Sola of Blue Kalenoth

This? This is merely a consequence - and you cannot be held responsible for consequences, because consequences are infinite.

BASICS

NAME: Sola (Soleille)
GENDER: female
PRONOUNS: she/her/hers
ORIENTATION: wink

BIRTHDATE: Winter 2741
AGE: thirty-three as of Late Summer 2772
LOCATION: High Reaches Weyr
OCCUPATION: rider
WING: Moonshot

APPEARANCE
EYES: Brown
HAIR: Black, mercilessly curly
HEIGHT AND BUILD: five feet and six inches, well muscled and curvy
PLAY-BY: Anna Shafer
FULL APPEARANCE:

Sola is a rider's rider, through and through. She tends to wear more neutral tones on a day to day basis, and she rarely wears dresses. Her flying leathers are meticulously cared for, if worn from a decade of use. On the other hand, she is partial to ornamentation, particularly in her hair. Even when she forgoes elaborate braids and her hair is left to its voluminous glory, she usually has some sort of hair ornament.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:

Sola likes to hear herself talk. She's learned a lot in her life and she relishes the chance to share her vast wealth of knowledge. Why, she should have become a teacher! Never mind that her communication is, well, abysmal. She'll spout her knowledge without much care as to how well her audience understands what she's saying, and if called on that will find the most convoluted way to insult that person's intelligence. It's hardly her fault no one else is as 'cultured' as she is!

That so-called 'culture' includes random knowledge about herb lore - some of which the newest apprentice could recite, some gleaned from older masters (but, it must be noted, she would have very little experience with. Knowledge and experience are two vastly different things, after all!) Knots and leatherwork are some of her special interests, being a rider, but she'll sit and listen to any lecture she happens to have the time for. She's an honest listener, too, and won't badger anyone for knowledge they aren't willing to give or pretend to befriend someone for nefarious purposes.

The thing is that she does have a decade of practice being an effective rider, she does know what she's talking about, and you can learn interesting things if you care to engage the nonsense. She'll get the job done. She might even improve the process by implementing her random knowledge. She just probably will not make a whole lot of friends on the way.
HISTORY
FAMILY: nah brah
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Who could choose such an ephemeral and fleeting thing as a significant other? No, better to let such things run their course, and move on.
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
HISTORY:

Soleille was born to a pair of riders and bundled off the creche like any other child of riders. Her parents were happy enough to hand off her raising, and she grew up surrounded by aunties and uncles. She was a late talker, not uttering a single word until she was nearly five and asked - in a complete sentence! - for one of her dunderhead siblings to pass the bread.

Attentive enough at lessons, she truly preferred to sit in unobserved corners and listen to people talk. The things she learned by doing that interested her enough that she had no qualms about taking to the Sands when she was old enough for such a duty. Lessons continued, and life hardly stopped for Fort, despite the political turmoil of the world. About her third Turn of candidacy she decided that she would shed her unwieldy birth name when she Impressed. If she Impressed.

A Turn later, at nineteen, she utterly failed to Impress a fire lizard when the candidates found a little clutch of eggs. That looked like a grim prediction of her future success, though, until she was twenty-three and starting to look at possible career paths if she aged out. It was starting to be a real concern, but Kalenoth put paid to that notion as soon as he hatched, third of his massive clutch.

Why would you have such a complicated name? Pick something better. Your Kalenoth demands it.

It was so decreed, and Sola dropped the birth name that hardly anyone used anyways. She and Kalenoth made it through weyrling training to graduate into Daylight Wing. They were not a perfect rider pair, being far too convinced of their superior opinion, but they got the job done. Thing was, well. Sola had been a candidate with practically all the weyr's leadership, from Tuckal to Esther, and she didn't particularly like where the weyr was headed. When the Titans left for the Summerlands, Sola and Kalenoth debated joining them. Sola was the one to decide against it - far too risky.

But when the Trailblazers hatched and left a body count behind, that was too far. Sola had stood for the Curses, she knew what it was to stand on a Hatching Ground while one of your fellow candidates got killed by the dragons you were all hoping to Impress. And that mess with the gold? Sola wanted nothing to do with that. She transferred to High Reaches a few days before the Trailblazers were poisoned.

High Reaches was different. It took time to adjust to the idea that she had any say over the leadership of the weyr, but Sola took the time to learn the intricacies of the Council. Politics had always been one of those things she listened to people debate until she had a pretty solid opinion formed. High Reaches politics were interesting.

And so Sola and Kalenoth settled into their new home. It wasn't without pitfalls - their wing had a terrible time keeping a wingleader, Threadfall could get so rough that Moonshot earned the nickname Moonshit, and the wings went from so small they had trouble fielding a full Fall to large enough that an outgoing Council split the wings! But for the most part, it was easy to fall into the rhythms of a fighting rider pair at a working weyr.

The thing that nearly sent her back to Fort was the theft of the Princesses clutch. That a member of their elected Council could have orchestrated such a horrendous thing - and Sola absolutely believed that Schneizel was responsible for the theft - was a bitter pill to swallow. She stayed because the weyr did collectively oust the entire Council for the crime, proving that 'rule of the people' was not just a pretty phrase. Her decision was rewarded when the young goldrider of the Nightwings clutch was offered a transfer rather than allow her a desperate grab for power.

High Reaches was different. Every day proved it.

Kalenoth

See, the difference here is that I'm right, which makes you wrong. And boy howdy are you wrong.

BASICS

NAME: Kalenoth
BIRTHDATE: Summer 2762 (Cosmic)
AGE: ten Turns as of Late Summer 2772

APPEARANCE
LENGTH: thirty-three Feet (33 ft)
HEIGHT: eight feet and four inches (8.25 ft)
WINGSPAN: forty-nine feet and six inches (49.5 ft)
COLOR: Blue
HEX CODE: #0c1592

FULL APPEARANCE: Kalenoth is on the small end for blues, small and speedy. Otherwise, he is pretty average in his proportions, and steady on his feet. He is a dark, ocean blue over his entire body, his wings a brighter, more precious-gem colored blue, with the tips more of a cornflower color. The tip of his nose is pale as well, like he stuck it in flour. There are bands of the lighter color around his hind ankles, going up in blocks over his back thighs, and there is a thick band around his neck, with two blocks going up towards his head, probably following the splashes of color by his eyes.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Kalenoth has a very... firm sense of what is right. While he is normally a pretty easygoing blue, if someone steps out of his rigid sense of morality, he turns bitter and angry. He can be rather insufferable during his angry swings, and he will get snappy and snarly. It will take a mountain of evidence to get him to calm down and realize that the thing he thought was bad is not actually bad, or that circumstances made 'bad thing' necessary. He can be very sweet and supportive when not harping on people for doing bad things.

To his rider, Kalenoth will need patience. He can give support, and kind words, but he will voice his opinion at the worst and most annoying times. Middle of the night? No, he's gotta tell you right this second that something is on his mind. He does find humans interesting, however, and there are days where he favors humans over dragons, even if he can be a haughty tart about it. That said, he can be a huge dork. A well-meaning one, but definitely dorky.

HATCHING

Clutch: The Cosmic Relay Clutch (Cosmics)
Dam: Gold Keahith (Lanian)
Sire: Bronze Eoreanth (M'rnei)
Hatching Number: three of twenty-one
