FULL APPEARANCE: Jas'n is slim-shouldered , built more for endurance. He has a squared off jaw and dark hair that is shaved on the sides and longer at the top. He also has lightly tanned skin. He has a soft dusting of freckles you can barely see around the bridge of his nose, his neck and back. His eyes are dark and tend to look untrusting at first until you get to know him and then he is much less guarded. He usually wears fingerless gloves and a brown leather jacket but doesn't have a huge amount of preferred clothing other than this!
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: As for personality, Jas'n tends to be closed off and prickly by nature at first, getting a little annoyed by people that are really in your face and inherently sunshiney at all times, however the longer he knows you the more comfortable he feels. When he's more open, he tends to joke and tease, being heavily sarcastic to the point where he might entirely forget or brush off the idea of not being rude until he sees a negative reaction! He tends to be very loyal to those he legitimately cares about and when he's affectionate he tends to have his own ways of showing it, with nicknames and playfully poking at them being staples. When he feels betrayed however he can cut himself off entirely from the person and does take an indetermined amount of time to warm back up to them!

HISTORY:
Jas'n grew up in a small hold beholden to Fort Hold with his parents, Catherine and Willis, simple workers. He had always found himself closer to his mother than his father and while he was young his family was a constant in his life. He and his mother were close to the point where he would isolate himself, wanting to spend time with her as opposed to making friends with other kids in the hold and never really needing anyone else. She would also have bouts of illness throughout his childhood. People tended to turn a blind eye to Jas’n’s rather isolated nature, not thinking it their business, with the exception of a woman named Sheila who lived in the hold and kept an eye on him, simply out of kindness and the fact that he reminded her a bit of her son, who had died in a particularly bad Threadfall, and encouraged him to pursue a goal such as dragonriding. She generally gave him a little bit of hope.
When his mother died when he was sixteen, Jas’n was heart-broken and his father became verbally harsher with him, his personality made tougher and less forgiving with his wife’s death. Jas’n himself became more angry and detached at this time, even from Sheila. He didn't want to hurt anymore and the way his father manifested his grief didn’t help. He withdrew but he also needed an outlet for his emotion and turned to pickpocketing minor things, not entirely caring about consequences at the time.
At 17, Jas’n was Searched. He was hesitant, but nevertheless took this as an escape. He wanted to break the cycle. He goes to Fort Weyr, deciding kind of half-heartedly that he should become a dragonrider, but feeling rather restricted by the rules and keeping to himself. He sends letters to his dad anyway telling of his intention- maybe he'll even make him proud. His father reacts negatively to this though- Jas'n was meant to do simple work and keep his head down- who does Jas'n think he is? No one should trust his son with something like this! It begins to matter increasingly more to Jas'n though and the idea becomes more of a motivation, it was something Sheila had once encouraged him to do too.
Jas'n transfers to High Reaches Weyr, deciding he should be as far from his father as possible, and determined to prove himself. Jas’n stands as a candidate. He Impresses at 19 to the brown dragon Takedath. He’s good for Jas’n and his affectionate personality softens him around the edges a bit. Jas'n then meets Bruce, the man who becomes a bit of a mentor figure for him throughout weyrlinghood, and encourages him to channel his emotions into something useful. Takedath also acts a bit like an impulse control for Jas’n as well, something god knows he needs!
