FULL APPEARANCE: Over the Turns, Liyanel has created aer own gender expression blending elements of femininity and masculinity. Ae keeps aer brown hair relatively long, framing an angular face with features just shy of delicate. Ae will often wear dresses or skirts with pants underneath, everything well-coordinated and in the latest fashions, but will sometimes opt for a pants-and-shirt outfit depending on aer mood. Especially when wearing only pants on the bottom, ae will accent aer outfits with pieces from aer small but well-loved jewelry collection. Aer voice would be low for a woman and high for a man, and is surprisingly pleasant and warm when ae’s not extremely emotional.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Liyanel is very much a product of aer upbringing. Being groomed to take over a minor Hold has given aer a strong sense of responsibility while also contributing to aer naïveté. If it worked at home, ae thinks, it should work now even if it needs to be modified a bit. Ae is outwardly confident in aer intelligence and judgment and has a tendency to see situations in black and white. A surefire way to get aer angry is to call aer stupid or bring up past mistakes; ae has become increasingly insecure about aer capabilities since being fostered at a larger Hold but still wants to seem outwardly competent.
Ae has many lofty goals for aer life - the key word being many. Ae generally describes aerself as indecisive about the future, though ae wants to do something meaningful with aer life; ae has a tendency to create detailed plans and then end up changing aer mind or not following through with them. One thing that remains constant is aer desire to help as many people as possible, though ae waffles about whether ae wants to do it on an individual level or on a grander scale in a traditional leadership role.
Relating to people is...difficult for Liyanel, despite the fact that ae genuinely likes them and enjoys social interaction. Ae constantly seeks validation from those ae respects and loves, but ae finds that aer shorter-term opinions of them change quickly. Small slights can leave aer holding a grudge for days, and brief gestures of affection can brighten Liyanel’s opinion of a person. Over the Turns, ae’s gotten good at hiding how deeply (positively or negatively) ae feels about a person, but this will never be easy for aer. Forming meaningful new relationships is not easy for aer, though aer life has given aer practice in faking it until ae makes it or gives up entirely.

HISTORY: Liyanel’s parents met at a Gather. Aer father was of the Blood of Southern Boll, though barely, and aer mother was the lady of a minor hold near Telgar. They fell in love, and since Linar was basically guaranteed to never inherit and sort of a black sheep to boot, the match was at least not forbidden. Linar happily moved to his new wife’s hold and became lord consort. Linar and Nyana’s first child was labeled as a boy, but as soon as ae could talk and had some concept of gender, ae knew that ae was, in fact, not a boy at all. Neither was ae a girl, or in fact any gender whatsoever.
Emaran, aer nonbinary sibling, was born not quite two Turns later, and though the siblings had differing personalities and interests, they bonded over the misunderstanding of those outside their family. Their parents gave Emaran the space xe needed while training the enthusiastic Liyanel to take over after them. Ae was also close with aer little sister Elnore. Ae visited nearby Telgar Hold often and wanted to make their small hold into something rivaling Telgar. Though ae realized soon enough that it wasn’t going to happen, ae wanted to help make the lives of aer future holders better however ae could.
Deciding it was a good idea for sixteen-Turn-old Liyanel to get some exposure to the broader world, aer parents had aer fostered in Southern Boll, where Linar had grown up. There, ae had a short fling with Gaerel, a fosterling from Benden Hold, before Gaerel was caught up in some drama and hurriedly Searched in short order. Ae lost track of him and eventually moved on. Or ae likes to think ae did, anyway. After returning home, ae visited some friends in Southern Boll and was Searched for Fort while there. Emaran’s accidental bonding to Almarask soon afterward left Elnore as the heir presumptive of aer home, and Liyanel worries a little even though ae’s excited to have the chance to Impress.

- Winter 2764 - Liyanel is left Standing at Serapheth's Soldiers of Sorrow clutch. Ae is more devastated than ae lets on; ae doesn't take "failure" well.
- Spring 2765 - Liyanel is left standing at Caesurath's Melodies and Muses clutch at Semaca. Ae, again, does not take this well.
- Summer 2765 - Blue Fisher comes into Liyanel's life and begins to help Liyanel relax a little.
- Summer 2765 - The third time is not the charm for poor Liyanel, left standing at Serapheth's Trailblazers clutch. After the initial trauma of seeing people mortally injured, ae's actually kind of glad ae didn't Impress Nornth. Ae transfers to High Reaches, though, because ae is not dealing with Serapheth, Nornth, and Exiath all in one Weyr.
- Fall 2765 - The fourth time rewards Liyanel. Transferring to Semaca for a mysterious gold egg on their Sands, ae Impresses to the hatchling, gold Nebulaeth.
- Winter 2765 - Nebulaeth meets another gold for the first time, gold Nuuth of Benden. It does not go well.
