FULL APPEARANCE: Despite being tall, with a curveless figure, Nova looks relatively androgynous. Their figure is thin and wiry, but they don't care to hide their lack of curves. If you're as attractive as them, you should flaunt it, as far as they're concerned. They like dramatic outfits, such as intricate dresses. Fashion is important, and where most of their money goes. They prefer the color blue, especially pale, in their clothing. Their hair, worn short, is ginger red in color. Pale skin that burns easily is complemented by icy blue eyes. They have a handsome jawline and are somewhat attractive--just not as beautiful as they think they are.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:As an arrogant and “cultured” individual, Nova speaks in a formal, logical manner...though they tend to throw in insults and swears as they please, at jarring contrast with the rest of their speech. Confident to an extreme, they are sure of their abilities and strengths. Determination suits them; they are ambitious, and do not give up. They are decisive, and would make a good leader in some regards. While they pride themselves on being just and fair, they prefer equality and logic over equity and ethos. They find emotions, generally speaking, illogical, pointless, and irrational, and will not take them into consideration. They think in a black-and-white manner. Either things are, or they aren’t, and there is no room for error. They work within rule and law, but excel at finding loopholes.
When motivated, they are a hard worker. Nova is meticulous and efficient, but with a utilitarian worldview. They don’t mind causing others suffering, as long as the largest number of people benefit. Sometimes, the simplest solution is the best one, and they don’t hesitate to harm others for the benefit of the many. As a result, they can be harsh, ruthless, even cruel. They are logical, perhaps too much so. That said, they think they know best, and are extremely stubborn. They tend to lie often, but will be blunt about your shortcomings. Secretive, they keep their plans to themselves, and do not trust easily. They are bitter, sarcastic, and rude, and often rather off putting to others. Disdainful of others, they are not open-minded. They are quick to place blame on others, and are rooted in their opinions. While their loyalty takes time to cultivate, they are surprisingly loyal, and make a point to always repay a debt.

BIRTHPLACE: High Reaches Weyr
HISTORY: Born during Golre's rule, during the war, Nova was the first and only born to A'raen and Kavon. Their father, a bronzerider and a Golre supporter, was high ranking within High Reaches. Nova, from a young age, admired him, and was proud of him. Their mother, a greenrider, was quiet and reserved, unlike their father, who was arrogant and proud. They disdained their mother, despite her loving nature, from a young age. Their parents' relationship contained a strong power differential; while A'raen was respected, Kavon was scorned, but necessary. There was love between them, despite the lack of power balance. Kavon did as A'raen said; A'raen didn't listen to Kavon's desires. Nova followed A'raen's example, scorning their mother's work.
While they have half siblings, due to A'raen's flightlust when participating in goldflights, none of these are recognized by A'raen as his children. Similarly, Kavon's other children were not given much attention--just Nova, the child of Kavon's love. When Nova was 13 or so, the war ended. At 15, they became a candidate, and took their new knots proudly. Candidates were scorned; but they were destined to Impress bronze, they were sure, so they were fine. It was around this time that they began to insist on gender neutral pronouns, and despite the traditional nature of their father, they were accepted easily by their family. As a bronzerider's child, Nova was given some degree of respect among their fellow candidates. Clearly, unlike them, they were meant for greatness. Whether it was their arrogant pride, or their heritage, most candidates seemed to fear or respect them. (Maybe they just gave the irritating candidate a wide berth, though...)
In 2761, when they were 19, their father joined in the attack against Fort. Golre attacked that summer, losing 2 full wings. Among them were A'raen and his bronze. Nova was hit hard by the news, and were determined to continue his legacy. They would Impress bronze, eventually, and support Golre. Their mother, however, was hit harder. Depressed, Kavon isolated in her room, and did not come out, not even for food. Reluctantly, despite not supporting their mother, Nova made a point to bring food to her, and at times, even keep her company. After all, they owe the woman their life, and do harbor some affection towards her.
As a staunch supporter of Golre, even as a candidate, some of the kidnapped candidates hated them. They managed to keep enough of a sense of pride and power about them to prevent themselves from being flat out attacked, but they were scorned by some groups of candidates. After all...they were kind of a jerk about it. The season after their father's death, in Autumn, however, Golre was killed in an attack on Fort Weyr, and Nova was left looking like a fool.
They made a point of acting like they were reformed, even showing respect when other color riders stepped up to lead, as disgusting as their father would find that. High Reaches, in their opinion, must be returned to its former glory. Regardless of their beliefs about hierarchy, the losses the weyr has sustained through threadfall, and the lack of a clutching gold, worry them greatly. They will stay at High Reaches, to make it the wonderful place they remember. Sometimes, however, they wonder...is their memory of High Reaches clouded by their memories of their father? Do they want to restore High Reaches, or do they just want their father back? Still, they stand for every clutch, no matter how small. A dragonrider is a dragonrider, they suppose. Even should they Impress outside of HR, they will return, and they know it.
