"I can see clearly now, the rain has gone;
I accept all the things that I cannot change;
Gone are the dark clouds, the dawn has come;
It’s gonna be a bright, bright, sunshiny day."

BASICS

RETIRE INFO: Retire.
NAME: Zelaya
GENDER: Female.
PRONOUNS: She/her/hers.
ORIENTATION: Biromantic demisexual.

BIRTHDATE: Spring 2751
AGE: 16 as of 2767.
LOCATION: Fort Weyr (searched from Gar Hold)
OCCUPATION: Candidate, apprentice weaver
WING: N/A

APPEARANCE
EYES: Pale green.
HAIR: Long, chocolate brown, held back in a loose braid and ribbon.
HEIGHT AND BUILD: 5'4"; slender and still growing.

FULL APPEARANCE: Zelaya is slight and delicate, all gentle beginning slopes and softness wrapped up into a bundle wholly unfit for a rigorous or harsh life—if you go off looks alone. Her parents seem to have spared no effort or expense in sheltering her, providing for her above and beyond the necessary, and it shows in a wide, doe-eyed innocence, and an openness less common, especially after the Interval War and the advent of thread. Long, soft brown hair and sea-green eyes make her a sweet young beauty, and the lack of any ostentation or put-upon airs gives her an earnestness that most young ladies who are aware of their...advantages...lack.

She dresses entirely properly, no hint of flirtation at all in her floor-length dresses and numerous skirts. Even the heat of summer is not enough to strip her of her carefully chosen layers, and come gather-time, the only changes she employs are richer fabrics or finer embroidery, and perhaps a slightly nicer hairdo. There will be no flash of an ankle or swish of a skirt here, thank you very much.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Zelaya is everything her mother and father say she should be, and they do say a lot on that note. She minds her appearance, but does not fixate on it. She does her duty, but does not demand praise for it. She obeys her parents and those of higher rank, but is not cruel to those beneath her. She is a very proper young lady, and does everything expected of her...and little more. Life for her has been near to mundane, enough so that while she's begun to occasionally look outside her little circle of the world to see what's going on, the safety and routine of her home has kept her securely tethered. She struggles to imagine any life other than the one she has, and while she is not thrilled at the prospect of simply working on her craft, minding her manners, and eventually growing up and marrying whomever she's supposed to fall in love with, she isn't unhappy about that outcome. It worked for her mother, after all, speed bumps aside.

She does know that she was an unexpected child, but is not particularly bothered by it. A firm upbringing kept her quite fit to the mold, and she has developed strict ideas on what is and isn't proper for a lady to do, even if inside a few things about that might feel slightly off.

Beneath her quiet submissiveness, she has a steel core, a resolve to thrive that far outstrips most of her friends' and companions'. The return of thread has threatened her home and her livelihood, even stolen her mother away, but while she might be expected to crumple and weep, instead she has simply begun to shoulder more responsibilities, working tirelessly to salvage what she can of her life, and to soldier on in the face of her father’s growing coldness.
Pros: Gentle, unassuming, traditional, resilient.
Cons: Quiet to the point of silence, naive, yielding, hidebound.

HISTORY
TW Death of a parent
FAMILY:
-Hagers, 45, father, a craftsman at Gar Hold. Estranged since search.
-Raya, 42, mother, deceased 2757.
-???, sire, an unnamed and unknown rider at Fort Weyr. Possibly deceased. (Actually Negan but shhh she doesn’t know.)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None.
BIRTHPLACE: Gar Hold
HISTORY: Born of a night of overdrinking at just the wrong time, to a visiting holder woman, Zelaya was unplanned, but not unloved. Her mother barely knew the man who got her pregnant, and embarrassed at her perceived gaffe brought on by wine and a rising gold, she failed to even pause to get his name the morning after as she fled back to her Hold. Loyalty to the Weyr itself, and the more conservative nature of her home meant that she did not give up her child when she found herself with a daughter, and thankfully her husband was kind enough to adopt the girl as well, giving them a complete, if unusual family. She grew up well loved and protected, kept mostly to their isolated Hold and away from any visiting riders (as her mother had come to think somewhat unkindly of them, in a misdirection of her own complicated feelings).

As she grew she fell into weaving, as it was easy for her slender and nimble fingers to work the fine threads and needles of the craft. She lacked the physical strength to delve into the creation of heavy tapestries or larger projects (at least not on her own) but a soft and patient touch made her just right for fine embroidery and needlepoint, and she spent hours uncounted working to master the tight loops and stitches necessary to turn a common piece of garb into a work of art. Or, at least, to work towards being able to do so one day.

Born near the end of the Interval War, to a minor hold that was more or less unharried, thread's return was the first real hurdle in her life. The dragons turned out in force, and though their home hold was saved, sadly her mother was not. The excitement of it all threw her mother into a fit, and her heart gave out, supposedly from fear. The fact that it was actually a latent heart condition that made her mother's heart too weak for such excitement was never uncovered, and the idea that her mother died because of a fear of thread has left Zelaya exceptionally wary of ever being caught out during a fall, if also imminently respectful towards the riders and dragons that guard Pern against it.

Her father, now left alone with a daughter that was not his own and a broken heart, slowly cooled in demeanor to her. While it was clear that he would never turn her out or break ties fully, her resemblance to her late mother left his heart aching. And some turns later, when a searchrider came hunting and offered her a spot in the Weyr, she took it at her father's urging. He couldn't bare to see her mother's face each time he glanced at her, and though it meant leaving all she knew behind, the Weyr, she realized, would give her a chance to repay her perceived debt for all they had done and given to keep her small hold safe, as well as letting her spare the only father she had ever known more pain. For them she had to go, even if in her heart she never desired a dragon of her own.

What type of candidate is your character: Dragon

What color/s are you willing to impress to?: Any and all.
What color/s does your character want?: No preferences.
Do you/your character have any personality preferences or concerns?: Not really. I think she'd like a kindly dragon, or a more calm one, though frankly I think one that's got a stronger temper might help her to adapt faster, and one willing to encourage her to take more risks and break out of the mold of 'lady' would be good. Honestly though, I can make anything work, and they all offer unique challenges.
Do you/your character have any other preferences or concerns?: Nah.
Why do you think these choice/s would be a good fit?: 'Cause reasons. Really though, like I said, calmer would fit her as-is, and though less-placid would spark friction, that way lies development. Either way.

Do you have any preferences about the conditions of your character’s impression?: If the match is right, it's right, timing non-withstanding. That said, I'd be more than fine with giving her a round or two left standing to really sink into her and develop some history/ongoing friends/rivals/whatever, first.
Are you alright with your character getting hurt? What injury level is acceptable/what should be avoided?: BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! Anything's fine. Rather she not die, but y'know? Things happen.

Is there anything you will ABSOLUTELY NOT accept?: Not really. Pretty chill about the whole deal really.
