FULL APPEARANCE: Despite not being one of the tallest men around, Chirrut nonetheless cuts an imposing figure. Underneath his black robes, he is very muscular, if not as brawny as Baze. He keeps his black hair cropped tightly, framing a face that shows few signs of his age. He takes care of himself well, even though he'll never be fashionable. He moves with grace and confidence, and it is sometimes hard to remember that he's blind, especially when he's in a familiar environment.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: One would expect Chirrut to be a stoic warrior type. He is anything but. He can often be found with a smile on his face, especially when he's around Baze. Which is a lot of the time. He has a well-developed sense of humor and is completely unafraid to crack jokes about his blindness. He definitely has the "embarrassing dad" thing going for him. He's super fond of dad jokes and making innuendos solely to embarrass his daughter and husband.
Chirrut is an extremely centered person, in his way. He has long since accepted the loss of almost everything he once held dear - his family, his first wher, and his sight - and has a strong trust in fate. Fate brought him to Baze, and what more could he ask for than that? He believes that everything will work out the way it was meant to and calmly brushes off anyone who tells him otherwise. He's reckless with his life, trusting that Baze, and fate, will keep him safe. And if he is meant to die, then he will accept it peacefully, since it was meant to be.
Even before he lost his sight, Chirrut was an incredibly perceptive person. His physical and emotional sensitivity have both increased over the Turns. It is difficult to take him by surprise, and harder still to keep secrets from him.
HISTORY

SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Baze

HISTORY: Chirrut was the only child of a pair of weyrmated wherhandlers. Though they were busy with their duties, they spent as much time with their son as they could. He was introduced to whers at an early age, and worked hard to become a worthy candidate. When he was seventeen, at his first hatching, he lucked out and was presented with an egg that would become brown Chirrusk. In his early twenties, soon after he'd graduated, he found another bond in the form of Baze of brown Malbuth. He'd been fast friends with the other man since childhood, and it was no surprise to anyone that they became weyrmates after their bondeds were both grown.
The topic of children came up, and Chirrut decided that he and Baze would make great fathers. A friend of theirs, Zeara, became pregnant by Baze, and Chirrut was thrilled.
Soon after the pregnancy was confirmed, though, tragedy struck. His parents' whers had eaten tainted wherry meat and spread their sickness to his parents before the culls began. Chirrusk had also eaten the same meat. Chirrut was lucky to escape with only his sight lost, but his parents, their whers, and his own Chirrusk were not so lucky. As soon as Chirrut was well, he threw himself equally into training to compensate for his sight and fussing over Zeara.
Zerabazae was a friend-shaped, shining beacon of hope amidst the darkness, and Chirrut loved his daughter fiercely. He watched with pride as she grew up, and solemnly winked when she was chewed out for her candidacy shenanigans. When Baze became junior weyrleader, he realized that maybe his daughter should not be running amok. As much. He could not have been prouder of her and her new friend-shaped blue Ryloth.
While Z'zae was busy with weyrlinghood and Baze with his new duties, Chirrut had more time to himself. He chose not to dwell on his losses, including the fact that Ryloth reminded him painfully of Chirrusk. He instead returned to his old home, helping out the wherhandlers while placidly refusing to try for a rebond. Chirrusk's memory was too fresh, even after all the Turns of Z'zae's life, and he wanted to spend as much time with his family as possible.
Seeing Z'zae's attachment to O'tlan after Ryloth caught Kadiith, Chirrut adopted him as a son-in-law and hasn't stopped thinking of him as such despite the ensuing drama. His grandson was another bright spot in Chirrut's life, and Chirrut settled into full Embarrassing Paternal Mode.
In the next three Turns, Chirrut almost lost everything. Malbuth was lost to Threadfall, and Z'zae almost lost to childbirth. Chirrut came out of it with his trust in fate battered but intact. He would help Baze through his loss as Baze had helped him, and Z'zae would make a full recovery. What was meant to be, would be.
That didn't stop him from keeping an even closer eye on Z'zae. When she transferred down to Semaca, he followed her and convinced Baze to do the same. He's also beginning to think about rebonding. He isn't really sure what made him consider the change; perhaps his family's nagging is finally getting to him.
