FULL APPEARANCE: Fashion is the name of the game, and it's fashion that Nautilus will bring you. His style is cutting edge, and he keeps up with any current trends...but he adds a touch of himself to everything he wears. A fan of bright colors and vibrant patterns, he tends to avoid excessively plain outfits. Fashion borders on gaudy, and his style is rather excessive. He has a tendency to show off his body with what he wears, from form-fitting clothing to unbuttoned shirts. He is slender and wiry, standing at 6'0.
Nautilus wears glasses with surprisingly simple frames. His blue eyes are vibrant, often with a look of mischief about them. His skin is pale, but often flushed, with a splattering of freckles over his nose. He wears his straw blond hair long, in a straight, casual style.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: As a drama king, Nautilus has always been prone to theatrics and hyperbole. Everything is exaggerated, sensationalized, made to be dramatic. He calls it acting--a fine art, if you ask him--but there is no variation, only a man who is constantly melodramatic. Woe is him...and he’ll use his dramatic “persuasion” to get others to do his work for him. He’s relatively lazy and hates menial labor, often lying to get out of work. In general, he tends to be a bit of a compulsive liar, viewing it as a form of acting. He has a certain charisma about him, but it’s easy enough to catch him in the act of lying. He’s a terrible gossip, prone to spreading rumors and consuming all the juicy details around the Weyr.
Nautilus has a flirty side, often with the followthrough of warming someone’s bed but nothing much else. He’s relatively narcissistic, but it is possible for him to stop caring about only himself. That said, it rarely occurs to him to consider other people’s emotions. As a result, he is prone to tumultuous relationships. Without intention, he can be self-destructive, making a mess out of his life and relationships--after all, that’s future-Nautilus’s problem. He has very little impulse control, often jumping into things without thinking them through.
He is also vain, with a strong focus on appearances and fashion--especially his own.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
-Manta (Mother)
-Fathom (brother, +1)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: (optional)
BIRTHPLACE: Cothold near Keroon
HISTORY: Nautilus was born the baby of the family, with one older brother. His family lived in a cothold on the seaside of Keroon Bay, and although the entire family was loving, he was especially close to Fathom, his older brother. Of everyone at the Weyr, it was Fathom that Nautilus adored the most, even following him around constantly in their younger years. Their childhood was pleasant, and shortly after his 18th birthday the two brothers were searched to Ista Weyr. Within a few days of his arrival, a greenrider from Fort Weyr visited. As an impulsive young man, he was quick to develop a puppy dog crush based on an hour long interaction, and immediately packed up his bags and transferred to Fort Weyr, hitching a ride with the greenrider. His brother didn't seem to be keen on the idea of him packing up and leaving, but he did so anyways, without regard to how his brother might be feeling.
He also was terrible about keeping in touch, and rarely wrote.
Although he was shot down shortly after arriving, once the rider realized his intentions, Nautilus soon had a reason to stay at Fort: he Impressed to a dragon. His whirlwind of spring and summer ended with an impression to Aaneth, who he adores, despite occasionally clashing with her. They nerd out together a lot, but Aaneth was often frustrated with his lack of desire to work. His green had a crush on Spriggth, and Nautilus enjoyed bothering Raine, Spriggth's rider. He never wrote to his family, despite having a fire lizard that he Impressed shortly after Aaneth, largely because it didn't occur to him to consider his family's feelings. He was here, now, and they were there. Any letters he received from them were often left unread, or worse, skimmed and immediately forgotten, in a pile on his desk. Writing back never felt like a priority, after all.
A plague occurred in 2764, and threadfall injuries were high as a result. In Winter, he graduated weyrlinghood. At this point, he decided to move to High Reaches Weyr. Golds in leadership positions? Boriiiiing. High Reaches Weyr was tumultous, but intriguing, and he enjoyed staying there. He spent much of time generally being a bothersome nuisance. Eventually, the weyr was left without a gold, and tensions grew.
In 2767, Fathom arrived at the Weyr, and the brothers had a reunion after not seeing each other for turns. Aaneth was overjoyed to meet Nautilus's brother.
While Nautilus didn't care much about the stolen eggs, he was quite intrigued when Aldoeith hatched shortly after. Interesting...a gold! He didn't quite care about the politics of it, but he certainly delighted in the rumors and gossip...
