Ryein is fairly short, and fairly scrawny. He comes across as even smaller because he's always slouching, as if he's actively trying to make himself smaller. They have a perpetually worried-looking expression and wears glasses. He has a broad nose and full lips, and a smattering of faint freckles on their face and shoulders. He tends to stick to more practical clothing and hairstyles, though he does like small flashes of jewelry, particularly in his hair as there's less chance of those getting caught on anything.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Ryein has what most might call an anxious personality. It seems as if he's always considering the worst-case scenario, always pointing out the flaws in any given plan. New people stress him out especially, as people are particularly unpredictable. As such, he tends to hide behind his brothers, whom he knows and trusts, preferring to stay in their shadows.
Perhaps ironically, Ryein is extremely good in a crisis. All his time worrying about what could be means that he's often thought through several possible contingencies for any given situation. He's rather proud of his ability to remain calm in those instances, and likes to think of himself as the quiet protector of his brothers as well as anyone else he comes to care about. He tends to be over-prepared for most situations, carrying around a pack of supplies in case anyone needs anything. He's a bit of a mom friend, and surprising no one, tends to fuss over people more than he needs to once he's decided a person's important to him. He only wants the best for people at the end of the day, and he doesn't believe these horrible things he thinks of will happen, but he'd rather prepare for them so that if they do everything will work out alright.

BIRTHPLACE: High Reaches Hold
HISTORY:
Ryein was the youngest of three in a large High Reaches family. He was born a little prematurely, and as a result was a sickly kid, not getting to spend as much time playing with the other kids. Between that and the many (loud, rambunctious) cousins always spending time around the place, Ryein was always a little on the quiet and shy side, not knowing how to assert himself or get involved in the various arguments and tussles that would inevitably crop up. He was always closest to his older brothers, who always looked out for him and made a point of including him when he was younger. He tried to return the favor by looking out for them as best he could, despite not being particularly big or strong.
As a kid, Ryein was relatively happy, but as he got older began to develop more of an anxious streak. Nothing especially traumatic happened to cause it, so their parents just came to the conclusion that it was a natural part of him, much like his older brother's pessimism. He often tried to keep bad things from happening to Pyeri specifically, though, so his brother wouldn't need to feel like the world was such a terrible place all the time.
Ryein never really gave the Weyrs much thought until the mudslide in 2774 ruined their home and forced them to relocate. Ryein thought he'd hate it; all those dragonkin around, with their sharp teeth and claws, with their flame and massive bodies that could crush a person so easily. Surprisingly, though, he found himself liking it more than not. There was plenty of space and resources, and outside of hatchings, it didn't seem like dragons were typically very viscous. As far as places to live, it seemed like one where people were more prepared for catastrophes than at Holds. He approved, and his brothers did to. So they agreed to stay there for the foreseeable future.
