ORIENTATION: Has crushed on One Person Ever but doesn't accept that.
BIRTHDATE: Spring 2749
AGE: 26 as of Summer 2775
LOCATION: Fort Weyr
OCCUPATION: Wher handler
WING: Ground Crew [Dusk Squad]
APPEARANCE
EYES: Brown
HAIR: Brown
HEIGHT AND BUILD: Slender, but muscular, standing at 5'11"
PLAY-BY: Catra from She-Ra: Princesses of Power
EXPY SOURCE: Catra from She-Ra
FULL APPEARANCE: Despite her slender and feminine build, Arkta's form is clearly strong. Her muscles are firm and defined, just lean, and do not take away from the surprisingly elegant form of her body. She stands at 5'11", just above average height, but holds herself with fierce determination. Her curves are soft and subtle, but evident nonetheless. With olive skin, a splattering of freckles, and light brown eyes, she is pretty enough, but her fierce expression and contrary attitude often take away from this. She has a sharp jawline, however, with thick eyebrows, and does not look especially feminine, traditionally at least. Her hair, while a bit shaggy and messy, is worn long and mostly straight. The color, when compared to the brown of her eyes, seems darker, but in fact it is a mousy brown.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Above all else, Arkta is stubborn. If she thinks she's right--which she often does--she digs her heels in and refuses to budge. Unfortunately, she has a rebellious attitude, and dislikes following rules she doesn't agree with. She can be contrary, too--if you haven't earned her respect, she will likely make insubordinate comments and act like she's too lazy to do what you want her to do. Snide comments suit her well, and she tends towards a smoothly teasing attitude. That said, Arkta is far from calm. Fierce and full of attitude, Arkta can and will sass you. She acts like nothing bothers her, but certain things get her very worked up. Surprisingly emotional for someone who seems so unaffected at times, she struggles with controlling and hiding her emotions. Despite acting strong and tough, she seeks approval and feels hurt/abandonment strongly. She won't admit it, but she will lash out.
While Arkta is an extremely lazy individual, who dislikes putting work in, she is strongly motivated by things like revenge, spite, and hurt/anger. She's determined to meet her goals, but has no interest in helping you with yours, or doing for the Weyr. Her moral code doesn't put others first, and can be very self-serving. Her loved ones are also a priority, but forsk anyone else--they can deal with it themselves. She has surprising ambitions (usually tied to those motivations), but can lack followthrough. She did it just fine, you should reward her for what she did, rather than expect her to actually take initiative. She thinks she's great, and her arrogance around her performance is often her downfall. Arkta is quite independent, almost to a fault: she doesn't need anyone, and actively refuses help.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
-Mother: Arana [Deceased]
-Father: Misktan [Deceased]
-Raised by a guard [Mystacor of Brown Mystask] with Adora
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None, but Adora is relevant to this...
BIRTHPLACE: Fort Hold
HISTORY: Born in 2749 at Fort Hold, she was the only child born to Misktan. Arana, her mother, died in childbirth. Misktan simply disappeared when Arkta was an toddler, and Arkta, for many turns, held out hope that he might return. She was put into a foster family, but at the age of 7, the family decided they could not handle her. She was lazy, it seemed, and a problem child in many ways--she'd lash out, yell, scream...and refuse to do what was asked of her. Contrary and rebellious, she required a more rigid family life, it seemed.
A wherhandler at Fort Hold, one who was raising another girl, took her in, during the turn of 2756. She'd known Adora, and even been a friend of hers, but when the two were trained so closely together, Adora became her dearest friend. Mystacor saw some potential in both girls, but Arkta's fierceness was overshadowed by her laziness, and it soon became clear that Mystacor favored the more motivated Adora. Still, at this time, Arkta didn't have much resentment for Adora, though there was some. She grew to dislike Mystacor, but Adora was her safety, the one she could rely on, her dearest friend.
When the girls were 12, Evander became lord, and Mystacor became one of his trusted guards. Once again, Mystacor's favoritism became evident: she presented Adora as a future guard to Evander, leaving Arkta feeling like she wasn't good enough. Sure...she never tried when it came to her training, but...still, she was just as good as Adora...right? Still, both girls were loyal to Evander, but when he died a turn later, Mystacor lost her status and power. Mystacor continued to groom them, hoping to regain power through the two future guards--especially Adora. After Vellaren became the new Lord of the hold, following the plague, Adora was searched to Fort Weyr.
Arkta stood among the hopefuls, but was not found suitable. Not that she would have left home anyways--but the fact that Adora was "good enough" for dragons and she was not stung. She didn't expect Adora to accept search, to leave Arkta behind...but she did. Adora left her. Mystacor began to train Arkta to take Adora's place, while Arkta's resentment and anger grew. For the first time, she felt truly abandoned by her friend--and was, above all else, hurt. She cut ties and refused to keep in contact. Still, she couldn't help but hear, from Mystacor, about Adora's Impression, at her first clutch.
In 2767, Arkta finally was seen as suitable for a wher, according to Mystacor, at least. When she felt like Arkta was ready, she bought a wher egg for the girl, who was thrilled. Her dreams were realized, and she stepped into the role that had been prepared for Adora with surprising determination. Finally motivated, both by Arktask and by her spite/resentment, she tried to rise in power. Not for Mystacor's sake, but this time, for her own (or just to spite Adora). In 2769, at the age of 20, however, the very summer of Arktask's hatchday, Fort Hold rebelled...again. This time, the distrust of handlers drove out Arkta and Mystacor.
With nowhere else to go, Arkta and Arktask made their way to Fort Weyr. She disdained Adora, but she found herself drawn to the woman regardless. Arkta seemed to enjoy mocking her and hating her, to some degree; but really, she was just hiding the hurt she still felt. How dare Adora try to be her friend, after abandoning her without looking back? She wouldn't admit it, but she missed Adora greatly.
She has been a wherhandler at Fort Weyr for a turn, but relations with Adora have not improved, despite the strain it seems to place on Arkta.
