FULL APPEARANCE:
At first glance, Minri is perfectly average. She’s average of height. Average of build. Average in beauty. She’s just average. Nothing special surrounds the woman in the slightest. Her brown hair hangs slightly past her ears, swept back and held in place with a band to keep it out of her eyes as she works. Her features are rounded and soft, bits of soot and grime from the forges usually staining some part of her face.
She looks like the kind of person that cares more about practicality than appearances to the point of appearing dirty, though it certainly looks more the dirt of a hard day’s work than any lack of hygiene.
Whether at the forge or not, her choice of garb is simple and rugged. Nothing that would let flying sparks burn easily through the cloth, favoring leather over simple fabrics whenever possible, with a bit of a lean towards deep blues wherever she can fit them.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Minri is eager, oblivious, and usually fixated to a point that she doesn’t pick up on when she’s been jabbering on about an idea for too long or when people want to get a word in edgewise. Most of what she knows is working metal, working metal, and, lets not forget, working metal. But beyond that, she’s a touch dull, never really certain what else to talk about or do.
She’s the sort of person to blow all of her money buying up any unwanted bits of iron and steel people don’t want anymore, stashing it away for her own use rather than putting it through the forges for sale. Always poking at designs, always prodding to try to improve even if it's better off left alone, Minri is tenacious and determined when she’s certain something could be done better, even if it means countless failures and never actually succeeding.
But she’s not the kind of woman to let those failures get her down. Just because she couldn’t do it, doesn’t mean someone else couldn’t, after all.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Father, Blacksmith
Mother, cook
Brother, Blacksmith
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr
HISTORY:
There’s not much to say about Minri’s history, young as she is. Blacksmithing is in her blood, the ring of hammer on anvil as much a part of her as any flesh and blood might be. She gladly jumped into the trade alongside her brother and her father, happily following along in their footsteps to help supply Rider and Handlers with all the tools they might need to do their jobs.
Yet she always felt she could do more. Whers in particular always caught her eye; the big chunky boys and girls that are stuck on the ground to try to avoid thread where dragon and rider can rely upon speed and maneuverability to stay safe.
Surely something could be done to help keep them even a little bit safer…
Since she got it in her brain, she’s been obsessed with Whers, always trying to convince some handler or another to let her try fabricating plating for their beasts, but it always came down to time and resource. No time to let some strange blacksmith confiscate their wher for days or weeks on a project doomed to fail. No metal to spare for the project either, precious as it is.
So, with a huff, Minri decided the best way to convince people it was a good idea was to bond a Wher of her own, and use her own experiences as evidence. And...maybe tinker around with any scrap she could squirrel away as a proof of concept.
