kids realized that if they had an issue (how to earn or save some coin for an upcoming gather, settling a dispute, assistance with homework), that the tall quiet girl could help with it if they didn't spook her, and that helped her gain some esteem among her peers.
Nezumi became a candidate at 15, and really didn't expect much to come of it. She cringed away from every dragon that walked her way, the booming voices in her head (from dragons and whers in general) often startling and scaring her. While she did very well at her candidate duties and chores, she stood for two years before her Hallowneth found her. He was just as quiet as she was, but far from shy, and a solid rock to bolster her often-flagging confidence. When he shortened her name to N'emi with one of the few words he spoke, she kept it.
With all of the problems seeming to follow Fort and the other more southerly-located weyrs, Hallowneth and N'emi felt they could be more help there. They bid her brother goodbye with promises to visit, and transferred to Fort Weyr upon graduation to join the Aurora Wing.
