With so few veteran candidates left, I'm a bit worried these lessons are about to get really boring, bringing the newbies up to speed. Do you think we can get out of hearing about the dragon colors yet again?

"That's what they're here for, aren't they?" Petraxen sounded off from the bag, cradling their little gold babe with the delicacy of one holding a very soft egg - or a scalding kettle. Honeysuckle was deep in dreamland. "We're all in it together and jazz. Shards, I grew up on this stuff - and it's not my first rodeo standing for eggs, lemme tell ya!"

The new candidate was not as ... fresh as some of the other players in the game. Having migrated from Fort Weyr in what felt a blink in their lifetime, they'd stood and failed many an Impression attempt already.

Careful to not disturb the darling fire-lizard who snored loudly, Petraxen looped a free arm around the shoulders of whoever was nearest. "You! You're ready to hear it all again, aren'thca?"

Candidate Hamuntep - Petraxen

Hamun had - mistakenly, it turned out - chosen the seat next to one of the candidatemaster's children under the belief that they would have some sense of decorum and would know better than to invade someone's personal space. Instead, he was barely managing to contain his distaste for them. They always had their gold flit in their arms, claiming the creature had separation anxiety as the reason for indulging the creature instead of putting their foot down like a sensible person.

Unfortunately, he had to agree the other candidate had a point. "There is always something new to be learned, even from the most basic of lessons," he said through gritted teeth. What he didn't add was that many of the candidates here could probably use the refresher, if not remedial lessons. Hamun, for his part, had looked up everything he could in the records beforehand, intending to be the most prepared of any of the candidates. He shrugged at Petraxen's arm slung over his shoulder, trying to dislodge it.

"Although I do think it would behoove us all if the candidatemasters could issue some sort of exam to see who needs to go over the basics and who can spend that time in self-directed study." A pity there weren't any kind of advanced classes for candidates. Hamuntep was certain he'd be put into one of those in short order if they had existed.
