Reinhardt is a big, big man. He is 100% muscle and he always has been, not to mention, he's way too tall. The man is a damn brick wall. He has long white hair and a bushy white beard covering his square chin. There's scars all over his body from a) dealing with his wher, b) fighting Thread, c) getting himself into sticky situations.
He lost sight in his left eye years ago from being too cocky during a Threadfall, there's still a scar there that goes from his cheek up through his eyebrow. The eye is white and cloudy. He doesn't enjoy formal clothes, preferring casual or work wear.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Reinhardt is a jolly old man. He feels like a cross between the world's best grandfather and Santa. He's outgoing, wants to inspire hope in others, and regardless of his age, his ambitions are still to help others. He will never admit to his age, and will fight until his last breath due to his unwavering sense of duty. He lives by his own personal code of valor and chivalry. He also is... maybe a little bit too loud, voice wise that is. He definitely has a hard time grasping the idea of an indoor voice.
He cares about everyone, but he would take a 'bullet' for his friends. He's always been very cocky, thinking that he's invincible and that nothing can ever hurt him... and then he goes and gets himself hurt and adds it to his physical/emotional scar collection. He has a lot of guilt on his shoulders from an action he caused in his younger years, and he feels like he has to atone for it by protecting people and making sure that everyone is okay.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Reina (mother, deceased), Falhardt (father, deceased)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Igen Weyr
HISTORY:
Reinhardt was the only child of two Igen cooks. His childhood was otherwise unremarkable. He lived, he made friends, he had dreams. While most kids idolized riders, he wanted to become a wherhandler. He worked out too often, and always thought himself too bulky to be a rider. But, a wher? Oh, those guys were just as big and clunky as he was! They were a perfect match. So, when he was 17 he became a candidate. And, when he was 17, he Impressed to a bronze wher. Reinsk. A damoiseau in distress in his youth, they were both sure that he'd grow into a fine princely wher one of these days.
Between him and Reinsk, who Reinhardt lovingly called the best wher in all of Igen, they were getting pretty cocky. Too cocky, even. Reinhardt wanted to fight in the war, but Igen never chose a side. He never appreciated how they chose to remain neutral, and he most certainly never appreciated High Reaches' tyrant goldpair. One couldn't remain neutral in something like the Interval War. He transferred to Fort Weyr and met one of his then closest friends, Balderich. Together, they fought during the war. However, Reinhardt's massive young adult ego found itself becoming a danger. It reached a boiling point when his ego led to the death of Balderich. He was doing too much, thinking that he was king shit, and not looking out for his fellow squad members. Next thing he knew, Balderich and Baldesk were dead, and it was his fault.
It took a toll on him. He knew that his actions had led to another's death. He went to a mindhealer to vent, and while he got out his emotions... it still didn't do much. It was weighing on him more than he'd like to admit, and he needed to do something to get that void feeling out of his chest. It was then that Reinhardt promised he'd protect everyone as best as he could for as long as he could, no matter the cost of his own health. So, that was what he did. For many, many years, Reinhardt was a stalwart protector to the members of his squad, with Reinsk, finally the princely wher they both thought he'd be, by his side. He poured his heart and soul into his job, and it became his entire life. Be it the Interval war, the battle against Golre, or fighting thread, he would stand and tank the hits so others wouldnt get hurt. The most visible of which being the thread he took to the left eye soon after Balderich's death, blinding him in that eye permanently. It's just a battle scar to him, and he doesn't mind it much anymore.
He refuses to retire, saying that you'd have to kill him before he'd stop working... or that he'd have to get hit pretty bad to make him retire. He is proud of his Weyr- Fort, that is- as patriotic as one could be. Sure, Nornth was a bit... much, but that's fine. She's gone now. He hated High Reaches before because of Golre, he hates them even more now because of those damned egg thieves. You can't trust anyone over there!
