I'riah is a reasonably attractive young man, with hazel eyes and dark brown, nearly black hair. His build is lean rather than bulky, though he does have the compact muscle of a dragonrider and of one who performs quite a bit of manual labor. His skin is on the darker side, and his hair is kept long rather than short, going all the way to his waist at the longest point. He has a few scars on his arms and legs, though none from any one particularly serious source.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
An open-minded, intelligent individual, I'riah makes use of information given to him but doesn't share secrets of those who entrust them. He's rather introverted, preferring in large part to work alone rather than with a group, which makes him suited for Chopin squad where he can focus on his craft and help around the Weyr in his own way rather than having to constantly be around others. This is not to say he can't be social or in crowds, he just needs time after a while to be alone and recharge his energy. If extended past his limit in dealing with other people, he will become notably hostile and "snippy" toward those around him until permitted to unwind alone. Even Glynrith cannot soothe him during these times.
He's patient to a fault, often giving others far too much time to complete a task. At the same time, he's pessimistic, really not believing that said task will be completed at all until it is. He doesn't get on well with optimists, tending to shoot down their positive opinions and uplifting speeches with his own negativity.
He's rather socially awkward despite himself, and he doesn't get attached to people or to things very easily. He is also far from sentimental, though is particularly cautious about who he shares his secrets with. It takes a lot to get close to him.
Although he works hard, he can find himself overworking into a stupor, sometimes ending up in him being hurt by himself or others. He's also stubborn, and it's impossible to change his opinion, for better or worse, once it has formed. It doesn't help that he's a perfectionist and sets impossibly high standards for those around him.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Various living relatives
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Ista Minor Hold
HISTORY:
Izariah was born as the result of an affair between a man and a woman with whom he was not married. When knowledge of the infant was gleaned, the man left affiliation with the woman, leaving her to handle the child alone. Rather than stay and be reminded of the man she loved, she left to return to the Hold of her birth. At this place she had her son, who looked quite like his father. Rather than tend to the child and the memories he brought forth, and not ready to be a single mother, she left the infant in the care of her once-estranged mother, the one who had been helping with her pregnancy. He grew up with many "siblings," most of whom were orphaned or simple Hold-neighborhood children who came to the matriarch for sweets. She was a well-known baker, though didn't pass the knowledge on to her grandson.
He wasn't neglected, but neither was he spoiled.
As soon as he came of age, he picked up a craft--tanning. He had a fascination with the leatherworkers of the Hold and was quick to join them at any opportunity despite the smell of tanning hides.
As a teen he was an awkward, gangling thing, always bumping into things and earning scratches and bruises. He was considered attractive by the local girls and dealt uncomfortably with their teasing and pursuit. At sixteen he was Searched to Ista, taking him away from the home he had known for his entire life. There he earned an education and eventually graduated to Journeyman in his craft. When he finally Impressed to his dragon Glynrith, he was very surprised. He was very sure he would age out.
But while Ista had become his home for many, many Turns, he yearned to venture elsewhere. He'd heard of Semaca and their plight, and then their recovery, and found himself interested. After some arrangements, he and Glynrith were able to arrange transfer to the southern continent's Weyr. Even with the pirate-sailors, he thinks he'll enjoy his time there.
