PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Calm under pressure and used to working well with the rest of his family there is a quiet steadiness to Beron. He has always been seen as someone to depend on, someone to rely on, and he works hard to be there for his friends and family.
Beron is shy, and takes time to measure his words. This means he isn’t particularly quick to let people close to him. Beron has often wrestled with bouts of panic, especially in social settings and as a child he fought a severe stutter. The close knit community of the cothold meant that most people understood him, or knew to simply be patient with the young man. However children of all stripes can be cruel, and his innate shy nature combined with the stutter, gave him a reputation for being slow. A fact the cotholder's his age often needled him with.
Drawn to animals, he could have easily retreated further from the others, if not for his sister. Vibrant, beautiful and well liked, she worked with a Harper apprentice to help him practice his speech, and made sure to help him polish his writing. If he could write his thoughts to others, the stutter mattered less and over time Beron learned to measure his speech and overcame much of his social impediment.
Beron slowly worked on connecting with the other cotholder youth, but for all that he's polite and willing to quietly look out for people, he does so while keeping an emotional distance. He'll talk, but for the most part it will be kept at a surface level. He has found a new sense of comraderie but deep down he is unused to the social crush of the Candidate barracks.
Beron is careful not to let his temper run loose, knowing that arguments in the wilder fields and pastures could quickly become far more than a simple tussle. He channels his anger and frustration into physical activity, enjoying the chance to walk the mountains, or indulging in a favourite of his; watching the dragons fly. He can’t believe he might get the chance to actually Impress a dragon and has taken to the duties of a Candidate with determination.

BIRTHPLACE: Fort Weyr area cothold
HISTORY:
Beron was born to a couple of Beastcrafters who had always lived within the shadow of Fort Weyr. Both his parents were proud of their work, proud of the herdbeasts they raised and nurtured, knowing that many of the Dragons flew with their animals in their bellies when they fought Thread.
Each of their children had been raised to know the tales and stories of storied dragonriders, as well as the proud history of their own Weyr. The cothold was well looked after, with the families making sure to keep the creeping vines and other plants cleared. It was hard work each year, but Beron grew up seeing how strong hands working together make lighter work.
He attended some schooling with the Harpers, mostly at the urging of his older sister Sarah. She was the eldest, and had seen first hand the benefit of knowledge when she had entered her apprenticeship with the nearby Healer. Beron didn't mind school, though he had no burning desire to become a Harper, his calling the animals and countryside.
His parents ensured all their children had a chance to work hard, and on the last festival day, Beron got up the nerve to meet with the Dragonrider who was doing the Search. He'd always loved seeing the Dragons flying in and out of the Weyr, watching them dance among the clouds; but had kept himself back from the others during past Gatheri occured. To his surprise he was deemed as a Candidate by the rider, her green dragon holding him with her multi coloured gaze. Like a dream, he made his way to Fort Weyr, where he has been working hard to catch up with his letters and reading, along with all the other duties. As a non weyrborn, he'd never known how much work went into the care of the noble dragons and whers, but as someone who had grown around herdbeasts a lot of it was familiar work.
