FULL APPEARANCE: Acxa was born with a long face and dark eyes, which causes her default expression to appear serious. It's not a default she's inclined to change, and honestly? It kind of suits her. She wears her hair cropped too short to really do anything with besides push it behind her ears. Where some girls might wear fripperies and foibles, Acxa is as plain as they come. Her clothing choices are sensible and sober, tending towards dark colors and a close fit. The strategic leather reinforcements are not seamless - she put them in herself, and they look it. She's a fighter, not a tailor.
When it comes to moving, Acxa never seems to stay in one place. She'll be motionless for a while, almost melting into the background before changing position. When sparring or fighting, she throws everything she's got into the fight. She can spar with words, but prefers her fists, which are better suited to the throwing of punches.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Acxa is quiet. She's observant, and acts mostly for herself in the absence of an honor bond. When she gives her loyalty to someone, she's a perfectly obedient vassal. The trouble comes when she requires parity in that loyalty - that is, she needs a bond that goes both ways. There are only so many bad orders Acxa can stomach, and she will one hundred percent put a mission, a task, above her own personal needs. It makes her an excellent scout and an effective guard, but hinders her interpersonal development. When left to her own devices, she's awkward. Most of her friend-making occurs because someone else made the first effort.
When she is in her element, Acxa's motivation is to maintain the status quo. She doesn't strive for better, or different. If her needs are met, things are okay.
Her time as a rider, particularly as Kaniyath's rider, has gone great lengths to help her settle. The routine, the camaraderie of her wing, the frequent life-threatening situations they undergo, give her the clearly defined edges that she has always craved. Her weyrling class has scattered across the globe, but her wing has become a source of routine and comfort for her.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Estranged. Acxa believes in found family these days.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: vaguely open for one?
BIRTHPLACE: Telgar Hold
HISTORY:
Acxa was born one of several children, in a family that frequently fostered children in and out. Her father was a wherhandler while her mother was a Holder, and they were decent parents. No, really, even Acxa would say that she didn't leave home because of her parents. The problem came from her desire to start a career. Her mother's half-sister offered to foster her to get her better access to a Master Miner who (she promised) was willing and excited to take on an apprentice, and Acxa liked the idea of mining. It would be hard work, but she'd never been afraid of work, and the regular routine appealed to her. The trouble came two-fold, from her foster parents, who were less stable than Acxa needed, and from the Master Miner himself, who it turned out did not like Acxa's aunt. In the wake of her rejection, and in the absence of the firm routine she had been looking forward too, Acxa applied for work as a guard a Turn later.
She did well enough as a guard, honing her body into a weapon. She made friends, formed alliances, and even Impressed a fire lizard - blue Trispzest (Zest for short). But she wanted something more. By twenty, she had come to crave a partner, someone to have her back as she had theirs. She applied to try for a wher at twenty-one.
Fate was against her, though, as she attended hatching after hatching without attaching a partner. Buying an egg would have been simpler, but it felt like cheating to Acxa. There was something disingenuous about trapping a hatchling into a bond by being the only one present, or so Acxa felt. She eventually made her way to Telgar Weyr, where she was officially Searched about a month after arrival. Acxa agreed to also Stand for dragon clutches, if there was one happening. Unfortunately for her, there weren't any eggs on the Sands just then. So she stood for another wher clutch, and was passed over once again.
That would probably have continued if gold Nornth hadn't caused such a ruckus over at Fort Weyr. The weyr threw candidacy open to essentially anyone who wanted to have a go at the eggs of a dragon proven violent enough to kill, and Acxa was a candidate already. She transferred to have a go at her first dragon clutch, and was passed over. Dragon candidacy seemed to suit her a little bit better than whers, though, and Acxa stayed at Fort even after the loss of their junior gold.
