FULL APPEARANCE: Teleka is tall, especially for an afab individual. Beyond towering over some others, however, she hardly strikes the most intimidating form. With a slender, narrow figure, she looks like a sharp wind might knock her over. The truth, upon closer inspection, is that she's quite agile. While she maintains firm muscle, particularly from her choice in career, she is not the strongest or the sturdiest. No, she is quick, she's agile, she's downright acrobatic. She has a strange sort of grace, despite the casual and chaotic manner in which she moves. Prone to large, dramatic movements, she's the sort to be in control of her body, but also the sort to literally jump over a chair and then drape herself over it...sitting on it backwards.
Teleka is pale, with a splattering of freckles and deep green eyes. Her hair is a vibrant ginger-red, worn long and messy, but often pulled back into a ponytail. She uses rudimentary Pernese makeup to keep her lips looking as red and full as possible, and has a strong preference for the color red.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Loud and unpredictable, Teleka thrives on chaos. She may seem like a volatile whirlwind, but she rarely holds grudges or gets angry. She’s consistently rough and crude, with a tendency to curse and insult others. Fun is a strong motivation, even if at the expense of others. Teleka is honest, but a bit blunt, even taking an insulting, careless, or tactless approach when offering the ‘truth.’ While a bit off-putting due to her rudeness, she can be sociable and enjoys being around others. She is an impulsive thrillseeker who thrives off challenge, danger, and the unknown. She wants to be stronger, despite having confidence in her abilities, and often encourages others to grow and improve, even if she can be a bit harsh. She enjoys messing with others, and loves pranks. Her favorite things are fighting, piracy, and parties.
While fun is certainly a primary motivation, protecting her loved ones comes first. She cares deeply for a select few, and is shockingly loyal and protective towards them. In recent turns, she even has recognized that sometimes she needs to be gentle and supportive, and in times of absolute, extreme need, she is able to do so. That said, she is often harsh and rude to those who have not earned her affection. Those she respects--such as her pirate crew--can see her working as a team player. Otherwise, she is extremely rebellious, acting out to authority, or anyone who tells her what to do. She’s tough and you can’t tell her what to do! Consequences, as they’ve been so far, are rarely deterrents. Everyone expects her to be a troublemaker (in her mind), so she might as well live up to expectations!
Her final motivation is driven by ambition. Self-serving, she wants to reach the top, and thrives off challenge and competition. That said, she often shrugs off any attempts to get her to take responsibility for her actions, and is not very mature, despite her age. Teleka would tell you that she never gives up, but if something isn’t working, she’s quick to throw it away, especially in terms of social relationships. She’ll cut others out in the most cataclysmic way, burning the bridge down entirely.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
-Mother: Arca
-Little Brother: Sirocco
-Little brother: Qibli - estranged, -6.5
-Found family: Pirates, especially her best friend (unnamed as of 8/15, played by Shelb)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: She's got more important things to focus on right now! Those more important things are now her GIRLFRIEND, Tetra...
BIRTHPLACE: A minor hold in the west
HISTORY: Born the first child to Arca, a cold and uncaring mother, Teleka was constantly trying to prove herself. As a youth, she yearned for her mother's approval, up until her teenage years. When her younger brother Sirocco was born, she accepted him, but Qibli, for whatever reason, was scorned by their mother, more than the rest of them. At his birth, she resented him, simply because her mother did. At 6 or 7, she looked to her mother for approval. At first, she simply was annoyed with him, but when he began to speak, she had many cruel words for the young child.
By the time she was 12, and he was around 6, her bullying took another turn. She never laid her hands on him, of course, but now...she bullied him to make him strong. Over the last turn, she'd felt rebellious, resenting their mother but too afraid to stand up to her. Instead, she tried to make Qibli as emotionally strong as she'd become. She even offered to teach the child how to fight, but naturally, he likely didn't want to fight someone twice his age. Instead, she just messed around, playing "pranks" that were often a bit malicious, and insulting him constantly. She thought it would give him the strength to stand up to her, even if not their mom, but...he never did.
He was weak. She hated him for that. But she swore she'd make him strong.
When Qibli was 8, and Teleka around 15, their mother attacked him, and the young boy was removed from the home. Teleka...missed him. She missed messing with him. She could only hope that she'd helped make him strong enough to get through anything, but she was also...a little happy he'd gotten somewhere better.
At the age of 18, she decided she'd had enough. Their mother had only gotten colder, retreating into herself, when Qibli left; but she always had cruel words for the remaining two. After a loud fight with her mother, involving Teleka intimidating her and possibly some property damage, at least on Teleka's part, she packed her things and left. Her brother didn't want to come with her--didn't want to be involved--so Teleka left her family behind.
Her travels were limited, however, due to threadfall. She traveled with various caravans, for the protection, moving from one to another. By 19, however, she found herself at a seaside hold, one with questionable morals. A pirate crew had docked there, and of course, Teleka was intrigued. The idea of piracy was alluring, even if she would eventually find it to be less glamorous than she originally thought. Braving the seas, stealing things, causing chaos! It wasn't that, quite so much, but she didn't realize that until she'd joined--until she'd made lasting bonds. She joined them, mostly by harassing the captain. The captain agreed to let her prove her worth, if she was as eager and earnest to join as she said, and didn't really mind a young adult tagging along until their next stop, on the chance that she was useless. She was not useless. She eagerly did any chores assigned to her, and seemed to take to life on the sea easily. What's more, she had a keen eye and a strong punch, offering both muscle and a scout to the crew. Eventually, they became like her family, and she made many close friends among them, including one who became her best friend.
In Spring or Summer of 2769, the pirates made their way to Semaca. Their ship docked, under the pretense of being traders, shortly after the floods of Semaca. Perhaps they could be the 'salvation' of the Weyr...for the right price. (Around this time, she may have fallen in love with an adorable tiny baby pig and adopted/bought them. No slaughter for you, little herdbeast!)
Teleka was fine with keeping up the charade, but she was much happier when they established a trade agreement with the weyr--as pirates, rather than traders. Was their work legitimate, now that it was sanctioned by an actual weyr? She didn't care, but she did enjoy that others now knew she was a pirate.
