FULL APPEARANCE:
Warm brown eyes go with Tie'ni's broad smile, and a riot of short curls halos her head. Light brown skin bears freckles and one or two small Threadscores, suggesting that she's no shrinking flower of womanhood. It's the size of the woman that really sets her apart, though; toweringly tall, and with broad shoulders and wrists to boot, keeping her in clothes must have been a full-time job for a tailor at some point in her past.
Usually clad in riding leathers over a shirt and bodice worn into comfort, Tie'ni prefers boots and trews to skirts and dresses. Still, her bodices are generally of rich fabrics that are meant to be seen, adding a touch of luxury to her overall practicality without using much fabric to do it.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Tie'ni is a woman who's strong and resilient, with a ready smile and a warm heart. She's more emotionally-intelligent than she is book-smart, and she generally likes people. She's fairly good at working out why someone thinks the way they do, and at understanding their points; what she's not as good at are things like maths, and her handwriting looks like a trundlebug fell in an inkwell before wandering across the page.
There's a lingering insecurity and general feeling of inadequacy following her and Russeth's treatment at Benden, but overall Tie'ni sets things like that aside in favour of presenting a good face. She rarely lets out her problems, instead preferring to take in everyone else's and help them rather than deal with her own. After all, other peoples' problems are something she might be able to help with, and it's better to be doing something useful than getting herself and Russeth down.
Russeth has been a great help to Tie'ni, a warm and energetic counterpoint to someone who'd prefer not to be the centre of attention; under his influence she's settled on something more purposeful than she had been beforehand. She, meanwhile, tempers his sheer energy and effusiveness, reminding him that sometimes people need time to relax and maybe he can try it every now and again, too.
HISTORY
FAMILY: B'rit of green Termalith (father), Toniali, a few half-siblings
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Benden Weyr
HISTORY:
TW: bullying, Benden
Tieniali had a perfectly normal weyr childhood at Benden. The daughter of flightlust between a greenrider and one of the Lower Caverns women, she was packed off to the creche at the first opportunity; her mother checked in on occasion, but Tieniali's father and green Termalith were always there for her.
Tieniali, perhaps understandably, grew up wanting to be a dragonrider. She hoped for a green like her father's, which gave her a fairly easy life when it came to the other Candidates; they assumed she wanted nothing to do with the politicking and the jockeying for power that would come with the shiny hide most of them coveted, and they were absolutely right. While that kept her out of the worst of the infighting, though, it did lead to being considered among the lowest-ranking Candidates, the ones with least potential who'd never amount to much. That, combined with Tieniali's sheer size and lack of balance due to frequent growth spurts, had the more ambitious Candidates assuming that she was slow and stupid mentally as well as physically, a notion she did nothing to dismiss.
So when the first egg on the sands to crack split to reveal a bronze nose, and then a bronze dragonet, the whole class - including Tieniali - were shocked, not least because the egg was very small for such a large dragonet. When the little dragon with the gleaming hide bounced past the waiting boys and chose the huge simpleton at her first Hatching, it sent ripples through the Weyr.
Tie'ni and Russeth did not have a fun time during Weyrlinghood. The little bronze stayed small, only a little bigger than the blues, despite being a solidly- and sturdily-built dragon in the very best of health - and his rider, of course, was female, which was a huge mark against them and proof to Benden that Russeth was defective. Tie'ni fed him every time he was hungry, but despite all the meat he packed away he only ever packed on muscle and bone, never expanding into the dimensions that his hide suggested he should. He stayed only a little larger than the blues, albeit perfectly-proportioned for a bronze.
Russeth and Tie'ni graduated into one of the flying wings, just a few sevendays after the Weyrs agreed that dragons had to reach a certain age before they could transfer between Weyrs. They didn't enjoy the respect usually given a bronzepair at Benden, and they mostly marked their time in grim silence, waiting for the day they could leave and taking pleasure in the smaller things when the larger things were denied them.
And then that day came and they departed for High Reaches, a place that almost had to be better for them than Benden - and Benden was just as glad to see the back of the runty bronze and his woman as they were to go.
