FULL APPEARANCE:
Geoffrey is a man built strongly from his years as a smith, broad shoulders, strong arms and all. He has a square sort of jaw covered a beard that is essentially just long stubble at this point, and his ears stick out noticeably, but only just a little bit. His skin is a nice beige that often seems to lose its color in the winter months, but gains a soft tan during the summer. His mouth is often set in a disapproving manner, eyebrows not quite in a scowl, giving him the general appearance of someone who is sort of stern.
A collared shirt with the collar sticking out from underneath his favorite red scarf, some dark pants, a long coat and boots is the most common outfit to find Geoffrey in. In the summer he sheds his coat and goes for more lighter shirts, but he still wears his scarf no matter the weather.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Geoffrey is a leader first and foremost, he knows how to rally a group of people behind him, he knows how to plan strategies and formulate plots. He believes in the people he works with, knowing that if they all pull their weight, there's less room for error. He does, however, weigh the needs and lives of the many over those of the few. He doesn't come off nearly as smart as he is as the way he presents himself and the way he talks don't do much to help him seem all too smart, but while he's not genius levels of smart, he's smart enough to know when to step up to and back away from the fight. Although, if a situation gets rough and he's already in it for the long haul (aka: lost enough in the fight, put too much time into a specific thing), there is little to no way that you'll be able to pull him away from his way of thinking and acting unless you are a persuasive god. He is incredibly, incredibly stubborn and has been known to be a little rash when adrenaline kicks into his brain.
He's a very self-confident realist, he believes that, given enough time, he could amount to pretty much anything he worked hard enough at. Besides this, Geoffrey has a penchant for holding grudges against people who have double-crossed or simply aggravated him to his boiling point. He's passive-aggressive when he talks and sarcastic, maybe a little bit snarky. He knows when to tone it down, and often it is, but if you have gotten on his bad side his more aggressive tendencies tend to augment themselves. He has a flair for the dramatic that he does not like people knowing about, but sometimes he'll say something or make a gesture that is just overdramatic enough that you'd think something is up with him.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Eldritch of Blue Eldrsk and Blue Eldrisk (adoptive father, deceased), Catherine (mother, deceased), Ronan (father, deceased), Ian of Blue Eldriiask (older brother, alive)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: A mining hold beholden to Fort Weyr
HISTORY:
Geoffrey never knew his parents. His mother died in childbirth and his father died of sickness, leaving behind a baby Geoff and his seven year old brother, Ian. The two were raised by a close friend of his father's who Ronan had asked to watch over them. Eldritch, an older, but talented smith, who moved out to the hold in order to repair their picks and other tools, had came there with his two whers years prior. He was kind, but strict, and he taught both boys the ways of smithing so they wouldn't have to work in the mines, something Geoffrey was very glad about.
Years passed, Geoffrey and Ian had worked at becoming smiths and their progress shown quite nicely. As Eldritch got older and more frail, more sickly, the two boys took it upon themselves to make sure that they were washed and looked after properly. Geoffrey made better friends with Eldrsk, a gentler wher who cared for others, rather than Eldrisk who was chalk filled with smart sounding things that he didn't really care to learn about, but who Ian seemed to love listening to. As time went on, Eldritch passed away. They mourned, of course Geoffrey mourned. Eldritch was the only father figure, or parent figure for that matter, that he had. But, he soon picked himself up and continued on. There was no worth in losing time over someone already gone.
Their taking care of the whers had payed off in a way. With their handler dead from old age, they would either leave (which would not benefit the hold at all) or bond to one of the two boys. Lucky for the hold, the latter was the option that ended up going through. While Ian bonded to Eldrisk, now Eldriiask, Geoffrey bonded to Eldrsk, who picked up the name Eldreosk. The two duos continued the way they were for some more years, repairing tools, taking care of their respective whers, hunting and protecting the hold. There was nothing to complain about.
Until there was. Day in, day out, the same thing every day. It could kill a man, the repetitiveness of it all. Needing to leave, he needed to think of what would happen if he left. He knew that a hold with two whers would be able to hold its own, and the same went with a hold with one wher. While Eldreosk was older, Eldriiask was wiser, smarter, if the hold was left with only one wher, they were better off with Eldriiask. Talking it all over with his brother, they came to the conclusion that, while they would not be better off if Geoffrey left, they would be able to manage themselves well enough. Leaving almost at once, the wherhandler pair made their way to the closest Weyr, Fort, to break a tedious pattern and replace it with yet another.
After a year or two at the Weyr, Geoffrey was promoted to Dusk Squadleader, a position that he felt he may be able to succeed in. He had a fair amount of co-leadership skills gained while back in his hometown hold, he figured that he should be able to run a squad. His stubbornness would get him through the position.
