FULL APPEARANCE:
Venxalim is a man getting on in Turns, with greying blond hair and pale skin. His eyes are bright blue and likely his most striking feature. His face sports a beard and mustache, finely groomed but still present. He has what he likes to call smile lines around his eyes, rather than wrinkles, another sign that he's no longer the youth he once was. His hair is kept trimmed short and generally lays flat, with a slight undercut along the sides. His brows are noticeably thick and darker than the rest of his hair. Clothing-wise, he goes for darker shades, casual but neat-pressed.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Fairly easy-going and happy-go-lucky when interacting with others, Venxalim actually usually prefers to relax rather than exert himself. He likes to act as a sort of helper for new wherhandlers, and tries to give off an experienced air. While he never seems to lie, he has a habit of not quite giving a straight answer, leaving others to make their own judgments. He can be a bit mysterious, though this is not particularly intentional, as he, despite being pleasant, is generally content to be quiet and mind his own business. He's quite forgiving of mistakes. Venxalim is also sentimental, keeping little trinkets and favors--for example, he's got baby teeth from Xalisk made into a little necklace. He's a bit of a romantic at heart.
He has a great aversion to insects and a fear of tunnelsnakes. Despite his laid-back demeanor, has high expectations for those he takes under his wing, which can be a little overwhelming to new handlers. While not outright rigid or strict, he has, in general, very little tolerance for disobedient behavior. Lamentoso squad hits a sour note with him. Venxalim can also be rather rash and forward with his ideals, sometimes going so far as to push them onto others, especially those who do not agree with him.

BIRTHPLACE: Ista cothold
HISTORY:
Venxalim was born in a small cothold beholden to Ista, to a pair of simple farmers. The cothold was inhabited by his parents and extended family and various siblings, so he was little bothered for companionship. He grew up well and wanted for little, though didn't have any education beyond what his parents and family knew. It wasn't until he was Searched at eighteen that he was taught to read and write, and his basic mathmatics, but he found himself drawn to the Whers rather than the dragons. Although he stood for several hatchings, none of them proved fruitful, eventually seeing him switch his candidacy to the available whers of Ista.
At twenty he was finally selected for bonding with an egg, which hatched into his lovely brown Xalisk. The two were close from the start, though Venxalim found himself a bit overwhelmed by the care needed for a newborn dragonkin. He had of course helped around the farm as a child, but there was something different about having others to help and having a life wholly dependent upon him. Luckily, any questions he had were answered by the Wherlingmasters.
As time went on and Xalisk grew, Venxalim found himself falling for one of his classmates, a young woman with whom he became quite close and eventually, after several Turns of courting after their whers matured, weyrmates with, fathering several children. Five total in their time together, but fate would eventually have them separate amicably as the first was coming of age enough to Stand (40).
When his former weyrmate announced she would be leaving Ista Weyr, the two bonded to a pair of firelizards to maintain contact with each other (and she, their children). The two exchange letters to this day.
Despite various turmoils within and without Ista, Venxalim found the Weyr rather idyllic, fond of his patron... but time would see him growing restless, and a bit smothered by his children as he grew older and their fears for injuries for him grew, especially following one Threadfall where he and Xalisk suffered a near-miss. So, he arranged transfer to Semaca, where the Weyr still needed hands and his were still good for something.
