FULL APPEARANCE: Okino is positively tiny; standing around 5'5" with a petite, thin frame. Their posture is good, however, and they often stand up straight - yet, they show plenty of expression in their body language, even if their facial expressions are often fairly stoic and neutral. Their skin is pale, and their blonde hair is cut short and shaggy. Their eyes are a light hazel. They often dress in darker clothes, not intending to stand out in the way of fashion, often sticking to riding clothes and whatever's needed for the time.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Okino's demeanour is often calm, collected, and rational - he usually remains relaxed in the face of danger, or stress. He doesn't particularly show much emotion, appearing neutral and stoic most of the time, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone, and can often be distant towards others. He doesn't really let on much to his conversational partners as to what he's thinking, or feeling, and rarely shares any personal information about himself at all - what's not told by his knots, or what's not his obligation to tell, he doesn't. He deliberately makes himself seem closed-off and unassuming, keeping his cards closed to his chest, not often giving answers to questions that would give anything away about himself, simply because he doesn't like sharing that information with others.
That said - if there is one thing Okino wants people to know about him, it's that he is very intelligent. In fact, he believes most other people to be dumber than him. He has an analytical, logical mind that retains facts easily, and he greatly values information; he is cunning, using clever language to try to gain that information from others, while not giving away any about himself. Though he is bright, he is condescending and sometimes outright rude towards others, in a cocky and sarcastic 'I am clearly smarter than you' way; and isn't particularly above exploiting the less smart for information. Yet, he doesn't do it to harm, simply to know. His tone is slightly more playful with those he likes, as oftentimes he can form a soft spot for those who are endearingly dumb, flirting with knowledge as if to say 'I know something you don't know, and I'm not gonna tell you what it is'.
Okino is task-focused, and driven by a natural curiosity and yearning for knowledge; he will pursue his goals, and tries his best to let nothing interfere with him. When he performs his duties, he rarely - if not never - accepts help from others, preferring to work alone. He isn't a team player at all, feeling like extra hands will only hinder his work, rather than help - he tends to ignore and disregard the opinions of others. Despite this, he always works towards what he believes to be the greater good of the Weyr.

HISTORY: Born at Ista as a product of flightlust, Okino didn't really have a lot of contact with his parents. His mother visited on sporadic occasions, and his father was entirely absent from the equation - leaving him to spend the majority of his childhood observing the world around him. He always grew up with a knack for learning and an insatiable desire for knowledge; on the contrary, it meant that he never particularly gelled with other kids, being fairly uninterested in actually making friends. It would detract time from learning, after all - or at least this was his original motivation to distance himself.
As he grew up and started developing an ego, he started to believe himself to be smarter and wiser than the other children. He didn't want to play games, he wanted to learn all about Pern, about dragons and whers and Thread. As a result of everything he'd learned, he wanted to become a candidate as soon as he was able; he believed it was one's duty to help with the ever-present problem of Thread. He picked up lessons very easily, yet getting frustrated with the candidates who couldn't. After a while, he started to grow bored. He didn't want to do menial chores, he wanted to learn, surely there was more information out there waiting for him. In the autumn of 2770, as he turned seventeen, as soon as he found out that he could expand his horizons, he did. He became a dual candidate, and impressed not long after becoming a candidate, in the winter - a bronze wher, with whom he felt he was instantly on a similar wavelength, more so than any human he'd met before this.
Throughout wherlinghood he discovered that there was still information out there, for him to learn, about whers - he'd already done plenty of research whenever he could, but still, he felt honoured to finally have a hands-on approach - wherlinghood was fairly easy for him, flying by in a blink of an eye. In this time he'd become increasingly interested in exploring more of Pern now that he had a companion on which he could rely; Semaca, perhaps, caught his eye as a new location to live. The place was new, only founded seven turns prior to his graduation, surely there was much of it to explore. And, as he graduated, he moved to Semaca, enlisting in one of the more research-focused squads.
