FULL APPEARANCE: The most eye-catching feature Jesse has is her hair. She has long, vivid red hair that she generally wears pulled back. Not because she has any particular preference for having her hair pulled back, but that it is the most practical style when she does her hair in the morning. Weyrfolk have learned to beware the unusual styles, because it generally means that the trio is up to no good. When she has the patience for it, Jesse does have a particular love of cosmetics.
Her modest curves are generally on display with her preferred wardrobe of fitted trousers and tall boots. Her favorite tunic is just a little short on her, leading to the occasional flashes of skin when she moves. She favors dark, neutral shades such as grey and brown, but a good smattering of black is also present in her garb. The color she absolutely rocks is red, but she claims that it clashes too much with her red hair.
Sharp facial features and nose just slightly upturned give her a wily look, while her blue eyes sparkle just enough to always seem mischievous. She's more likely to laugh than frown, and she has mastered the art of plotting without looking like she's up to anything.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Over all, Jesse is afraid of being left behind. She clings to the friends she has made, especially James and Meowth. If you mess with them, you mess with her, and that rarely ends well for all parties. She is very loyal to those who have earned that loyalty, but she doesn't let just anyone earn that trait.
She is aggressive and bossy, with a force of will that can overwhelm lesser personalities. She charges headfirst into plan without plotting out things like consequences, or, y'know . . . step two. Couple that with her very loud demeanor, and she turns into a powerhouse of action. If she could ever learn to develop her foresight, she would be a valuable asset to the top echelon of the weyr.
It is said that redheads have a temper, and Jesse is no exception to that saying. Her rage is no less potent than her other emotions, and it takes surprisingly little to provoke her. The only two beings that seem fairly safe from her rages are her partners in crime James and Meowth.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Miya of Green Mototh, mother
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: It's complicated.
BIRTHPLACE: Telgar Weyr
HISTORY: Greenrider Miya had always wanted a child. Fertility issues plagued her for Turns, until she finally had a baby girl. She named the redhead Jesse. There never was a father in the picture, because Miya's dreams of motherhood never involved a mate to help her.
But Miya was also a dragon rider, and even motherhood could not keep her out of the air for long. There was one place weyrbrats were raised, and that was in the crèche. As proud as Miya was to have Jesse, from toddlerhood on she rarely saw her daughter. That wasn’t to say that mother and daughter did not have a bond – Jesse knew she was very much loved, even if her mother was not always around.
Jesse's life changed forever one day, when she was just seven. Creche workers told little Jesse that her mother was not coming back this time. They said that Mototh had slipped between during a particularly terrible battle with other dragons. Jesse had no concept of 'death' or 'forever', and remained convinced that if she could just wait long enough, her mother would reappear.
For Turns, little Jesse had a daily ritual of watching the skies above the Weyrbowl. Everyone knew that she was waiting for green Mototh to appear, and most regarded her sadly. Jesse waited for Turns, but her mother never came home.
Eventually the question of what to do with Jesse came up. She was convinced that she would be a dragon rider one day, but the roster of chores eventually placed her in the infirmary. She had an informal apprenticeship there, but as hard as she tried, she never had any aptitude for healing. The best thing that came of her time in the infirmary was her friendship with a boy named James. James was also a candidate needing to be occupied between clutches, and they quickly became thick as thieves.
James Impressed long before Jesse, and his brown Meowth completed a trio. Weyrlinghood kept them apart for a while, but Jesse attended his graduation. They resumed being inseparable. That suited Jesse just fine, as Fort Weyr had a need for candidates. Jesse wanted some fresh air, and a place she was not forever looking twice at every greenrider that crossed her path.
As she had hoped, James followed her on her trek from Telgar to Fort. She regretted the change on a little bit, but figured that she had a better chance at Impressing at Fort. After all, Telgar hatchlings had her for nearly a decade, and none of them had any interest in her.
