FULL APPEARANCE: Aspen is short, even for someone assigned female at birth. His poise and confidence, despite his height, give him a larger personality. His figure is narrow and does not build muscle easily, but he is (somewhat) stronger than he looks. His sense of style is practical, but he likes to accentuate it with bright colors. With warm, friendly brown eyes and smile on his face, he often looks rather approachable. He wears his brown hair--a similar shade to his lightly-freckled skin--short, but messy.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Despite being friendly and sociable, despite enjoying the company of others, Aspen’s energy and excitement can be a bit overwhelming. He tends to ramble about things he is passionate about and tends to talk too much. He is curious, asking too many questions, but he’ll offer up his two cents whenever he can interject it. He has opinions and it does not occur to him that people might not want to hear them. Never able to keep his mouth shut, even when it gets him into trouble, Aspen talks far too much. He is generally an active sort who feels like he needs to do something productive at all times.
He goes with his gut in almost everything he does. He rarely stops to think things through and can be impulsive and impatient. He is a bit scatterbrained and disorganized, with poorly defined goals. While said goals may be lofty and idealistic, often even noble, he rarely has any idea of how he will actually reach them. Sure, he wants to lead High Reaches to a better future...but he doesn’t even know what that means. Overall, despite his ambitions and potential, Aspen lacks the organization and discipline necessary to properly lead others.

HISTORY: Born to two riders through flightlust and raised in the creche, Aspen had a typical weyrbred childhood. His half-siblings, related through the same parent's side, were often of interest to him, and he was particularly close to Yew and Juniper. Despite his parents having little involvement in his life, Aspen idolized them. He had his eyes to the skies and nothing else would do. Riders were amazing, and with threadfall, they were only more incredible.
When Aspen was 15, he became a candidate. Most people, at this point, still assumed he was a girl, though this label didn't quite feel right to him. When he realized that he didn't NEED to be a girl, his life changed--and he came out as a trans man. Ready to start his new life as a candidate--and an outwardly male candidate, at that--he looked forward to an early Impression. He wasn't given one. He didn't become a dual candidate at 17, obviously, but kept aiming for dragons. Even though his half-brother Impressed to a lovely green wher, he wanted a dragon.
When Yew and Juniper decided to move to High Reaches, Aspen was happy to follow. In early fall of 2770, the brothers arrived. A turn later, Yew Impressed to a green wher. Still, Aspen would not settle, which is what he saw whers as. He continued to stand for dragon clutches, despite not being chosen yet. Despite Aldoeith's hatching, despite her apparent grab for power, Aspen saw High Reaches as an especially liberal weyr. Anyone could rise to lead the weyr, no matter the color of their dragon.
