FULL APPEARANCE: J'sane is tall and slender with slight feminine curves although she can and has appeared as a young lad when need arises. Her skin is fair but darker rather than pale white. She has a sprinkling of copper freckles on her cheeks extending around her nose. Her hair is long and frustratingly curly. J'sane prefers to keep it in a tight braid although it is a constant battle to do so. Her hands and feet are almost embarrassingly big, although her fingers are long and tapered. J'sane thinks they make her look like an artist.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: J'sane is ruled by her needs for excitement and exploration of which she has had little in her life to date. She has an insatiable curiosity and tolerance of anything different. One of her favorite sayings is: “Are they/it hurting anyone? No? Well then there’s nothing wrong with that!” Unfortunately, this is a stark contrast to the community she grew up in and that has led to a lot of conflict in her life which has encouraged her traits of impatience, stubbornness and taking risks. Also, for some her insatiable needs become tiresome and that can interfere with her forming friendships.

J'sane will do anything she has to in pursuit of her goals, but faced with something interesting and new, she is a bundle of joy and lights up with excitement. She can also be very caring and reflects back the interest that anyone else takes in her. However when faced with criticism she considers unjustified like when her parents tried to keep her away from her grandfather when she was younger saying she was 'too little' to be spending time with him, she has difficulty handling it. Such situations bring out the worst in her. J'sane becomes very stubborn and unable to listen to anyone, even someone who might try to intervene in the situation and help her get through it.

HISTORY:
If there is a more backwater place to come from, J'sane is not sure what it is. She was born there, the last of six daughters just two turns before her parents’ longed for son. The hold is located in a remote location, part of a much larger hold led by a Lord Holder, although Jessane is not quite sure who. Nor is she certain about which weyr protects them, only that she has seen them fly high in the sky and the Thread the Harpers have taught about has not come. Beast Mountain Hold is focused on work and work alone. Everyone living there is required to work to sustain the beasts they trade in so that the hold can survive. Everything in daily life is focused on that function.
Everyone in the hold seems to throw themselves into this life, everyone except for Jessane. She does well enough working with the beasts, she even learns a little about leatherworking. But it is not enough. Her attention and interests are too scattered for such a boring life.
Her main area of interest is healing. Her beloved grandfather, Hughmac, is the hold healer who has taught her a lot of basic skills due to the fact that because of the remoteness of the hold few journeymen passthrough and he always seemed to be in need of extra hands. Jessane was the light of her grandfather’s life as well and he wished he could teach her everything she wanted to know, but he saw the rising discontent within her and knew to do that would only contribute to it. He decided therefore to teach her the only thing that would cement her place in the hold and that was healing. He rationalized that even once he was gone and a new healer took his place, the need for the healing abilities she had would always exist and therefore make her valuable. Jessane learned quickly and loved helping those sick or in pain, human and animal alike. Her increasing skills brought her into her parents’ notice, they kind of pushed aside the fact that they had only allocated one person to give him assistance when needed, for they unfortunately usually only saw her as a member of their hoard of daughters. Originally it had kept them from making betrothal plans as early as possible as they had her older sisters. But once she approached the age of 18, they decided her time was up. Hughmac protected Jessane until the summer of her 17th year, then he took ill and her parents began looking around for a bonding for their daughter that would benefit them most with no thought as to what Jessane might want.
They decided the best use of their daughter with her pretty features and skill in healing was to use her to lure a skilled beastmaster who expressed a dislike for his current hold to Beast Mountain Hold. But Jessane would have none of it. She had disagreed with so much of the traditional life that she had loud arguments with her parents before, but this attempt to capture her life pushed Jessane to take drastic action.
A trader train was leaving to take beasts to a Gather in a far away hold. Hughmac paid the trading leader to allow Jessane to disguise herself as one of the young boys who performed most of the dirty work on the train so she could slip past her parents and travel with them to the Gather where she might find herself a new start in a new 'world', Hughmac worried about Jessane's lack of knowledge about the rest of Pern, but better to buy her a fresh start rather than watch her wilt day by day in the life her parents seemed determined to foist on her. In addition to funding her escape, in her pocket Jessane had two marks, a parting gift from a loving grandfather.
Jessane arrived at the Gather and viewed the new place with excitement and joy. Why had she not done this long ago, she wondered. There was so much to do and so much to know! She had purchased two bubblies to eat and was enjoying juice flowing down her chin when she bumped into a dragon and his rider who made her an interesting offer. Become a dragonrider? Jessane could not stop herself from looking up into the sky and thinking, sure…why not?

Jessane moved into the candidate barracks and made fast friends with Serekka another girl from a hold who became her roommate. With great determination, she embarked on the task of learning everything she could about the weyr and Impressing dragon. She observed the mating flight and joined the other candidates for the Touching on the Hatching Grounds where she felt the touch of several dragon minds, mostly in a positive manner. But when the Hatching grew close, Jessane became worried. What if being a dragonrider was not the right path for her? She had been helping in infirmary and enjoyed her work there. Maybe she should head for HealerHall.

The question was taken from her hands one day when the eggs began to Hatch and she was chosen by blue Quirreth.

Why do you think these choice/s would be a good fit?: These colors seem to have roles in the weyr that are more flexible which is what Jessane needs.

FULL APPEARANCE:
Quirreth is an average sized blue with a medium build and a round face with slightly squinty eyes. Despite dragons not having the most expressive of faces, he manages to always look happy to see everyone he meets. He is pretty cute. His hide is a medium blue with a faint dappling pattern, fading to a lighter color on his belly and wingsails. He has a round marking in the same lighter color on his face.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Quite a friendly dragon compared to some of his siblings, Quirreth is a happy blue. He is an explorer, a traveler at heart. He has a deep wanderlust, wishing to see the world as much as he can. He can make friends everywhere, though he is rather even. Hardly overbearing, Quirreth has a calm demeanor. He shows a quiet excitement in him, chipper without bouncing out of his hide over it. He has a positive outlook, finding something good in everyone even if they deny it. That hardly means he can be pushed around. He has a firm head on his shoulders, and is surprisingly spry for his friendly and soft appearance.

To his rider, Quirreth is happy to let them learn and go at their own pace. He wants to share what he sees, how he sees and experiences the world, but he is careful to not overstep his bounds. This comes down to him coming off as rather passive, and seeming like he is someone who does not wish to be involved. He prefers to stay out of the big picture, wishing instead to travel on his own paths and trails. Though he will one day desire to settle down, there is too much out there to see.

Voice: Quirreth's voice is optimistic, always greeting people politely and seeing the world half-full.


Why Me?: Quirreth's fascination with the world may extend to Jessane's area of expertise, but right now he's more concerned with seeing everything. The journey is always more fun with a companion, of course.
