FULL APPEARANCE: Despite a masculine height and a sturdy-looking build, J'tai is less strong than they seem. Their brown eyes are soft and gentle, often accentuated by a small amount of tastefully applied kohl. Their skin is a deep, rich brown, with a splattering of freckles over the bridge of their nose. Their black hair is long, kept in dreads and often pulled back into a neat bun. Their sense of fashion is lacking, though they do not seem to realize this. Billowing skirts, dresses, and robes, especially those that are fun to spin in or look "fancy," are certainly their favorite to wear. They like bright colors, accessories, tassels, fringes...the works! They tend to wear intricate, colorful patterns, with little mind to whether they clash or not. They wear a necklace from their sister and usually wear some kind of earrings. Although their vision is adequate without them, they prefer to wear glasses, as it helps them see better. When the weather allows, J'tai avoids wearing shoes, finding the dirt and grass beneath their feet to be comforting and grounding.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: J’tai is a kind, gentle soul, a selfless sort who will sacrifice their own needs for others. They are eager to help and support others, no matter how exhausting it is to be everyone’s support system. Despite a strong natural empathy, J’tai may make some missteps when comforting others, usually around being overly hopeful or positive. With unshakable optimism, J’tai’s fierce positivity may be too much for others, and not called for in every situation. Sometimes, they can minimize others’ experiences without intending to, for example. J’tai also tries to help, even when assistance doesn’t seem wanted, and they believe in others unconditionally. There is good in everyone, especially those that society seems to give up on. Although J’tai bounces back with resilience, they are sensitive and easily hurt when people are mean to them. They’ll keep trying and believing in people, no matter what, though!

Although many people would not consider it a positive trait, J’tai is well-versed in sugarcoating truths and telling white lies. Brutal honesty is certainly not their strong point. Tactful and diplomatic to an extreme, J’tai cannot be relied on to give their honest opinion. In the same vein, they are a pushover, one who tries not to disagree, even, with the opinions of others. They avoid confrontation in all that they do, and have been described as “spineless.” Timid, especially in groups or unfamiliar sorts, it gets quite a bit to get J’tai comfortable. As someone who is overly trusting, they are easily pushed around and manipulated. J’tai is indecisive, tending to defer to others and avoid making decisions, no matter how relevant the decisions are to their own life. J’tai is not good at setting boundaries and tends to say everything is fine, no matter how bothered they are. J’tai is a people pleaser to an almost unhealthy extreme.

J’tai is intelligent and knowledge-driven…and an encyclopedia of random, obscure facts. All in all, their passion about their interests is a bit nerdy, and once you get finally them talking, they can ramble for hours. Particular interests include dragonkind, mining, and stones of any kind.

Born and raised in Crom Hold, the child of two miners, minecrafting was in Jetai's blood. Ajerlla was a wherhandler, with a grouchy and scarred green named Ajerlsk. Ajerlsk had been passed down many generations, so to speak, having been bonded with Ajerlla's mother, grandmother, even great grandmother. Ajerlsk, for all her gruffness, loved the family dearly. It was tragic when she was crushed in a mining accident, when Jetai was only 8. Jetai had hoped to Impress her, someday.

Jetai was studious and hardworking, and highly motivated by mining. They started their apprenticeship around 10 or 11, only a couple of turns after the beloved family wher had passed. Their sister gave them a necklace to commemorate this day, which they almost always wear. At 15, they were given a firelizard egg to help with their mining pursuits. They had an odd group of friends at the hold, largely outcasts and difficult or contrary individuals. Even after leaving Crom, they would keep in contact, not just with their family, but also these friends.

Jetai loved rocks, mining, and whers...but they also developed a passion for majestic dragons. Jetai romanticized the beautiful creatures, even though they'd never personally met one. They loved listening to the harper tales about dragons. They must be so heroic, brave, poised, elegant...! They personally met their first dragon at 22, when a searchdragon came to Crom, and the dragon took an interest in Jetai. Their first conversation with one of those beautiful creatures would be treasured for the rest of their life. Although they had poured their heart and soul into their craft, although they loved mining, Jetai accepted the honor of search, in hopes that maybe, just maybe, they would have a dragon to adore. Their beloved older sister was searched with them, which solidified their decision to leave their home and craft, at least for now.

They enjoyed their time at the Weyr, but didn't Impress right away. For two turns, they were simply thrilled to be a candidate at Telgar Weyr. They wrote home constantly, and they were glad to have a familiar face with their sister. In 2767, their sister Impressed, and Jetai adored her dragon. A turn later, in 2768, at the age of 24, Jetai would Impress to a dragon of their own. They loved their strange, stoic dragon, and showered Athenirath in affection, which Athenirath only allowed from J'tai.

In early 2772, at the age of 28, J'tai and their sister transferred to Fort weyr. Their sister wanted to explore new places, and J'tai, of course, would follow their beloved sister to the end of Pern. Athenirath, naturally, agreed, finding Fort's structure appealing.

FULL APPEARANCE: Athenirath is, in coloring, quite lovely. Their base color is a silvery hue, with paler colors streaking the undersides of their wings, reminiscent of the feathers of angels. The backs of their wings are dark, an uninterrupted gray that verges on black. The same color marks their underbelly, hind legs, and tail--though the color is speckled with a paler white, like soft stars or falling snow. They are on the larger side for a white, though they are a bit low to the ground, almost serpentine in shape. They have a lean, muscular build. Their facial features are sharp and severe, with a strangely gaunt face. They don't speak often to others, but their gaze is sharp and unrelenting. They tend to stare at others, and when they are noticed, they refuse to flinch or look away first.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Athenirath can, at times, come off as intimidating, simply due to their quiet intensity. They are often silent, even when addressed, ever vigilant to the potential threats inherent in humanity and dragonkind. Generally, they have little to say, and what they do say is often concrete. They don't say anything that seems pointless to them. They interpret things in an overly-literal manner. They are harsh and serious at all times, with a stoic exterior. Athenirath is a warrior at heart, one clearly born at the wrong time. Their main values are strength and honor, and they seek to do their duties with determination. They pour themselves into their work--fighting thread--but they only take calculated risks. They are bright and intelligent, with a mind for tactics, patterns, and strategies. Formations come easily to them, and they often forget that not everyone has the same learning style as they do.

Due to their sharp, blunt nature, which is often overly critical, Athenirath is an acquired taste; but to their rider, Athenirath is a defender, their rider's protector. J'tai is naive to the world, but Athenirath sees themselves as a hardened warrior. They humor J'tai's ways, but will step in if they believe someone is taking advantage of them. They are often suspicious of others, quick to assume the worst in terms of motivations. Sometimes they are wrong, but their refusal to give others the benefit of the doubt often helps them keep J'tai out of trouble. Sometimes, their opinions clash with others', and J'tai often finds themselves mediating between the straightforward and often harsh dragon and those who would oppose Athenirath.

COLOR: White

FULL APPEARANCE: Firestone, named for his stone-like markings and his future goal of searching out stone within the mines, is a handsome white. His lower half is a grayish white, with his upper half being slightly darker. Craggy veins like stone cut into the top of his body, giving him a look similar to what one might see in a mine. He is tiny, even for a white firelizard.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Firestone is helpful, a good boy! He wants to help, and help he does. He is eager and cheerful, a chatty sort full of chirps and croons, as though he thinks his bonded can understand him. He is communicating HELPFUL things! The images he sends Jetai are rarely useful, unless he is given specific directions. In a mine, he is far more helpful--simple directions around what he should do, what to report, how to scout. If left to his own devices...well, he's absolutely CERTAIN that this random rock is useful to Jetai. (Which, to them, it absolutely is.)
