FULL APPEARANCE: Indi is a tall woman with an easy-going smile, her eyes widely spaced and her expression often faraway, a dreamer's softness to their cast. Her skin tone varies, the woman deeply tanned during the summers where she hikes and flies, but the tan seems to drain from her the very minute the cold comes out and her riding outfit becomes excessively protective, and she takes on a pale, unhealthy sort of look that doesn't aid her borderline alarming bony stature. During long, cold winters, the woman can often be found wearing as many clothes as she can carry, persistently frozen except when right beside the hearth.
She could be considered pretty, but there's something just a little bit off about her proportions, rather like a stick-bug made human. Her face is interesting to look at, but not necessarily the kind that would be called 'beautiful' by most. She's got a small burn on her right thigh from a training accident, and several little scars on her fingers and knuckles from inattentive tool usage. She's been lucky to retain her looks.
Back at Ista, her clothing was scanty in the summer, the woman freely advertising the shape of her body for any interested in seeing it; it's not that she was trying to be sexually appealing, it's more... she didn't really care if others see her, and really just wears clothes to spare other people the discomfort. Her style can be considered... quirky, not particularly fashionable but at least interesting to look at, loose and flowing and full of color. Her warm-weather getup is a breastband about her chest and a tunic without sleeves or sides, a tiered skirt flowing from her skinny hips and cheap bracelets dangling from her wrists.
These days, though, in High Reaches, or historically any time the weather turns the least bit cold, Indi's clothing style is as modest as any Lady Holder could wish to see, layers upon layers wrapping her up in cozy comfort! Her riding gear is reinforced with wool and fur, her gloves extra thick to accommodate her poor heat regulation.
Her standard slouch-about-the-Weyr outfit is essentially a snuggie; a giant poncho that she made herself, and it shows, because she's not very good at sewing. It's a multicolored dream-poncho made of scraps and patchwork, and it fits her like a big layered blanket-hood, absolutely stupid looking but hey. It makes her happy and she keeps it clean.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Indi's a bit of an odd bird. She's sweet, she's well-intended, but she forgets... a lot. The woman doesn't hold a grudge, nor does she seem to have a temper, drifting through the day to day like she's pulled by the strains of a tune only she can hear. She can be thoughtless of others, not because she doesn't care or any malice, but simply because it's impossible for her to keep track of things that are important to them. Despite this, she seeks out comfort and companionship from others, always one to like having many friends instead of two or three close ones.
Indi can't focus for the life of her. Her thoughts run through her head like a stampede and they're so loud that sometimes she can't hear the world around her and -- Indi, are you with us? The Harper's voice would interrupt, and she'd be blinking and trying to remember what was just said...
She loves music, and moving her body; being physically active and expressing herself through dance, even song -- it's important to her, just like it's important to Canzeth to fly. She loves to hike and climb, and she's an adequate hand at sketching a map, so she does amateur cartography in what little free times she possesses.
Indi also has a lap dulcimer given to her by a visiting Harper, a simple instrument that she delights in fiddling with. She's not at all trained to play it, but she loves listening to the tones it produces, and has a knack for finding songs on those four familiar strings.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Unspecified; she's the daughter of an Istan Greenrider who sired at least a dozen half-siblings, and her mother rode Brown, but neither was involved in her life and she was raised by the Creche
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Single and down to mingle, but not down for commitment or monogamy
BIRTHPLACE: Ista Weyr
HISTORY: Born a weyrbrat, Indi was raised in relative comfort, an easy-going girl who got along with just about anyone and didn't hold a grudge. She was never much good at the Harper-led lessons, possessed of a memory like a leaking sieve, but was generally charming enough that she didn't get more than a slap on the wrist. It took her a long time to learn to read and write, and even now she's not great at it.
Given chores and other practical tasks, the girl was... middling. She never intended to wander off or forget what she was doing, and she was earnest in her efforts to do what was asked of her, but early on it was determined that she wasn't great at anything that involved being alone. Placed in a group, she needed careful monitoring but was perfectly adequate if she was given the right guidance.
When left to her own devices, Indi could frequently be found exploring hard-to-reach places, particularly the heights around the Weyrbowl. She'd listen to the sounds of the dragons bugling, the wind breathing over the little pits and gullies in the rock to whistle and sing, the insects reaping -- by the time she wandered back to the Weyr, the girl would be in a dazzle, unable to explain herself but filled with the most wonderful sounds...
At fourteen, one of these excursions led her find a clutch of Firelizard eggs, and though the wild Queen would not allow her to get close to the hardening shells, she returned with several others to Impress them as their hatching date arrived, leaving with a little golden queen who she promptly named 'Booger'.
At fifteen, Indi Stood for the first time, waiting to see if her lifemate lay within one of those lovely shells; it was at that Hatching that Indi understood the true gravity of a Dragon bond, becoming overwhelmed by how beautiful it was. At every hatching after, she wept openly, not from jealousy or fear, but because there was so much joy and connection around her. Three turns later, she Impressed to Canzeth, a thousand times more intense than merely watching others.
Canzeth was perfect, and the two were well matched, the dragon a subtle presence in her mind to keep her from becoming too easily distracted. The Weyrlingmaster was pleasantly surprised to find Indi a more than adequate student, and Indi herself was just happy to not be causing problems. She graduated with flying colors, and was soon in the sky flying Thread, a well-turned blue pair who seemed to relish in flying together.
Finally considered both an adult and graduated from Weyrling lessons, Indi found a hedonistic streak within herself and conducted a series of light-hearted physical friendships with different men and women in the Weyr. It became known that she would engage with just about anyone, though she never particularly pursued, quick to reciprocate interest but not to get attached. This ... worked for her, and Indi was easily one of the more promiscuous members of the Weyr. Unfortunately, though it worked well for Indi, she ended up the center of a love triangle that culminated with her Wingsecond and a flashy Bronze from another wing dueling for her romantic favor; she rejected them both. This shook her deeply, and made things... exceptionally awkward during combat drills.
She could have just... transferred wings. When she petitioned to do so, however, she was given the offer to transfer to High Reaches instead, given all that had happened and the help that they needed rebuilding. Indi was interested in the opportunity to find a fresh start, and the rumors she's heard of their new leadership situation piqued her curiosity.
