FULL APPEARANCE:
Marcanthoni is a big boi. What's scarier is he probably has room to grow. His limbs are very long as well as his back, though his legs seem the most pitiful. There's barely muscle to them, its a miracle he can stand on his own. There's decent muscle in his arms and back, from constantly lifting heavy boxes and moving cargo about. His hands and feet, while in proportion to himself are pretty large.
Marcanthoni considers his looks pretty average. He's far from dashing and handsome, but his face and expressions are usually warm and inviting. He has a rather defined nose that turns slightly upward and a squared jaw covered in tanned skin. He has an occasional burst of darker skin spots but not enough to really count as being 'freckled'. His mother simply put it as: 'boyish charm'. He almost never wears 'new' clothing, as most of his attire is very casual an worn looking. There's always patches somewhere and the ends of his pants and sleeves are always scuffed and ragged looking, as if him just wearing them is making them shred to pieces.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Marcanthoni is a generally pleasant and friendly individual. He's the kind of guy that you meet once and he'll call out to you across a room or wherever and start waving excitedly. Now realize he basically hits the ceiling, so you'll be very hard-pressed to have him not see you. He's very excitable, always ready to cheer and have a good time. Some people might find him a bit... 'much' in this regard, but really, he's just passionate.
It's very hard to dissuade him on things or ruin his good mood. He knows what he likes and he's determined to enjoy it. Of course, it's also just as hard to convince him when something is a bad idea. He's gotten himself hurt or into trouble a number of times because he was simply sure it would work out better. It's hard to say if this is because he's stubborn or just blissfully unaware of consequences. For all his 'good vibes' and encouragement to others: Marcanthoni is a bit lacking in the brain department... or perhaps simply forgetful. It comes and goes. A main example is that while he is aware that he's big, he's mindful to not crush things in his hands, but he forgets to check where he's going. It's very common for him to simply walk into the top of doorways or things he needs to duck under, and he knocks into them decently hard. He doesn't get mad, of course, merely laughs and walks it off as he rubs his new bruise, but he'll do it again shortly after.
He's also impressively bad at math. So poor at it, that most people assume he's faking or playing a joke. He remembers rules concerning math problems, but he tends to forget when these rules need to be applied. So much of the time, he ends up coming up with his own rules of how the numbers come together and 99% of the time.... it's not right. He's simply that bad but he'll explain it with the optimistic confidence of a math genius. (If you've ever seen the Abbot and Costello Multiplication bit; it's basically that but he genuinely thinks math works like that.)
Though, arguably the most important fact about Marcanthoni is that the only way to get his attention is to say his name in full. You can't use a nickname, you can't shorten it; he simply won't answer. Not out of pettiness or anything like that. It's just it wont register in his mind you're speaking to him. Even if he's the only one around, clearly you're addressing a 'Marc' or an 'Anthony' somewhere. Not him: 'Marcanthoni'. Overall, he's just a very nice guy with some very peculiar habits.

HISTORY:
Marcanthoni is the eldest child of a family run caravan. It's a small operation, only with a few carts and modest products. They always travel the same areas and do business with the same places. Nothing of much note, but like many parents, all the Turns of work are expected to be upheld and passed down as a rite of passage.
When Marcanthoni was was born, both his parents each thought of a name for him, a combination of past relatives on each individual side. A good way to cement the ideals of family and tradition with their first born. Unfortunately... the two neglected to actually make a decision concerning one another, and found themselves unable to decide of which name to actually go with shortly after his birth. Being the reasonable adults they were, why not split the difference? They'd just use the two names interchangeably and see which one their son took to. So of course, Marcanthoni did not choose sides and kept both, to the point it is impossible to address him with one alone.
Marcanthoni had a relatively unimpressive childhood. It was hard on the road, constantly traveling, but he was well loved and cared for by his folks and other family members. They were proud of how big and strong he grew, able to handle the physical burdens of moving cargo as well as having a good feel for people. Marcanthoni was very friendly and negotiable, able to happily chat up potential vendors and buyers alike. He seemed to put people and easy and make them not feel like they were pressured to buy. Frankly, he seemed like a perfect contender to take over the whole operation when his father intended to step down when the time came. However, there was one drawback....
Marcanthoni was terrible at math. While he could read and write well enough (with very bad penmanship, btw), his parents were horrified at his attempts to figure pricing. Sometimes he overcharged and threatened to insult business partners, or other times severely undercharge that he almost charged nothing. At any given transaction, Marcanthoni was hemorrhaging products and marks like a burst dam. Of course, this wouldn't be an issue as they had other children to take over... but the two knew it would just break their eldest son's heart. To be talked up and grown to love the life of traders, only to be told how horribly poor he was at it.... only good as a muscled laborer. They just couldn't do it.... Not to mention it was a very big expectation to have their son marry off and then expect his spouse to handle all that. Too much risk.... and frankly, they were convinced they'd never talk Marcanthoni to not take the lead of it.
So, they thought of another work around. To ensure their son would have a good life for himself, they thought that maybe he could become a candidate. It was fulfilling work, would provide all he needed should he get a dragon or wher, and the family may even get a trading tie with the Weyr he'd go to. It seemed completely logical, though of course, Marcanthoni only laughed it off. Still convinced the life of a caravan trader was his path, his parents had to take matters into their own hands. For the good of the caravan and for the good of their son. Any chance they could, they put out word for Searchriders to come and see then. Words around Holds and any dragonriders they came across. Anything to catch their eye and make them notice Marcanthoni.
Despite all their hapless decisions prior, this one seemed to work. Eventually, a rider and their dragon did meet with Marcanthoni. The dragon didn't even hesitate to announce that the young man had potential for impression. Hearing this, his parents tripled their efforts to try and convince their son to go. As much as they'd miss him, they knew it would be a much grander life for him at a Weyr. (Plus, if they could get him to also stand for whers, they knew the creatures to be even less picky than a dragon. Bonus.)
