He will often wear neutral colors, wearing clothes that often cover his entire body. He has a small metal earring in his ear, a gift from his father when he started his apprenticeship.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Dedue is quiet, very quiet. He tends not to speak much, especially around others his age. He often seems a bit tense when he's in a group of people and will often keep to himself. It takes a long time for him to bond with someone and feel open about talking to them. He will normally talk to just Essengeth and will shut out others if they pester him. He has little to no tolerance of people pestering him.
He tends to be suspicious of others. For all he knows, they would be ready to poison someone, like with what happened with the Trailblazers. Due to this, he has trust issues and tends to isolate himself. He doesn't trust anyone to not cause harm Essengeth or anyone else. After all, the Trailblazers were very young when they were poisoned. If someone was willing to do that to young dragons, they'd be willing to do it to a fully grown rider. Because of the trust issues, he will tend to speak harshly to those trying to befriend them. To him, you can only trust yourself and your dragon. Not even your weyr is willing to protect you.
Much like Essengeth, he is very fond of gardening. He seems more relaxed around plants and will often get small plants to put around his room to tend to when he isn't busy with classes.

BIRTHPLACE: Outlying Cothold
HISTORY:
Dedue lived a simple life in a cothold, his father being a master smither. He would often help his mother out in her garden and play with his younger sister. He would also assist his mother in cooking. He was a quiet and reserved child, who planned on following his father's footsteps and becoming a smither.
At the age of eight, Dedue entered apprenticeship, learning under another smither who had learned from Dedue's father. Dedue was not as skilled as he was with gardening and cooking, but he still worked hard. Slowly, he began to make progress, albeit at a slower rate than others his age in their apprenticeships.
It was during his apprenticeship that a searchrider came and found Dedue in the hold at the age of fifteen. The rider seemed to think Dedue would have been a good candidate for Fort Weyr. Dedue's family was excited for this. It wasn't everyday that someone from a hold would be searched and be able to become a candidate. As a result, his parents and sister encouraged him to go to the weyr. After a couple days to think on it, Dedue told the searchrider he was happy to become a candidate and headed to Fort Weyr.
Living at Fort Weyr was different than Dedue expected. He went to classes with the others in his candidacy class and felt a bit uneasy. They were not people he was used to. Because of this, he often kept to himself, only listening to them as they discussed news.
After two years, there had been a disastrous Threadfall where a goldrider was killed and five riders betweened. He began to wonder if becoming a candidate was really the best idea and eventually decided that, if he aged out, he would return home and work hard to become a smithcraft journeyman.
Dedue was a diligent student, often studying and keeping to himself still. He was very quiet and would often not talk about what was going on with the other candidates. In 2764, Serapheth rose as the senior queen and there was an attack, Vaugnairth attacking Keramerth and being grounded as a result. It seemed the clutch was cursed as well, as Benden Weyr attacked during the touching. Two riders were kidnapped.
While the riders were saved, this did not seem to be the last of the trouble the weyr had. A clutch of dragons laid by Serapheth had a violent hatching and were later poisoned with Fellis, resulting in a green dying and several of the dragons developing lifelong disabilities. Along with this, the person suspected of poisoning them left without being prosecuted. Along with this, a delegation was sent by Ista Weyr to delegate a new weyrleader. It was short-lived as Tuckal took back control of the weyr.
This made Dedue feel sick to his stomach and he began to think it may be best if he returned home. This became even worse as the tension between the traditionalists and progressives grew. However, he decided to stay until he aged out. However, in 2770, one night during a sleepover that took place after the candidates attended the touching laid by Gold Serapheth, there was a strange surreal dream. It seemed Dedue was not alone in this at all, as other candidates talked about the dream. However, he kept his thoughts to himself.
As the resulting hatching took place, the plain egg, just a simple red color, began to move after the first dragon hatched. With a little assistance from Serapheth, a small green dragon hatched and walked up to Dedue. The young green was named Essengeth and the two were bonded. They had very similar personalities, including a fondness of plants.
However, soon, another clutch was born in Fort Weyr, only to disappear suddenly. This was alarming and, when it was discovered High Reaches Weyr had the clutch and it hatched, it caused a lot of tension between the two weyrs.
Neither Dedue or Essengeth liked the tension in the air, from the traditionalists and progressives and the stolen eggs (along with Dedue's past feelings), and eventually decided that upon graduating, both of them would transfer to Semaca Weyr. Plus, from what he understood, the weyr would be a nice place for both him and Essengeth. They may even be able to have their own little garden as a result.
