FULL APPEARANCE:
Karaze's face has a soft, angular look, with a small nose. His eyes are a light grey. His hair is black and falls just short of his chin. He tries to keep it swept to one side, but it tends to fall in his eyes despite his best efforts. He is of an average build, fit but not athletic. He doesn't look all that strong and really isn't, though he'll need to toughen up if he ends up bonding a wher. He dresses for the day, so if that involves weaving he will likely wear something light and comfortable.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
One thing that is painfully obvious about Karaze is his lack of a backbone. When faced with confrontation, he's more likely to step aside and bend to the will of others in order to avoid making a fuss. He has the spunk to fight back, but he lacks the fortitude to do so. He’s ashamed of this and resolves to do better each time, but he ends of conceding when pressed.
He has a stubborn streak that comes out in force when plying his craft. He takes pride in his work and demands nothing but the best from himself, even if he is still learning. Though he's nowhere near a master, is more than happy to give advice to anyone who need help. Weaving his passion and he finds it rather therapeutic when making something simple that he can make via muscle memory. When starting with a new pattern, he can be hard on himself if it doesn't turn out right the first time. Logically, he knows things won't be perfect the first time, but it's not always possible to convince his anxious side of that. He's found the best way to combat these thoughts is to power through and try again. The more he practices the better he gets, and he's able to put those negative thoughts to rest.
He's shy around his peers, especially those he's put on a pedestal. He's not likely to approach people, but he will reciprocate should someone speak to him. It takes a bit to get him out of his comfort zone, but as he becomes more familiar with someone the more he talks. He can be very chatty when speaking about his interests, especially weaving, and starts to ramble. A polite interruption is all that it takes to stop him, and he'll blush when he realizes how excited he was and apologize profusely. His voice rises in volume when he's enjoying a conversation, needs to be reminded to use an indoor voice.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Karon of Blue Karosk; guard
Anazale; weaver
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Southern Boll
HISTORY:
Karaze was born at Southern Boll hold to Karon and Anazale, the former a guard and the latter a weaver. Karon had the fortune of being bonded to a sweet blue Wher named Karosk. Karosk was just as fond of Karaze as he was of his handler, so the boy had time to play with the wher when they were off duty. Despite Karosk's interest in Karaze, Karon was rather distant, almost as though he was in his own little world. He'd give his son pats on the head or treats from time to time, but never spent much time with him otherwise. Anazale, on the other hand, was very much a helicopter parent, making sure she knew everything her boy was up to. Thus, Karaze spent much of his childhood being policed by his mother and was rarely out of her sight.
As soon as Karaze was old enough to apprentice, Anazale pushed him into the weaver craft despite his protests. Any attempts to try and branch off into another craft were met with resistance, and as he didn't have the courage to speak up, he stayed with the craft. He did end up enjoying it despite it not being his choice, but he secretly resented his mother for making the choice for him. As he grew, he took more and more to embroidery, showing a true talent for it. He threw himself into his work and was able to graduate to journeyman at 18.
Desiring to improve his craft further (and to try and get away from his mother), he bucked up the courage to transfer to Semaca, finding the idea of the fledgling Weyr appealing. There, maybe, he could finally do something he'd always wanted to do: stand for a wher clutch. He'd never forgotten his fondness for Karosk and hoped for a wher of his own. He arrived at Semaca mere weeks before the Golden Ghost left her egg, and though he didn't bond to the hatchling, he was determined to stand for future wher eggs with the hope of bonding with his own.
