Her skin is on the lighter side, but with a natural tan; and animal-design tattoos cover her left arm. Her hair is a dark auburn, with an undercut on one side, reaching her chin at full length; a contrast to her cobalt blue eyes. As for clothes, she often mostly dresses in shades of black and red, in rather garish or conflicting styles. She carries herself confidently, with good posture.
NOTE: using 200 post major trait for tattoos.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Qanthrin is, at heart, a team leader... or at least she believes she is. She is cocky, feisty, and charismatic, believing she has the skills to do absolutely anything provided she tries (she does not). She is overly optimistic, and thinks that everything will turn out in her favour. Fortunately, 'her favour' is usually not necessarily a bad thing; her morals are good, and past the cockiness and snark, she is genuinely kind and caring towards her friends. She's not very intelligent, however, and very rarely considers the concept that sometimes, things might be too dangerous for her - she considers herself to be way stronger than she actually is, and very rarely responds well to being told to take a step back. As a huge risk-taker, if someone were to tell her that she wasn't strong enough to take on a challenge, she would be highly insulted. Despite low intelligence, she has a good memory; she never forgets a face. Mostly, she doesn't see the point in taking up brainspace with boring academic stuff. While she loves to adventure in general, she finds the most comfort in nature and the wild - hence why she moved to Semaca.
When she gets angry, however, she is unrelenting. She doesn't take kindly to being told she can't do something, or if someone were to hurt someone she cares about. No matter what the issue is - she will try to fight it (often physically). As a friend she is very protective, yet sometimes, she will try to help even after her friend has said they can hold their own. On the contrary, she never accepts help from others. In her opinion, she can help herself. If someone were to point out that this makes her a massive hypocrite, she wouldn't be very happy with them. She really values interpersonal relationships - both friendship and romance are very important to her. She will do literally anything in order to fulfil her needs - whether that be to help herself, or help others, even if it contradicts with her own moral code. She hates having to stand by other people's rules - in her opinion, what makes them objectively right? Because of this, she can often be reckless, and make rash decisions without thinking about the consequences beforehand.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Mother: Aqantha (Weyrfolk)
Father: Enrin (Weyrfolk)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None
BIRTHPLACE: High Reaches Weyr
HISTORY:
Qanthrin was born to two weyrfolk parents in High Reaches Weyr during Golre's tyrannical reign - though she got on well with her parents throughout her childhood, and they doted on her well. However, they were out and proud supporters of Golre, and shielded a lot of the gritty details of how evil she was from their daughter. As they had both aged out of candidacy without Impressing, they really encouraged their daughter to become a candidate as soon as she was able to. As she got older, she started to question her parents' views - this Golre didn't really seem like a good person at all, in spite of what they had told her; despite this, she still became a candidate when she was 15. That was when it hit; her parents had been lying to her for her entire childhood. Golre was not a good leader, nor was she a good person.
Through her candidacy, Qanthrin met a friend in Hanri, another teenage candidate hoping to Impress. The two trusted each other deeply, and she often could vent to her, and confide in her like nobody else - throughout the horrors of the current Weyrwoman's influence on society, she saw her as a light in the dark. Golre died a turn later, in 2761, and candidacy got a lot easier for her... until 2762 when Hanri moved away to Benden, impressed to a Brown dragon two turns later, and her true colours started to show. After moving back to High Reaches after her weyrlinghood ended, in 2765, it became apparent that she adopted views not too dissimilar from Golre, believing greens and blues to be beneath her. Though Qanthrin was ready to welcome her back with open arms, Hanri acted as though they never had a friendship in the first place. Luckily for Qanthrin, a new Weyr had been established on the Southern continent; one with plenty of nature, hot weather, and wild animals. Qanthrin was in love with the sheer idea that a place like that existed, and thus, she set off for Semaca as soon as she could, with not a single goodbye given to Hanri or her parents, and not a single consideration of how dangerous Semaca might be. She just wanted to get out of High Reaches as quickly as possible.
After she arrived at Semaca, she continued her candidacy; she was determined to get that dragon someday. Not because her parents wanted her to, but because she wanted a companion, a partner in crime. Someone she could actually rely on, and even better, a dragon that could help to build the ecosystem in such a new Weyr as Semaca. After the arrival of Nebulaeth to the Weyr, she was hopeful - this place really was going to be huge, the new Weyr to look out for. And she hoped, that with a gold around that seemed... a lot more reasonable than Vizeth, she would finally get her partner. However, with the Weyr's popularity came the pirates; she wasn't afraid, however. If anything, the pirates were a blessing - after all, Semaca was new. They needed resources, even if they had to have been stolen from other places! Yet, her candidacy still continued; she did not worry about aging out, however, as in her eyes, whers were just as good as dragons. The main thing, to her, was a bond she could rely on. A trustworthy connection, unlike the people who let her down in the past.
