FULL APPEARANCE:
Hexa is very pale, as she hasn't seen the sun in quite some time, but that doesn't particularly bother her. She looks a little bit older than her thirty-one turns, but is still spry and put together enough to keep up with most of the younger handlers. Her eyes are a brilliant, bright green, and incredibly expressive. Her black hair is cut short in what could commonly be considered a boy cut, with little curls over her forehead and by her ears, often adorned by a white headband with small bumps on it. She often prefers to wear white and yellow or red and black, depending on her dominant mood that day. She very much tends toward more form-fitting clothing and is rather shameless about it. She often tries to get out of wearing her working leathers. Somehow, despite her shenanigans and tendency not to listen or buck the standard, she's managed to escape receiving any injuries that have resulted in a scar or other long-term marring.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Hexa could easily be described as a little unhinged. She thrives on chaos and seeing people's reactions how they play out, considering it almost an art form. Nothing she does is ever with malicious intent, even if it does have negative effects for those involved in her antics.
Hexa regularly runs the gamut of every emotion possible and experiences them to their extreme, nothing is ever halfway. They also change at the flip of a coin, going swiftly from one to the next without lingering on the prior one or its causes. This makes her incredibly difficult to spend any reasonable amount of time with unless one is willing to roll with the punches of the swift changes. The only creature she's formed any lasting bond with is Hexask.
She might hold a grudge, but not for very long unless she is grossly wronged, she simply doesn't hang on to one emotion long enough to dwell on it. No singular emotion seems to take precedence over another. The exception being her brother, who she has a fairly consistent love-to-hate relationship with.
Despite her penchant for doing things for the sake of getting reactions regardless of their effects on others, Hexa will forgo this tendency for the greater good, willing to self-sacrifice in order to ensure that nothing completely horrible happens to the weyr at large. After all, she can't mess with people if they're all dead or injured.
Hexa is not foreign to the concept of love, but isn't really sure how it works. People are more things you keep like parts of a collection rather than lavish affection on and bond with. Hexask was the start in her realizing that there might be more to relationships.
Hexa and Hexask aren't exactly an asset to be counted on, and often get distracted unless their duties directly benefit them. Guard duty might turn into a singing contest (which Hexa always wins of course, because Whers can't sing), patrols might turn into a jaunt off path toward something shiny. They have to be reminded to keep on task during their work after Threadfall as well, though by now they've been scolded enough to know not to actually conduct any mischief during those particular duties. Thankfully, they have never been the direct cause of any major tragedies.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Brother
SIGNIFICANT OTHER:
BIRTHPLACE: Small Cothold near High Reaches
HISTORY:
Hexa and her brother were born in a small cothold near High Reaches. It wasn't a fanciful place, just a little farming community - they grew their own food, made their own clothes, and were fairly content as things went. They were close enough to the weyr that they were relatively safe from Threadfall so long as they took shelter, and things were generally good.
That isn't to say things didn't get interesting. Hexa was constantly at odds with her brother. He always wanted things to be in a certain order and always had very fixated goals that he wanted to achieve; whereas Hexa didn't particularly care as long as it was fun and got a reaction. Nothing got more of a reaction than messing with his plans, and thus he became the perfect target for her escapades. She tripped him up every chance she got, so long as it didn't completely screw over everyone else who lived there in the meantime.
When the plague first struck in the summer of 2764, their cothold was devastated. Practically everyone perished save for Hexa and her brother. With so few people remaining, the cothold couldn't sustain itself. The two gathered what valuables they could and sold them off on the way, retreating to the known safety of the weyr itself, where they could earn their keep as weyrfolk. Or so was her brother's plan.
Ever one to throw a bit of chaos into the works, Hexa took what coin they'd saved and used it to buy a wher egg, thereby solidifying her own "power" and way to earn her keep in the weyr and leaving her brother nearly penniless - which, far from leaving him destitute and homeless, certainly left him very angry. While to this very day she insists that it was so that one of them had guaranteed earning potential and that she could support him in the long run, their relationship has never recovered.
Hexa was far from a model wherling, but made it through well enough to graduate, and picked Windsong Squad since it sounded the most colorful. Sunbursts were overrated anyway. She didn't see her brother very much over the duration, and didn't dwell on his condition too much - if he was really in need he'd come to her, right? ..She still got into as much mischief as she could, now with her enabling wher at her side, but was fairly happy with how her lot had ended up; and that's what mattered.
While Hexa and Hexask have been together at High Reaches for six turns now, they really haven't been up to much besides generic mischief and pranking. They've made no effort to seek out any sort of responsibility other than that which is expected of them as wher and wherhandler. They have no long term goals other than to poke buttons and see what the results are.
Hexa finds the entire council concept funny because getting any amount of people to agree on something is a nigh impossibility, but has no other opinions on traditionalism or progressiveness other than that. The imprisonment and subsequent election of Xander not even a turn later had her laughing for days, though she - again - had no outright opinion one way or another regarding the murders and attacks. In the end, they did not seem to affect her directly, so she paid them little mind.
Despite the heavy Threadfall and other losses suffered by High Reaches since she and Hexask graduated, the two have only suffered very minor injuries and nothing that has left a lasting mark.
