A sick feeling settled down into the pit of Soonyhano's stomach as this third egg, too, answered him with nothing but silence. For the first time since the Touching had begun, he looked around at his fellow Candidates, but saw no worry on their faces. If they'd felt nothing, as he had, surely there would have been looks of concern.

Once more, he straightened up, trying to force away the worried look that he knew was on his face, even as his stomach seemed to be determined to flop around inside him like a fish dropped on a sandy beach. He didn't approach another egg, but instead the Candidatemaster and Nebulaeth.

"My apologies. I mean no offense by my early departure, but I'm not... feeling well." At least he looked the part, and was already halfway to feeling it. The rejection was clear. There was no chance that he was going to Impress, now or ever. "I hope... I hope the remainder goes... goes well."

He all but fled. He couldn't stay here any longer, not when the other Candidates all had so much hope.

Qanthrin squinted at the striped egg as she removed her hand. "Huh. Feels like there's two of 'em in there. Either that or it's just really conflicted." She shrugged, and prepared to move onto the next one.

Soon enough, Soon had had enough. She turned her head to see a candidate running away from the eggs after touching the Eclipse Melody egg. Part of her wondered if he was okay, or if the dragon was okay. Another part of her thought he was kind of suspicious. "...The bloody hell's up with that guy?" Turning her attention back to the eggs, she thought... she may as well try it. Nobody else ran away from it, but considering that one guy did... maybe, maybe something's up with it.

She lowered her hand towards the Eclipse Melody egg. "Alright, what's your deal? Makin' poor bastards run away like that."

Candidate Aldar - Asking Qanthrin

How fascinating. So unhappy. Aldar withdrew his hand after a moment. He rested his fingers against his chin in consideration. Before he could forget, he noted down the sensation he received again, making sure to take another moment to make rough sketches of the eggs on the page and the designs of each. They were fairly basic since he was just trying to make it clear what feelings came from which of them.

This time, instead of putting it away, he tucked the book under his arm and began to wander again. One of them looked a little... soft, somehow. It didn't have the same firm sheen of the others. Wandering over to it just as someone fled, he studied the Eclipse Melody for a moment. Cautiously, he raised his hand, gently resting a few fingers against the shell for only a breif moment before withdrawing, as if afraid it might cave inward with any form of pressure. "Does it feel safe to touch?" he inquired softly after a beat or two, looking at Qanthrin. They hadn't been warned against it, but that didn't mean that some sort of stressed feeling wasn't coming from it, or that so many hands upon the shell would begin to warrant concern.

Candidate Ephraim-The Lonely Path Egg
Oh... he hadn't expected that. He smiled a bit, patting the top. "Yeah... I get that. I miss my sister. Don't worry. You'll have plenty of company today."

He stood, approaching the Lonely Path Egg. It was a little poetic, going to an egg with that name when the last one he touched conveyed loneliness. He put his hand on the shell, admiring the design on the shell.

Candidate Glory-The Moonlit Fall Egg
She recoiled, expression twisting from worry to annoyance. Well, forsk you too then... What had she done to the egg to make it so angry with her? Glory huffed, standing. Fine, it could stew in it's anger for all she cared.

She wouldn't admit her apprehension when she approached the Moonlit Fall Egg. Despite her decision with the last egg, she felt a deep anxiety in her stomach. One egg was frightened of her, another seemed to hate her already... what about this one?

Candidate Willow-Soon, The Lost Journey Egg
The lack of response from the egg was startling enough, but the expression on Soon's face was moreso. She meant to ask him if he was already, before he stood and left the sands. Willow found herself looking after him, then glancing back to the egg. Was this one okay...? Was SOON okay?

She couldn't ask him now, moving onto the Lost Journey Egg instead. She hummed in appreciation at the colors on it's shell. So bright!

Candidate Akai - The Moonlit Fall Egg, Glory

Well, that was a bit annoying. It didn't seem like the egg really knew what it wanted. He huffed before noticing a purple egg with flowers on it. Oh, that was a beautiful egg, he thought to himself.

As he noticed another candidate walk to it as he did, he nodded to her and placed his hand on the other side of the egg, thinking quietly. This egg.. the Moonlit Fall Egg.. felt nice and comforting. It made him feel calm.

Candidate Penny - The Lost Journey Egg, Willow

Almost as quickly as Willow got to the egg, another candidate was there as well. Penny smiled at the other, waving, "Salutations, Willow! How has the touching been for you?" The red haired candidate offered a friendly smile before moving to touch the egg.

"Isn't this exciting? This is my first ever touching."

Finally, an egg that had made up it's mind! And happily at that. "Nice to see that you're doing well in there, I hope you'll like it out when you hatch." It didn't take Wild very long to move onto the next egg, figuring that it might be better for him to speed through them so that he'd have the rest of the day to think about what he'd felt from each egg. He walked over to the Deep Crimson and put a hand on it. "And a hello to you as well!"

Viiox - Crimson Knot
At first, Viiox was a bit concerned by Lonely Path, furrowing her brow as it paused. Shards, she hoped she hadn't overwhelmed it with her greeting. As the presence poked out, curiously, however, she smiled. That's right, little one, keep exploring. Keep learning.

She gave the egg a pat, before heading over to an egg that seemed to have no one around it. Crimson Knot was a pretty egg, though the rest were lovely as well. Viiox placed her hand on it, smiling down at the shell. "And how are you?" she asked.

The Eclipse Melody, soft as it was, struck out with a flash of utter rejection, to both those wishing to feel for something.

The Lonely Path seemed to slowly show, but there was something worrying about how long it took to pause between its flashes of emotion and curiosity.

Moonlit Fall rolled quickly between feelings. Protectiveness. Inspiration.

The Lost Journey switched again. Eagerness, friendliness, but surely this could not be the same egg...

The Deep Crimson egg seemed to be so shy and reserved suddenly, almost withdrawing...

Crimson Knot put forth an answer, that it was content, and eager to break.

Candidate Merridell - touching Forgotten Calamity

Merridell opened her mouth to say something regarding the Lonely Path's curiosity, but by the time she began, someone else was already there, placing their hands on the small egg before she'd even really had a chance to begin. She faltered and quickly withdrew, always worried about overwhelming the blooming minds with too many touches at once. Her lips turned downward in a frown as she fell back, balling one hand near the center of her chest.

There were too many people and too few eggs. They'd been saying that for a while now, but in this case, too many people were trying to touch too few things. Someone had already run out, and even more were having negative reactions by the looks of things.. was it just too much for them? Maybe they should have come in shifts, rather than all at once. She bounced off of someone as she backed up, turning and hurrying toward another egg with a hastily mumbled apology, lest she miss another opportunity. If she was quick, maybe she could get little greetings in before they were swarmed, too.

She crouched, placing her hand on top of the drip of Forgotten Calamity, her concerns knocking all thoughts of what she had been about to say to it out of her head.

The rejection which pulsed from the egg suited to alarm him, and Aldar withdrew his hand as if having been burned by the minute contact. Thus far, the eggs he had come to contact with had been at least... accepting. Perhaps it was overwhelmed by the double contact? There were any number of reasons. Aldar did not have enough Hatchings experienced to really create a hypothesis.

Giving a parting nod to Qanthrin, he chose to venture from the egg and approach another. This egg, it seemed, was white with red splashed over its surface, almost like a... flower? Glancing at it for a moment, he lightly reached out and touched the Deep Crimson egg. If anyone else were to try touching it at the same time, he would withdraw his hand before they did so, not wishing to potentially upset the unborn dragon.

He was late but least he showed up? He had only been met with turns of being left standing so this time he was dragging his feet. Aging out of being a candidate anyways, so he figured make himself useful in other areas of the Weyr. Namely, this time he had been drinking, but not enough to alter his mindset but enough to make him feel less tense. As Zaheed moved to the entrance of the hatching grounds he looked to the dragons, riders and the Masters. "Forgive my tardiness, I had a chore I could not ignore..." He gave a bow to them out of respect and it was clear on his face he truly meant it. Once he was given the okay to pass, he'd make his way to the first of the eggs.

The Eclipse Melody egg grabbed his attention first. As he got closer the egg looked... strange to him. "Hey there little one... Hope you don't mind me getting this close... Are you feeling alright in there?" Was it healthy for the eggshell to look... to feel that way? He wasn't a healer but... it was concerning...

It was odd... feeling that way about a small being but at the same time... these were the future dragons to boost the weyr's numbers, to fight thread and all that. Yet if he became a dragonrider... would he still get to play his music? Shards nothing would ever take that away from him... He'd make sure his dragon got all his good songwriting though.

"Wow, don't be such a bloody arsehole." Qanthrin pulled her hand back from the egg as it gave such a harsh response, before looking towards Aldar, who had asked her about this particular egg. "Guess it wasn't safe to touch, eh. No wonder that other guy made a run for it."

Moving on, five eggs left for her to touch. Right now, she decided the best course of action would be to go towards the Voice of the Moon egg, laying her hand upon its surface. "Now then, what's up with you?"

Viiox - Moonlit Fall
The woman gave the little egg one more pat, smiling. She was glad she'd gotten such a concrete response from an egg, and that it seemed to be so healthy in its mindspace. So far, as far as she was aware, the eggs were wonderful and growing in a healthy manner.

Next, she moved towards Moonlit Fall, looking at the pretty egg with a grin before putting her hand on the surface. "Good day," Viiox said, having no qualms about speaking aloud to an egg. "And how are you doing? Growing well? Feeling nice and safe and happy? Excited to explore the new world?"

The Forgotten Calamity withdrew a little, seeming quiet now. Maybe lonely. Maybe a little lonelier than it should be.

Deep Crimson... wobbled. The egg itself moved under the touch.

The Eclipse Melody, while still soft, did not seem worse for wear, but there was a weariness to it, a sort of exhaustion it felt.

The Voice of the Moon seemed to feel light, drifting in an almost dreamlike feeling.

Moonlit Fall tumbled into another odd emotion, a weird feeling of protectiveness, and beneath it all was a feeling of needing to be independent.

Zaheed was concerned for the egg, how it felt, but he wasn't about to press his luck. "If you can hear me in there, just get better alright. I bet you are strong but, get better anyways." He said before very gently removing his hand. He moved onto the next one that struck his attention.

The Moonlit Fall egg was next on the table. He bowed to the queen and her baby. "Well hello there, such lovely shades on your shell, I bet you will be one of the most lovely to hatch." He said with confidence as he smiled.
