"I'm bluer than the ocean
I'm golden like the rising sun and
I'm red with hot emotion
And when they try to hold me down
Inside the box, I'll find my way out
I'm keeping it in motion"

FULL APPEARANCE: Aedih is a tall woman, with a muscular build. Broad-shouldered and solidly built, she nonetheless maintains a feminine look about her. Despite being widely built and strong-looking, she has evident curves. While decently flexible and agile, her forte lies with her strength. Firm muscle and a naturally large size lends her strength and endurance that is both natural and earned. With a wide jaw and strong features, Aedih is more handsome than beautiful, but she is not unattractive. Perhaps some of it comes from her princely, regal bearings, and the way she holds herself as if she is someone important. By her side, she bears a sword, one that she spent a pretty penny on. It's nothing too special, a simple, used weapon, but it uses precious metal and was difficult to get her hands on. She treasures it, perhaps due to the memories she has made with it.
Despite her noble appearance, Aedih clearly has no idea what fashion is. Her auburn hair, a bit bushy and wild, is often left free. She enjoys braiding the front, like a crown, and often ties it with a shiny ribbon of material. She rarely matches, and enjoys layers and accessories. She may have a sense of fashion, but it's not a decent one. Perhaps she simply throws outfits together, and no one has had the decency to tell her how bad it looks. Brilliant blue eyes and olive skin are accented by the freckles around the bridge of her nose.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Aedih is a chaotic disaster of a person. While her alignment is lawful good, with a strong belief in valor and honor, she nonetheless questions unfair systems when they come up and will challenge them, usually using the system to do so. It's all about her word, her code of honor, and she will never break it. That said, she is a whirlwind, disorganized and scattered. Valorous, honorbound, and chivalrous, Aedih believes in holding herself to high standards and being a strong, solid force. She refuses to lie or cheat, if she can help it, but can be very rigid and stubborn. White lies? Tact? No, she doesn't lie, remember? That dress looks hideous, and she's not going to say otherwise, even if it's way too late to change.
She wants, desperately, to protect and save others. Unfortunately, Aedih has no idea how she is supposed to do this. Fight, maybe? That's why she became a guard, and why she remains a knightly, noble sort. Despite having street smarts and intuition, she is not wise and only average in intelligence. Straightforward and not especially creative, she is impulsive and quick to act, often without thinking. She is concrete, and often says what is on her mind without thinking it through. She relies on instinct and emotion, wanting to "save everyone" somehow. She has a bit of a hero complex, like her dragon. She tends to lose sight of the details for the big picture, often lacking the methods or planning skills to figure out how to get somewhere.
While she often uses masculine language to refer to herself (such as gentleman or lord-like), and has masculine preferences, she is most definitely a woman, using she/her pronouns. If anything, she just wants to rebel against traditional gender norms, and is fine with being seen in a more masculine/less traditionally feminine light. Aedih loves fiercely and cares deeply for others. She can be self-sacrificing, with a tendency to put others first. Although friendly and sociable, she can sometimes be a bit too high-energy for others. While her temper is easily stirred, she forgives and forgets just as easily. She is gung-ho about everything, always going--productive and energetic alike. Eager and earnest, she tends to be a bit "too much" for some. She has very little in terms of organizational skills, and her weyr is often a mess.

-Older sister: Demei
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
BIRTHPLACE: Minor Hold under Igen
HISTORY: Born in the deserts of Igen to the lords of a minor hold, Aedih was born as a noble, at least in her small hold home. Even for a minor hold, it was small, but rich resources, despite the location, brought a small degree of profit to it. Still, the hold was hardly well-known, and as a result, Aedih would emerge into the world as an innocent, naive country bumpkin. Still, her parents were traditional, and with their wealth and connections, they sought to marry their two daughters out. As the minor holder's youngest child, in a traditional family unit of 2.5 children, Aedih had fewer expectations than her siblings. Demei would be married to the best suitor, and Maeharn would be the heir. Aedih...well, she didn't worry about that. Aedih and Demei were taught the ways of a "proper lady," and Demei didn't mind conforming to their parents' expectations. Aedih, however, didn't want to be a "ladylike" person. She wanted to fight, to protect! In secret, she got one of the guards from their hold to teach her to fight. The guard, Naurunel, was a mentor to her for a while, and was happy to teach the girl his ways. She had promise, he told her, and he regaled her with stories of his glory days, of protecting others. Her older brother, too, was close to her, helping her discover what she wanted to do. She had friction with her sister, however, who seemed too stuck up, dull, and willing to conform. Meanwhile, her sister found Aedih to be chaotic, messy, and "too much."
Eventually--at 15--her parents sat her down to have the "betrothal conversation." A large fight ensued. Aedih loved her parents, traditional as they were, but refused to stay a moment longer. She impulsively told them about he fighting, and refused to get married. Without thinking it through, she left home, announcing her departure before leaving. While she doesn't regret leaving, she regrets how she left. She loved her family and Naurunel, and keeps in touch, even if she clashes with the former. Eventually, her family learned to accept her life choices, and they tried very hard to support her, albeit from a distance. While her parents had rigid gender roles and Aedih had always rebelled, they were still loving and affectionate.
Because threadfall had just started, Aedih sheltered at a nearby hold, where she found a caravan that was looking for a guard. She quickly signed up, hoping to protect AND travel the world in a way that was safe. They didn't accept her as a guard, not yet, but she was eager to help out and an extra set of capable hands wouldn't be turned away.
When she was 16, she Impressed a bronze firelizard, and two or three turns later, she Impressed a green. At the age of 18, until she was searched at 21, she fought as a guard among her new friends, protecting them.
Threadfall charts were foreign to her, but the caravan knew what they were doing. For a while, Aedih was almost a knightly sort, fighting off bandits and protecting her caravan. Although her caravan was her family, she accepted search when it was offered. A visiting dragonrider passed by the hold that the caravan had stayed at, and offered candidacy to Aedih. Aedih would keep in touch with the caravan as well, and went to Benden to become a candidate at the age of 21. It was strange to be there, but she had no benchmark to judge it by.
Nuth, a gold of Benden, rose--but Weyrleadership didn't change. Aedih didn't question it, though, and was delighted when her Rauseth approached her, bonding without any issues. A turn later, however, Wyzeth's plight was discovered, and the rider pair rescued. Suddenly, any loyalty Aedih felt to her weyr disappeared. She looks at Benden with disdain, and followed the other clutchsiblings to Semaca, where they went to be with their true mother and their apparent sibling, Gold Nebulaeth. The second Rauseth was old enough--a season after Wyzeth was revealed--they transferred to the newer Semaca Weyr, alongside a few of their clutch siblings.
They were much happier there--a weyr of exploration and excitement, with plenty of opportunities to protect others. Rauseth kept Aedih from getting into too much trouble impulsively, and the two worked hard. When Semaca began working with pirates, however, Aedih felt conflicted. She was often vocal in her distrust of them. It did not take much for her to trust someone, but how could you trust a pirate? Someone who stole, someone constantly cheating and lying? She worried about Semaca...
