Shigure stands slightly below average. He’s slim like a reed, and though he’s not generously muscled, he looks fit. He’s a lover, not a fighter, so he’s more likely to flee a physical altercation than stick around for it as odds are he'd lose. His hair is sandy brown and just past his chin, parted on the right so most of it is swept over. His eyes are a warm hazel. He likes to dress in elaborate clothing when performing and even his day wear tends to be fancier than most.

Shigure is someone who is happy to simply be alive. He takes joy in greeting each day with as much enthusiasm as he can muster. If he's having a bad day, it's likely you likely wouldn't be able to tell. He takes joy in seeing others happy, so he tries to spread happiness wherever he goes. He's a talented singer who prefers happy songs to teaching ballads and performing at weddings and parties to instructing, though he'll go where he's told whenever his duties to his wing and dragon are done. He paints as a hobby and enjoys painting simple pictures for his friends of them and their dragons. He loves heights and flying, so much so that if it were possible he'd stay in the sky and never come down.
He's very fond of nature and keeps flowering plants in his weyr whenever possible. He's distractable when it comes to flora and fauna, so if he suddenly stops speaking mid conversation he may have spotted a curious plant or an adorable kitten. He's passionate in his good moods and serene in the face of adversity, though he's not completely unflappable. He tends to panic when things go horribly south or Cyaleth is hurt. He's not a problem solver so he's going to look to someone else to fix things when they've gone wrong.

Born the second son to an accomplished Harper and a fisherman, Shigure had a pleasant childhood. As a child he and his brother Anzu spent their days down by the shore playing among the waves and rocks. They were good friends with the other hold children and their games would go on for hours. Sometimes Shigure would sit on the beach by himself and listen to the waves, taking joy in the sounds of the sea until he was called in for dinner. When he was eight, he and the other children found a small clutch of firelizard eggs. Out of the one he'd chosen came a Blue he named Tide. Eager to do right by his new little friend, Shigure followed the instructions given to him exactly, and Tide thrived under his care.
From an early age he took interest in his mother's profession. He showed promise as a singer and was sent to the Harper Hall after turning nine. He thrived there, working hard on his studies and practicing diligently, but also offering what help an apprentice could to his fellows. He was friendly with everyone and wanted to see his peers succeed along with himself. Ballads and teaching songs were no problem, but the music he enjoyed most was reserved for festive occasions. It wasn't uncommon to hear him singing an upbeat tune while doing his work. Along with a few of his friends, he took up painting for recreation, often initiating friendly contests to see who could create the cutest animals.
Upon graduating from an apprentice to journeyman halfway through his eighteenth turn, Shigure was transferred to Big Bay Hold much to his delight. He'd missed the sea and he wasn't too far from home so visits could be made without much difficulty. He settled in easily and began making friends among the population, though he didn't have long to stay. Shortly after turning nineteen a Greenrider on search game to Big Bay and to his surprise Shigure was searched. He didn't hesitate in accepting and to Ista Weyr he went. He was happy to help in any way he could as both a Harper and a candidate. He went two turns without Impressing, but he wasn't bothered by it. He had plenty else to do in the meantime.
As luck would have it, he was twenty one when Blue Cyaleth came to him, a graceful and serene presence in his mind and heart. He threw himself into weyrlinghood as he did everything else with a helping hand open to anyone who needed it. They stayed on at Ista for a Turn after graduation but quickly began to feel as though they could be of more help elsewhere. They requested a transfer to Fort despite the political turmoil with the intent of raising everyone's spirits as best they could.
