Daedra

BASICS

NAME: Daedra
GENDER: Female
PRONOUNS: She/Her/Hers
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual/Demisexual

BIRTHDATE: Born Spring, 2745. (September 5th for Earth time)
AGE: 29 as of Spring, 2774
LOCATION: Heading for High Reaches Weyr
OCCUPATION: Wherhandler, but always happy to help as a scribe and with the children when free.
WING: Windsong Squad

APPEARANCE

EYES: Blue
HAIR: Red
HEIGHT AND BUILD: 5'0'' Very petite
PLAY-BY:Original OC art
FULL APPEARANCE:
Daedra is noticeably small and petite, making most tasks a bit awkward for her to complete. With generally roundish features, she has a relatively youthful look despite being well into adulthood. Her bright hair is surprisingly long and can be coil-y when allowed free, which is why Daedra keeps it separated into three sections. Each is held with a bright blue ribbon: two beside her ears and one at the back. Surprisingly with her small size, she has a noticeable curve to her hips, in comparison to the rest of her light frame. Daedra tends to dress very casually; pants with leather accessories and a cotton shirt when working, and casual dresses outside of those times.
PERSONALITY

PERSONALITY:
Daedra's personality usually matches her most common expression: bubbly and happy. Gentle and sweet, she's the type of person to find the good in any situation or person. She's exceptionally fond of nature and the creatures roaming it, always happy to take a moment to appreciate a small flower blooming on the road or a grass snake with a lovely pattern upon its back.

She's very hard-working, wishing to find her place in the world and be as useful to it as she can. Such things are easier said that done, however, as she can be a bit clumsy, despite always trying her very best. It's also not hard to know how Daedra is feeling at any given moment. When happy, she's laughing brightly but should she be sad, it's very hard for her to remain composed. She can be very prone to crying in such instances, getting her the title of 'cry-baby'. Also, never ask her to lie: she's awful at it. In such instances, she's better off staying silent than saying anything beyond what is true.

Daedra is relatively innocent minded, finding a lot of joy in simple things. While not stupid by any means, a lot of things can go over her head if not said a bit literally. She enjoys learning and is a very avid reader when able. She is also terribly fond of children, and not so secretly would like some of her own someday.

HISTORY

FAMILY:
Mother (Aliya) – Scribe turned Holdless/Shunned (Whereabouts currently unknown)
Father (Vadarin)– Holdless/Shunned (most likely deceased)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Available - she is very cute~
BIRTHPLACE: South of Greenfields, near the coast of the Big Bay

HISTORY: TW: Violence , TW: Abandonment
Daedra was born Holdless, along the seacoast of the Big Bay, after her parents managed to sneak from their expected-eternal residence of the East Ring Islands. Both her parents gained the terrible status of being Shunned long before her birth. Having been young and conceited with their own talents, they devised a plan together to steal dragon and wher eggs from their current residence at Fort Weyr. Daedra's mother, being a well-educated and talented scribe, would inform her compatriot of the lineage of each egg and then alter the records so the more valued ones could be taken and striped from the accounts. With such prizes, they could sell or trade them to other Weyrs or personal buyers and live as they pleased. With the accidental death of a fellow craftsman upon discovering Vadarin in the act, and the heavy crime of altering the very history of the Weyr, both were sentenced to spend the rest of their lives as exiles. Branded forever upon their brows and stripped of any past and future acknowledgment in any hold, they were sent far to the East Ring Islands to remain for the rest of their lives.

The two eventually returned to the main land, in hopes of doing more than wallowing on their intended residence. Upon reaching shore, her parents chose to split ways, in hopes to avoid notice as Shunned, covering their brows with shawl and band. From this point on, Daedra and her mother would travel by any means necessary, never staying in one place too long. Always in camps and on the road, it was a hard life, but many took pity on the woman and her daughter traveling, some even rarely choosing to ignore the blue mark that sometimes slipped out from the older woman's hood.

Daedra was taught all the skills her mother learned as a scribe. Reading, writing, and any math that would help her in life. Daedra was always delighted to learn and even loved the traveling, getting to see so many wonderful places and people. Eventually the two settled into a trading caravan and stayed with them for a number of years. The collection of travelers were more interested in making money than judging two women stowed at the back of their wagons. Plus, a hidden scribe was always handy to help keep accounts of finances and receipts.

When Daedra was roughly 10, having wandered too far into some fields to play, a large mountain cat decided to make a meal of her. Luck was on her side that day, as the feline were quite discouraged, when a feral wher chose to make a meal of it instead. Daedra, not realizing what had happened, simply assumed the beast had rescued her intentionally, and instantly became enamored. The wher was rather old and a brute by all definition, but she adored him from that moment. The brown wher had no interest to eat such a small thing after having his fill of fresh meat, but it wasn't hard for Daedra to tempt him shortly after to return back to the caravan with her.

No one but Daedra was happy to see him, though all remarked how it was unusual to see such a beast of the wild on his lonesome. Packs were what meant survival in the wilds. Yet, due to much persuasion, a mutual benefit came about for both parties. The brown wher, grouchy as he was, enjoyed the scrapings of food and easy meals he received from Daedra(mostly) and the traders, and in turn, he provided the best protection the caravan could hope for. Being advanced in age, nature had tested him many times in the art of survival and he'd always passed. No one could smell unwanted visitors or 'persuade' them to leave as well as the brown wher could, and his presence was most valuable for finding shelter from oncoming Threadfalls. For years, this was the agreed pact; he kept his distance but stayed close enough to be of use and all persons would offer him food and his own protection by association. All except Daedra, of course, who would shower him in verbal affections and treats and not be deterred by him at all.

Until now, her mother could never her offer her much in terms of physical gifts, but only the knowledge and skill to live on her own. However, on Daedra's 18th nameday, when she was finally of age, her mother offered her the ability to be closer to her dear wher friend than she could ever imagine. With a prick upon her hand, Daedra set it upon the brown wher's head and she finally learned his name as an impressed wher – 'Drask'.

The years went on, Daedra eventually traveling alone with her mother and Drask once again. The younger was quite content, seeing nothing wrong with spending her days with her parent and the wher, both of whom she adored. However, her mother wanted more for her child and knew an impressed wher was meant for more than a personal companion. They had spent all this time living through such hardships, because of a crime that Daedra had no responsibility for. Feeling it unfair and knowing they had been far too lucky until this point, she urged her daughter to seek out a Weyr to find work. It would give her the stability and greater chance for success, things she would otherwise never receive being trapped outside of society.

Daedra was very adamant not to go, to not abandon her only known blood relative, but eventually could not go against her mother's wishes. Having heard of the sudden changes happening at High Reach, her mother urged her to go there. With the ease on tradition, there was a strong chance that they would not turn away a misfit in possession of a wher that could be of use to them. With heart felt tears and sorrow, Daedra bid her mother farewell and set off. She knew that they would most likely never meet again.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Drask is a brown behemoth in personality and appearance. Despite being impressed to a human, he still retains all his feral traits, seeming more a beast than a 'civilized' wher. Never be fooled though, instinct alone wasn't enough to allow him to such a ripe age. However, one can never refute the keen sense of smell and intuition of this wher either.

Having lost his packmates through time, hardship, and numerous Threadfalls, Drask has lived a hard life for a long time. This may be why he allowed himself to be impressed, having been swayed by Daedra's incessant coddling and accepting that 'one alone does not a pack make'. He sees her as a new form of a pack now, feeling the 'small and helpless' deserve the protection of the stronger and more experienced members.

Drask is still a bit of a loner though, namely concerning things he sees as 'unknowns'. He does not usually engage first, as he knows himself to be different from the dragons, whers, and people surrounding him. The harsh rule of nature made him what he is, not the weyrs of Pern.

Drask's first responses tend to be growling and asserting himself with roar or flash of teeth. Overall, his general disposition always seems disgruntled, and rather grumpy in expression and body language. Should there be reason, the wher will be happy to show the cut of his teeth, and it's usually not hard for him to find a reason.

He has gotten rather lazy though, enjoying a nap when it suits him or engaging in a fun round of 'can I eat this?'. He can be very food motivated and has picked up the bad habit of eating 'garbage' when he is unoccupied – with actual food or otherwise.

Drask does not speak. He grumbles and growls and mostly always seems bothered. It is unclear if he can speak or chooses not to. Daedra merely claims she 'understands him perfectly fine'.
