Severus' hair is a dark hue of pure black, cut short and styled neatly. Gone is the shagginess he sported in his younger years, replaced with an attractive cut and style. Severus' eyes are a warm brown color, almost chocolate in hue. A scar runs over one eye, a token of displeasure from a rather disgruntled wherry. In terms of his wardrobe, he tends to wear darker tones; earth tones are reserved for Gathers. Severus often wears sweaters or otherwise long-sleeved clothing, paired with practical slacks and sturdy boots.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Severus is notably withdrawn from others, keeping his complicated emotions shuttered and hidden. Showing emotion is a sign of weakness, as he came to learn. Preferring solitude and quiet, he tends to avoid interaction that isn't mandatory. But when he does interact, he appears bitter and even cold, with a lot of cynicism and a sarcastic sense of humor. On occasion, it appears that Severus enjoys being outright malicious and cruel, for he is vengeful and holds grudges. Given the opportunity, he'd crush his rivals and humiliate them without hesitation, remorse, or mercy. Along with his tendency to hold grudges, Severus is terribly spiteful to those he dislikes, blatantly insulting them and questioning them in every circumstance. Interpersonal skills is something Severus lacks, though he doesn't appear bothered in the slightest.
In his youth, Severus sought to be accepted, adopting some Traditionalist aspects as a result. Severus has since grown to adopt his own understanding of Tradition. While he views himself as a Traditionalist, he doesn't look down on others for being not-Weyrbred or what others might find unacceptable. Severus is one who despises "being ordinary," striving to outshine others and prove himself as extraordinary. Lingering insecurity and vulnerabilities haunt him; he fears abandonment, but pretends he doesn't through standing alone. Yet he finds that making friends is difficult with his cold demeanor, bringing to him immense frustration; frustration he adeptly conceals, along with all other emotion. Though he conceals his feelings, it can explode from him, on occasion. During these outbursts, he is most vulnerable and open, these repressed emotions like a terrifying tidal wave to behold.
Severus demands perfection in himself and those around him. Accidents aren't the result of poor fortune, but rather the ineptitude and inability in those to blame. Severus is cunning and calculating, seeing logic as superior to luck. Under this exterior, he is actually brave and capable of such love, though he doesn't know how to express it. While he may be harsh and extremely demanding, he wants to see those he cares about succeed. Once his loyalty is earned, Severus proves a staunch and dependable ally. For Turns, Severus has held a deep affection for childhood friend Lily, though he expresses it poorly. The rift between them has left Severus confused and hurt, though he refuses to admit to it. In addition, Severus is talented in a variety of fields and a quick learner, rather fond of furthering his knowledge.

BIRTHPLACE: A Ruathan cothold
HISTORY: TW: neglect/abuse
Severus was born in an ordinary cothold to ordinary parents, though neither his father nor mother cared much for him. While his mother often saw fit to ignore him, his father was extraordinarily harsh; even cruel. As a result, Severus grew to be quiet and withdrawn, often fleeing into the scrubby forests to flee for but a moment. It was under a gnarled tree at the top of a hill that he met his best friend: a girl from the cothold, Lily. Lily brought a light to Severus' world that he didn't know existed; she drew him out of his shell, simply being at his side. All through childhood and into adolescence, he never strayed far from Lily's side.
It was an ordinary day for these ordinary people when a Searchdragon chanced upon the cothold. Severus presented himself quietly, along with Lily and Petunia - Lily's sister - though he was convinced he'd be overlooked. What he knew was that Lily would be Searched; brave and kind Lily. What dragon wouldn't choose her? Did Severus have a touch of an awkward crush on Lily at the point?
Candidacy was a fresh new start for Severus and Lily both. Free from the dullness of life in such an inconsequential cothold, they were free to blossom. But life in said cothold had left Severus ignorant to life in the Weyr. The first opinions he heard were the ones he accepted as true, much to his disadvantage. To him and his newfound friends, garnets were abominations that shouldn't exist. Ignoring these niggling feelings that this might be wrong, he elected to follow along and stay in favor with these Traditionalist Candidates. Rather soon after the Search that brought them, Lily Impressed...to a garnet. For his closest friend, he stayed his tongue and congratulated her for Impressing, despite her misfortune in attracting a garnet. But it wasn't long after that when Lily refused to speak to Severus. Severus was confused and hurt, which turned to pure anger.
Severus spoke words in the heat of his anger that he wishes he could've not said. Disgusted and upset, he dove into Candidacy to ignore his tangled emotions. Turns passed and Severus did not Impress. Lily had since graduated and entered Fort's wings. Frustrated and distraught, Severus applied for transfer to Ista Weyr. Perhaps he'd find more luck at Ista than he did at Fort. Without another word to Lily, he departed. More Turns passed with no contact from Lily or his Fortian Traditionalist comrades, until at last, Severus was chosen. In the warmth of Ista's jungles, a wher rolled an egg to Severus' feet. Though the path of the wherhandler wasn't his first selection, it was the sole option left to him. A green emerged, to whom Severus quickly bonded. Verusk was quite the wher, one most wherhandlers would be glad to be bonded. But Severus was uncertain of how he felt about his green. At last, he'd Impressed...but it wasn't to the dragon he and his Fortian friends had agreed upon. It took time, but Severus grew fond of Verusk, and she of him.
Time passed, time which Severus and Verusk spent in the squads of Ista. It was good...for a while. But time caught up with Severus, not only leaving him scarred over one eye from an incident with an angry bird on patrol - a bird Verusk promptly ate - but turning his thoughts to Lily as well. How had the Turns treated her and her garnet? While his duties were here, his heart lingered in Fort; with Lily. Verusk could sense such unease in her bonded's heart and urged him to follow his instincts; go to Fort Weyr and make things right. At some point, Severus elected to follow her advice and his own feelings, requesting transfer to Fort. One way or another, he'd settle the rift he'd left with Lily for his actions; he couldn't bear this weight forever.
