FULL APPEARANCE: Puberty and Smithcrafting did Saji good. Thanks to his craft, he is strong and muscular, if not especially tall. He keeps his brown hair cut short, even though it's always a little messier than he would like. He's usually found with warmth in his brown eyes, a smile dancing on the edge of his lips. He dresses plainly, usually in blues or browns. He has a few small scars on his hands and arms from his work.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Saji is a kind soul, wanting peace and happiness for everyone. The only things he truly loathes are conflict and Thread, and he is determined to make Pern a better place by getting rid of them. He firmly believes that there are peaceful resolutions to every problem between people, and that fighting should only be used as an absolute last resort. While he used to believe almost naively in the nobility of dragonriders, his faith in them was shaken when he learned about Pern's war-torn past. He still believes that they do important work fighting Thread, but refuses to accept that any dragon could ever need to fight another.
Saji has an unfortunate tendency to run from his problems, and tends to be caught up in them against his will. He's stubborn in his pacifism, to the point of endangering himself and others because he doesn't want to fight. His eyes are always to the future, and he can often be found daydreaming, neglecting the now in favor of what could be.
When it comes to work, Saji is dedicated to both his craft and his job as a Candidate. He wants to prove himself worthy of a dragon someday, but is determined to help the Weyr with his craft in any way he can until he Impresses. While he'll always be more of a follower than a leader, he enjoys working with others on chores and projects.

Saji was born as the second child to a pair of weyrfolk in Telgar. His mother died soon after he was born, and he was raised by his father for a few Turns. Sadly, his father passed away of illness when Saji was eight, and he and thirteen-year-old Kinue were left orphaned. Kinue had already apprenticed as a scribe by that time, but she did the best she could to keep an eye on her little brother.
When he was thirteen, Saji apprenticed as a smith. His sister Impressed a green from the stands shortly afterward, and Saji was thrilled. He became fascinated with dragons, and began to Stand as soon as he aged in. He didn't succeed, but continued to work on his apprenticeship in the meantime.
Kinue and her green died in Threadfall when Saji was seventeen, and he was heartbroken. He had lost his entire family by that point. He eventually kept going in memory of his sister, even more determined to Impress and fight thread. He still had no luck as a candidate, but finished his apprenticeship, walking the tables when he was twenty-two.
Since he was close to aging out at Telgar, and Semaca needed smiths, he chose to transfer down and keep trying for a dragon. He had six more Turns to Stand at Semaca, instead of the one he would have had at Telgar. Maybe he would have some luck there.
UPDATES
- Summer 2767 - Saji reunites with an old acquaintance, Soran, from Telgar. The two begin to grow closer.
- Fall 2767 - Saji is left standing for probably the dozenth time at Nebulaeth's maiden clutch. He is disheartened, but continues to persevere.
- Winter 2767 - After transferring to Fort for Nornth's maiden clutch, Saji Impresses bronze Veototh, the first dragon to hatch.
