Ysayle
"You fight in a war you do not understand─a pawn of liars and schemers. And they are no less ignorant than you! Following the creed of their fathers without question, never thinking to ask why. Trapped in a delusion of their own creation and blind to the truth."

She keeps her hair stubbornly at waist-length, wearing it down as much as possible, but has gotten good at a variety of hairstyles if it gets in the way. She is also fond of blue clothing, though of a much deeper shade than her eyes. If possible, she likes light blue accents, and she is also extremely fond of black leather boots.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Ysayle is a woman of burning conviction. Her lifelong goal is to sear Thread from the skies, and she is determined to be the best candidate possible. She wishes to ride bronze, so that she might be Weyrleader someday and make sure the tragedy of her childhood never happens again. She dislikes the democratic systems of Semaca and High Reaches simply because they belong to Weyrs with less might than those who follow the traditional system, and strives to lead a Weyr with strong, numerous dragons. She also wishes for peace and cooperation among the Weyrs of Pern, that they might band together against their common enemy and stop the petty squabbles that take up so much time that could be spent against Thread.
She is capable of change and seeing other points of view, though she will defend herself staunchly. While not exactly fond of arguing with others who disagree with her, she finds herself doing it often, simply because she is right. In general, she has quite the temper, especially when something dear to her is insulted or threatened.
Ultimately, having her beloved parents torn away from her at an early age, Ysayle is lonely. She finds it difficult to relate to others who grew up without tragedy marring their lives, and though she holds no jealousy anymore, there is still a feeling of being apart, being other, being meant for something greater that prevents her from making friends without some ulterior motive.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Parents - dead, younger siblings - Fort Weyr residents
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Small cothold beholden to Fort
HISTORY: Ysayle had a happy first twelve Turns of life on a small farming cothold. Her family was far from rich, but she had no concept of riches, or desire for more. She lived a simple life, playing with her younger siblings and helping out around the household and farm. Traders came for goods, and she listened eagerly to their stories, but felt no need to explore the outside world herself.
It all changed during Threadfall when Ysayle had recently Turned twelve. A few strands had escaped the wings and ground crews over the area near Ysayle's cothold. Her parents had been out of the hold taking care of a runaway bovine and never made it home. Ysayle told her siblings to stay put at home and went to search for their parents.
Returning without a word, she gathered up her siblings, put the youngest two on the back of the only runnerbeast they'd owned, and led them to Fort Weyr. Stone-faced, she explained her story and begged shelter for herself and her siblings. The children were taken in as weyrbrats, working with a mindhealer to cope with their grief. Ysayle hadn't broken, but the fierce-eyed girl that emerged from the fires of grief was a far different person than the happy farmbrat she'd once been.
Ysayle worked diligently to prove herself worthy of staying, not that she needed to, and presented herself to the candidatemaster bright and early on the morning of her fifteenth Turning-day. Bitter disappointment followed for over eight Turns, but Ysayle refuses to give up hope. There is a bronze, waiting for her. And if not at Fort, then surely at Semaca or High Reaches.
