FULL APPEARANCE:
K'laus considers themselves fairly average in appearance. Short, messy red-orange hair, round-ish cheeks and freckles on their... well. Face, arms, shoulders--everywhere one could expect, there are probably freckles. Their skin is pale and eyebrows thick over brown eyes and they're all-around boring, if you ask them. They burn easily in the summer and tend to stay covered when possible, even if it is uncomfortable with the temperature outside. When not in the sun, they wear riding leathers or loose shawls, garments that don't quite fit one gender over the other, in shades of reds and browns to go with their hair.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Honest to a fault with an unshakable will, K'laus typically conducts themselves in a calm, polite manner unless suitably angered--something which is usually a monumental task given their easygoing nature. They are fairly easy to get along with, often just going with the flow of events and trying to be agreeable. This can make it easier to push them around, as they would rather just agree than disagree with someone--though if they believe in a cause strongly enough they will--eventually--put their foot down. At the same time, the one time wherein they will argue is when others put themselves down. They will attempt to support them in whatever way possible in an attempt to get them to see that they are better than they think they are--something which is often demonstrated in their interactions with their dragon. They also tend to over-stress worrying for the safety of others and will without hesitation put themselves on the line to save them if necessary--physically or elsewise. This leads to them sticking their neck out for others on more than one occasion, and sometimes taking punishments for things they didn't necessarily do.
To make up for the slacking they did as a child, they feel as if they have something to prove, even if it's just to themselves, and constantly now go out of their way to take on extra work or chores. Despite their dragon's insistence that such things are in the past and no longer matter, K'laus believes that past actions shape the future and while they don't focus on the past insofar as being lost to it, they can spend unnecessary energy in an attempt to right previous wrongs. They worry that past mistakes will be repeated by others not learning from the errors of their predecessors--or their own actions.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Various living relatives and extended family.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Telgar Cothold
HISTORY:
K'laus, born Khelaus, was the middle child of a well-off holder in Telgar territory. Outside of general work, they had little asked of them and were a bit spoiled. Other than having to behave and act a certain way to avoid embarrassing their parents, they did little more work than they absolutely had to to keep their family appeased. As long as they obeyed the rules, they got on well and without any real troubles. Insofar as not causing a ruckus for their family at least. Luckily, they were well-behaved as a child and not particularly rough-and-tumble, leading to a rather easy life--by Pernese standards. But when the dragonriders came Searching when they were sixteen they were happy to accept. Being chosen as a rider was a great honor, right?
Candidatehood was tough. While they were used to working, they weren't quite used to the sheer amount of work required of a Candidate. Where they may have had someone else to do the mucking of stables, it was now their job. Luckily for them, they took the new work on without complaint, working harder than they had in their entire life until that point to prove that they weren't just some spoiled child--if not to anyone else then just to themselves.
But it wouldn't be until they were eighteen that a dragon would finally choose them--a beautiful little green with gangling wings and wide eyes. They couldn't help but be smitten immediately. Weyrling training was equally tough, but now they had Candidate lessons beneath their belt, and with them the muscle and knowledge that came. They worked hard to learn and work with their dragon and their fellow Weyrlings--and riders--but when the time came to graduate... they found themselves seeking the world beyond Telgar. They wanted to experience another Weyr.
Despite the controversy surrounding the Weyr itself, they arranged for transfer to High Reaches.
