PLAY-BY: aloha sushi core picrew - if edited, "edited to include head scar"
FULL APPEARANCE: While on the taller side of average, A'riga is not a terribly imposing figure. He has a narrow build, a bit angular, which gives the illusion that he is thin. That said, he is muscular and strong, just with lean, firm muscle. Despite his angular body, his face has a rugged, masculine look about it, but he's not especially good looking, except to those with a certain type. Additionally, he has a thick scar (not pictured) running from his hairline, above his eyebrow, to the top of his head. On the left side, no hair grows around this scar, but it's healed well. The rest of his head is covered in short, fluffy hair. It's worn neatly, and surprisingly stylishly. He prefers mild or neutral colors, such as earthy tones or black/gray, and his sense of fashion is practical, but he is a neat man with a surprising sense of what looks good and what doesn't. He never grows a beard, but leaves a bit of stubble/facial hair, preferring that to a cleanshaven look.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: A'riga is absolutely done with your shards. He's tired and long-suffering, tolerating a lot from his loved ones, the only ones who seem to matter to him. While rugged and coarse, a gruff man who has a less-than-refutable past, he is also a grumpy dad. A bit too harsh, with a blunt, annoyed exterior, he nonetheless will protect others and be the dad friend people need. Of course, if you need a shoulder to cry on, he'll make sure no one makes you cry again. That said, he's generally a pacifist, these days, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know how to use a knife. His temper is difficult to rouse, and he generally approaches the world with a cool, calm, even apathetic perspective. A'riga doesn't get mad, he gets even. He is cold and calculated when the time calls for it. Perceptive and capable, but without ambition, A'riga is not an especially emotional person. No, he is solemn and serious, lacking humor in most ways.
While he desires to do good and serve others, this usually stops at his loved ones. True Neutral, he nonetheless will not harm others, if he can help it, no matter how cruel they are. Despite being a man who believes in balance, he works too hard and is a pessimist, seeing things through a negative lens. The world is harsh, and he needs to be strong to survive in it. He struggles with self identity, not being sure about what he enjoys and just putting others first. That said, he enjoys animals and plants, keeping a garden and feeding strays. He can be surprisingly gentle, and tries to be a rock for his loved ones. He is protective without being controlling, loyal without being overbearing, and reliable/dependable WHILE being a bit bland. He tries to form no opinions and fill his role, and as a result, he often fades into the background, despite his grumpy nature. He's surprisingly good at reading a room, despite being gruff. Despite any bluntness he may have for others, he rarely talks about himself, and tries to maintain an air of mystery about him.
While he can be a bit judgmental and critical, he has the best of intentions...at least for his loved ones. Sometimes, you have to be the "bad guy," and he's fine with that role. He encourages "strength" in others, and isn't afraid to call them on their crap. When appropriate, they need to hear hard truths. He's a quiet man, surprisingly eloquent despite speaking so rarely. He tends towards the minimum required to get the point across, but is well-spoken and articulate.

BIRTHPLACE: Travelling Caravan
HISTORY: Aurigaeri was born the first child to Auri and Gaerin, a child with immense expectations placed upon him from childhood. Auri and Gaerin expected the best from Aurigaeri, and he did his best to live up to expectations. He had to take care of his younger sister, had to be the responsible one. Born in a small travelling caravan, Aurigaeri wasn't expected to go anywhere in life, beyond eventually being a trader, but he was expected to be well-behaved and almost a third caretaker to his sister. As a result, Aurigaeri learned to listen, not to speak. He loved his sister, and would continue to write to her throughout his life.
Because the caravan was small, a prime target for bandits, they hired some guards. The guards were asked to teach the children of the caravan self-defense skills, which Aurigaeri took to easily. When the youth was 16, there was some family drama--arguments between his parents. Aurigaeri wasn't keen on sticking around, but he left on good terms. Igen Weyr was close at the time, so he went there, and to his surprise, he was quickly searched. Somehow, he became fast friends with two others, becoming a merry band of idiots. Miraelle, Musa, and Aurigaeri were all close, to everyone's surprise, with Aurigaeri being the glue that held Musa and Miraelle together. Or at least stopped Miraelle from killing Musa.
A turn later, however, Aurigaeri Impressed. In early fall of 2762, at 17, a stoic bronze approached him, and without a word, Kairaelth Impressed. Musa and Miraelle's relationship deteriorated for a bit without him around all the time. Shortly after A'riga graduated weyrlinghood, at the age of 18, Miraelle Impressed to a green, and the very next clutch--a garnet clutch--Musa Impressed a green herself. Mahallath and Pharasmath were close, much to Miraelle's dismay, but the greens' relationship and A'riga's presence as a rider helped the trio get through it.
When A'riga was 18, shortly after his friends Impressed, threadfall resulted in him getting a nasty scar to his head. Kairaelth quickly betweened, and the pair was lucky that the damage, while it would scar heavily, was mostly superficial. Still, A'riga was in the infirmary for a while, and when he got out, he was still out of commission for a bit. What should he do, with all his free time?
Listen.
He fell in with the wrong crowd, a small group who was vying for power, in the long run. A bit brute-force in terms of their methods, they still had use for information. So, A'riga gave them information. Underhanded, dirty work, given the nature of the group, leading to blackmail and bribery alike, but A'riga still did it. When he healed up, he grew more irritable, and got in a few fights. Luckily, it would not last; Miraelle wanted, eventually, to move to High Reaches, so A'riga, and M'sa, followed her there.
High Reaches held a lot of drama, but A'riga did his best to stay out of it, despite how some felt towards bronzes. Heavy threadfall losses and the lack of a clutching gold, however, led A'riga to lean more traditional. He didn't believe in the superiority of bronzes and golds, but found that High Reaches' mistrust of gold dragons was misplaced, and might be the Weyr's downfall. He was quite pleased for the Weyr when Aldoeith hatched, despite the controversy surrounding her.
UPDATES
- Spring 2771: Miraelle is injured in threadfall badly enough to have an arm amputated. She is now grounded.
- Fall 2772: Threadfall - Kairaelth is too close to Marceth's flame when the other bronze is going for some Thread. A'riga's left ankle is slightly burned through his boot (Mild), and Kairaelth's left flank is a bit singed (Mild).
- Spring 2775: Kairaelth lands awkwardly, spraining his right hind leg (Moderate).
