His belt has a number of loops on it, for carrying various items to leave his hands free for working. He doesn’t get “gussied up” if he can help it.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Termed a gentle giant by most who actually get past the imposing fascade, D'artagnan at first is very intimidating due to his piercing blue eyes and generally solemn expression. His expression is haunted, his recent loss etched into his features. He is hard working at the worst of times and a machine at the best. He has a volatile temper, and while it used to take a long time to erupt, after Lothan's death, it simmers just beneath the surface. It takes a very cool head to talk him down once it's shown it's face. He's not violent, but his size and loud booming voice are enough to shake the rafters.
Having learned strong leadership skills from both parents, he takes responsibility seriously, and can drive those under his care with the same determination he possesses. Friendship and family mean a lot to him, be it the real or found family. After his Impression, he views the whole of the Weyr as family, and his loyalty shows in how he conducts himself, usually. He can, however, be stubborn as a mule when he believes he’s right; and it can take a very long time for him to understand he is wrong. And even then... he will still grumble about it.
He suffers from PTSD having been present when his lover, Lothan, died. Before Lothan's death, he was the friend to everyone, a smile always on his face and a laugh ready to burst forth. Now, he is afraid to let anyone close, preferring one or two close friends. The only exception to all this is children. He is endlessly patient with them, and in his spare time, he carves them little toys of wood. He doesn't like to be idle and whittling is a way to keep his hands busy.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Father Deceased complications to an illness in Winter 2766; Mother: Itienne (45); Sister: Aramis (20); Brother: Athos (18)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Single; mourning the loss of his lover, Lothan.
BIRTHPLACE:Small Farming Cothold in a valley south of Fort Telgar.
HISTORY:Born into a loving family, he was raised to believe that hard work brought the greatest rewards. He was blessed with a younger brother and sister only a few turns younger than himself. Together the family and few workers farmed the land, sending the tithes to Fort Telgar and thanking the heavens for the protection of the Weyr. The family’s belief that life is not guaranteed held them together when the patriarch died due to complications of an illness during the Winter of 2766. Taking up his father’s mantle alongside his mother, he helped manage the farm until, Dragonriders appeared at the farm early Summer of 2770. Taken to the Weyr as a candidate, he Impressed Porthosth on the sands at the Hatching that Fall. He took to the life of a Dragonrider with enthusiasm, he and Porthosth quickly earning themselves a place amongst their wing.
It was there he met Lothan, the two forming a deep friendship that eventually lead to a a pairing. Three years later, Lothan was dead in an horrific accident that D'artagan witnessed, and the once vibrant and outgoing D'artagnan became withdrawn, quiet and broody. He suffered from terrible nightmares, and panic attacks and finally the healers and Wingleader spoke to the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman suggesting a transfer away from the triggering memories of Telgar. Within the year, D'artagnan was transfered and took up a place in the Midnight wing, where he slowly puts his life back together. He is still quiet and unassuming, but very much present in the daily life of his Wing.
