BASICS
NAME: F'rey (Previously Freya)
GENDER: Female
PRONOUNS: She/Her/Hers
ORIENTATION: Undecided, leans Heterosexually but lacks experience.
BIRTHDATE: Born Early Spring, Turn 2753
AGE: 19 as of Turn 2772
LOCATION: Fort Weyr
OCCUPATION:
WING: N/A
APPEARANCE
EYES: Pale blue-gray, tired under long, dark eyelashes and stress lines.
HAIR: Platinum blonde with pale brown roots- bleached naturally with homemade shampoo scrubs over many turns. Densely curly, the color darkens every turn, hinting at an eventual brunette. Never truly cut, she keeps her hair treated and tied up and out of the way, commonly in tedious braids.
HEIGHT AND BUILD: A surprisingly fit 5'8" (and still growing, to eventually reach a delightfully beefy 5'10")
FULL APPEARANCE:
She has a dark complexion prone to pale scars, which show up the most on her hands and feet from years of hard work as a small holder's middle daughter. Her hair is densely curled and has been left to grow long enough to need braiding to be manageable. Its faded color is the result of experimenting with its care over many turns, dry at its tips and bleached with raw lye soap one too many times. It does serve to distract from the shocking blue of her eyes, often thought to be the only trait she inherited from her father, the picture of her mother otherwise.
F'rey is a sturdy lass, tall and wide in the shoulder and hip alike. Lean from hard times but never malnutrition, the girl is arguably fitter than the traditional sort might consider to be attractive, with muscles toned from heavy work that a lack of brothers meant for her growing up. She might dress like one, but this girl's no lady, which could be why she was never her father's favorite.
She carries herself with dignity but lacks the pride to back it, never quite meeting anyone's eyes in conversation and presenting herself as small and unassuming when uncomfortable.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
F'rey is proud of her heritage but refuses to abide to tradition despite it. She puts others before herself, always, to a self-detrimental fault. She never shirks work she agrees to but doesn't always make time for her own chores. Since arriving in the Weyr, she's learning some manners at least, but still can't stop cussing or pointing out uncomfortable honesties. She hasn't learned to shut up, even though it's held her back in life.
PROS: Dutiful, Generous, Sturdy, Reliable
When F'rey says she'll do something, she sticks to it. She offers a lot of herself to others and puts 110% into everything she does- assuming it's not her traditional role back home as some dude's wife, anyway. There's a strength to her that doesn't seem to let up, both physically and by way of her indomitable spirit. She'll help you fix your life up with a smile, even as hers falls apart around her.
NEUTRAL: Honest, Industrious, Restless, Aloof
Where she's strong in ability she lacks in socializing; F'rey struggles to keep true relationships with others due to her blatant honesty and lack of consideration when it comes to others' feelings. While she'll work herself to her grave, she'll accidentally neglect the friendships she makes along the way, often leaving her alone and her own needs left unattended- as she'll never remember herself as she is currently. She leaves little room in her life for pleasantries.
CONS: Obscene, Resentful, Guarded, Neglectful
Foul mouthed and mannerless despite her upbringing in a minor but respectable hold, F'rey's lack of filter is probably her worst trait. She deflects from herself and can even get cruel in trying to change the subject, often pointing out flaws or mistakes that -she- could fix and hey let's just focus on that for a second? Ignore the pot boiling over in her head, she'll just use that frustration to fix the hole that just appeared in your house- totally accidental, let me just---
She skipped a lot of lessons growing up and is thusly under-educated. While she can read and write, it's at a much lower level than is appropriate for her age and status. Struggles with words but is gifted with mathematics given reason to try. Since arriving to the Weyr, this has improved slowly but surely and most recently as she matures she's found herself more interested at least in calculation. She may always struggle to read, but finds it helps to read aloud and can sometimes be found tucked into a corner practicing with quiet muttering.
She loves the sea but hates woodland and similar settings for the bugs and humidity. As a kid, she enjoyed sailing with her parents from time to time on business excursions. She has a well-cherished spyglass from one of these minor voyages and wears the compact but rough-hewn treasure on a sling around her neck unless forced to remove it- and then it is hung with care in her quarters, out of reach of too-young hands that might wander in for an inspection.
F'rey fears enclosed spaces and the feeling of being trapped. The claustrophobic aspects of her fears are manageable, but only if she feels she can escape the situation easily enough. A closet won't cause more than discomfort but a coffin would instill actual, primal terror in the otherwise steadfast lass.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Mother called Fredani, father called Keyad. Three sisters, of which two are much older and one younger- left vague in case they're played in future. Elder sisters are both married now, but haven't had children of their own yet. F'rey has never met their partners.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A - leaving this here for later use ;o
BIRTHPLACE: Minor Hold near Fort
HISTORY:
Childhood (0-10 Turns)
Freya was third born of four daughters to Lord Holder Keyad and his aging wife Fredani. With both older sisters already grown and set to marry into holdings of their own, Freya was expected to follow suit in turn. Instead, she did everything within her small power to avoid such responsibilities. Shirking lessons in favor of helping with chores- 'it's fine, the harper won't mind if it's for something so important'- or purposefully filling her free time with extra make-work, Freya built for herself a near unhealthy work ethic before she'd reached ten turns.
Youth (11-15 Turns)
Blooming into a teen only made Freya's bad habits worse. Where she sought excitement and hard challenges in life, her parents were gearing her up for an eventual life as someone's wife and mother. With a firmer understanding of what it would mean for her, Freya became more and more resistant to the plans her parents had for her.
Freya spent more and more time away the older she got, busying herself with odd jobs and learning more by work than by book. By 15, she'd spent more time working crops and gutters than she ever had singing the old ballads- and she was keen to keep it that way.
Early Adulthood (16 Turns)
Being searched at the age of 16 changed Freya's life extensively. Even though she failed to impress her first time on the sands, she remained with Fort Weyr, a dedicated candidate for every hatching she could attend thereafter. Even if she never does impress, the tough young woman is dead set on spending her life amongst dragons and their folk. She'd make many mistakes and earn a few strikes to her name as a youth in the weyr but with a determination to leave hold life behind forever, Freya's finally starting to own up to it.
Freya still struggles with tradition and authority but she takes her tasks in the weyr seriously, even if she does question everything she doesn't agree with. She's prone to sneaking down to watch the weyrlings practice when she ought to be studying and still lacks in her academics as a result. She can, at least, recount the various important dragon sagas by song, even if she has a horrible singing voice for it.
Regarding recent events since her arrival at Fort Weyr, Freya's anti-tradition stance has only crystalized with the upheaval of leadership and inner turmoil of the weyr. The uneasy peace is welcome, especially now that Freya's encroaching adulthood means she'll have a more active role in such politics, but if sides break out again, she also knows which she'll take- and it won't be with the one time-honored traditions that she'd thought she'd finally escaped.
Post-Impression (16 - Present)
Freya stands for Serapheth's clutch at Fort Weyr and impresses at last! She takes the name F'rey and immediately adores her beloved Brown Calyptrath.
