FULL APPEARANCE: Miari's build is nothing to particularly write home about; she's fairly average sized, and average shaped. Her black hair is cut neatly to her chin, framing her face nicely; with a warm, medium-brown skintone and wide, brown eyes. She usually dresses in practical gear at all times - riding leathers, more often than not. She tends to express herself with a lot of body language, yet carrying herself with a fairly unconfident air.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: At a glance, Miari is generally a pleasant person. She is polite and generous, always willing to help people on a superficial level, as best as she can. However, in reality, she always puts herself first - she'd always be willing to put her own needs above others' in order to do what she thinks is the 'right thing'. Her intentions are mostly good, but she's undeniably self-serving and often fails to consider the needs of others. She doesn't intend to hurt others - simply, she is driven, in the way that she will do whatever it takes to save herself from a situation; her personal security is always her biggest priority. Despite this, she can be careless, making flash decisions with little thought put into them, her brain jumping straight to the endpoint, with little consideration for the journey. Though she is intelligent academically, a quick learner for sure; she doesn't often plan ahead, never really thinking about the future, or any consequences that her actions might have.
She wishes she could be an ambitious person, but, what often sets her back, however, is that she can be fairly cowardly when it comes to new experiences, getting stressed easily and instantly backing away from anything that feels like it could be 'threatening'. Miari doesn't usually face her problems head-on; she runs away from them, with little warning. Save herself, first and foremost. Her words often tend to be positive but it isn't normally reflected in her body language; under stress, she crumbles, stumbling over words and simply trying to find the way out. She isn't incredibly confident, but she is generally friendly; not necessarily shy, but socially smart enough to strike up a conversation, and give people advice. Though she is jovial and polite to most people, she doesn't tend to get too attached to anyone; she is incredibly paranoid, not trusting easily (with the notable exception of her dragon). As well as this, she is a secretive person, and doesn't particularly tell people the whole truth, omitting information that could make herself look bad, or in extreme cases, she flat out lies - never maliciously, simply only to protect herself.

HISTORY:
cw: very brief mentions of thread injuries/deaths
Miari's childhood, for the most part, was defined by the creche, as she was born to two weyrmated riders. Yet, there was no Thread falling, thus, her parents saw her fairly regularly throughout the early years of her life in between their own duties. As a toddler, she was first introduced to their dragons, falling in love immediately; they were just so cool to her! She'd already seen them overhead, yet, being up close to them was different entirely - a little frightening at first, but certainly less so after a while, once she'd realised they weren't here to hurt humans, but here to help them. Most of her childhood swept by, fairly uneventfully - it took her a while to strike up the confidence to talk to other kids in the creche, not really holding down a group of friends, preferring to stay at a civil arms length from most people.
At fifteen, she became a candidate; a dragonrider had confirmed her Search potential, and due to growing up on the Weyr, the life of a candidate wasn't the biggest culture shock to her. She picked up lessons fairly easily, she'd learned about how dragons exist to destroy this thing called Thread... and then, a turn later, Thread returned, and she'd realised how horrifying it truly was. A part of her considered backing out, perhaps she didn't want to put herself on the front lines of Thread after all - but at the same time she really liked dragons - which was, ultimately, what got her to stay. Especially considering she'd have at least some defense against Threadfall, with a dragon by her side.
At nineteen, she impressed to a green whose personality complimented hers well; very level-headed and strong, Seriath took no shards from anyone, and the two got along well. Weyrlinghood came with a lot of changes she had to adapt to quickly, and it sure was, generally, a lot to handle. Yet, she knew that at the end of it, it wouldn't exactly get easier - Threadfall was inevitable, they'd have to be up in the air, flaming to protect the people down below. She'd known all of this from lessons, but she was still intimidated by it all. She may have regret her choice to stay in Candidacy, ever so slightly; even if it was too late to back out. Yet, Seriath was her spot of hope. No matter what trials and tribulations came with dragonriding, she loved her and felt as though she could rely on her like nobody else. She had her own dragon, and they would get through the Pass, together.
She stayed at Igen upon graduating, trying her best to get used to Threadfall. A lot of repetition occurred; drilling, bathing, oiling, flaming - the turns flew by, and five turns after graduating, Threadfall started to rain particularly heavily upon the Weyr. Riders fell from the sky, and Miari knew that once a large portion of the wings had been taken out - whether they were injured or dead, she couldn't tell - she had to reposition. To protect herself and Seriath, she attempted to Between to flame the outer strands of Thread.
She did not return to Igen.
She Betweened to High Reaches, over a millennium and a half too late. Unaware of her new surroundings along with the changing and shifting times of the modern Weyr.
