"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be."

BASICS

NAME: Radagast
GENDER: Male
PRONOUNS: He/Him/His
ORIENTATION: Monogamous homosexual

BIRTHDATE: Winter 2710
AGE: 66 as of Winter 2776
LOCATION: Semaca Weyr
OCCUPATION: Wherhandler
WING: Pavane Squad

APPEARANCE
EYES: Green
HAIR: Brown/Gray
HEIGHT AND BUILD: 6'1 and a bit saggy.
PLAY-BY: Radagast (Lord of the Rings)
EXPY SOURCE: N/A
FULL APPEARANCE: Not exactly tall and far from limber, Radagast's physical appearance shows as somebody who is several turns older than they actually are. His peachy skin is pocketmarked whether by injury or liver stains. His nose is long, bulbous and always rosy. Long, unruly gray and brown hair with unfathomable depths weaves and curls about his form, extending to the center of his back and often intermingling with his equally ungroomed beard. This wild mane is woven with tangles and mats, as Radagast is not prone to sit there and maintain it when he could be doing other things that are useful. Even his eyes, as bright and green though they may be, are overshadows by insane eyebrows that flay outwards as whiskers with a mind of their own. His skin is stretched and soft. And saggy. It droops under his arms, his breasts and his potbelly stomach - although amusingly his legs are very taut and strong in spite of the frailness he otherwise portrays. Along his left leg is a gnarled scar roughly three inches wide stretching from mid-thigh to just below the knee. It hinders the use of the joint, making his gait very stiff to the point that he walks with the assistance of a large walking stick a foot taller than himself.

Radagast puts little forethought in his attire and usually is seen wearing something that makes no sense for the environment he's in. Heavy cloaks in summer? Sure, why not. It's anyone's guess why he hasn't had heat stroke by now.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Radagast is ... eccentric. His clothing? Mannerisms? Quirks? Everything, everywhere, all at once. Hygiene? Questionable. He has no sense of style and if often generally off-putting just because of his rather nosy personality. And it's not because he's looking for ammunition to be used against somebody else for a later date or anything like that. He's genuinely curious about everything about everybody - where they were born, what they like to do, their favorite color and smell. Radagast considers himself to be the best of the best friends. Whether other folks are as optimistic about him remains to be seen.

He detests conflict and will go out of his way to dodge it, if he can. This will be achieved by pulling the rug out of the opposing sides with complete and utter hospitality. Radagast would offer a holdless bandit putting a knife to his throat a hot cup of klah and some warm food. He'll sit fighting parties down to play a game of cards. There's no room for that bloodshed nonsense.

Radagast genuinely feels that Pern's youth is the key to a bright and loving future. As such, he pours his heart and soul into teaching the younglings beneath him the art of peace over war, of dialogue over knife-wielding. He strives to earn the trust of the younger generation because, in a way, he sees them as his actual children. Radagast's attempts to foster the bond between himself and others include rather unpredictable and tame ways to get the ice broken. Trust falls! Games! Hot cocoa (or whatever the Pern equivalent is) and joyful stories of times long past! Hide and seek! Tension doesn't fit in the world anymore, and Radagast wants to pave the path to ensure that it goes away and never returns.

He also loves children, and delights in mentoring them when given the opportunity.

The unfortunate ticking of time means that he is subject to the wear and tear it exhibits on his person. Radagast is starting to get the tiniest bit senile. He is beginning to forget things that would not escape his mind beforehand. While it is only surface-level, it does mean that he may ask somebody their name several times in the same encounter or forget where he put his staff.

HISTORY
FAMILY:
Nihelgo - father (92, still kicking!)
Vixxie - mother (88, still kicking!)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Alatar - [male, 68]
BIRTHPLACE: Tillek
HISTORY: TW: Death Radagast was born into Tillek, which had some of its roots steeped heavily into Fishercraft. His own family was among their ranks. Radagast grew with the comfort of the sea lapping at his toes and found peace with a fishing rod between his hands. Life was pleasant and simple and he could not hope for more, nor did he wish it. No danger ... no Thread ... no strife. But bad things come in threes, and they came tumbling down like boulders down a mountainside.

When the initial blight and subsequent wherry culls took hold, Radagast and his family never really starved. But they began to fish in excess to distribute to those in need. But without the proper nutrition supplied by vegetables and fruits, vitamin deficiency ran rampant. Scurvy was among the ailments that took a toll on Tillek. Radagast suffered with the rest, pulling through on the bare minimum.

When Radagast turned 20 and the calamity appeared to finally cease, he was Searched as a potential candidate for Fort Weyr. It wasn't long after that High Reaches Weyr annexed land under Fort's jurisdiction, sparking a bloody war that would last for decades.

For 5 long turns he would stand on the Sands hoping to become Bonded to a dragon. In the meanwhile, the sky was filled with flecks of red and horrid screams. Dragon upon dragon, man upon man. Radagast had seen his fair share of death - some instances before his own eyes - and taken part in quite a few ground scuffles to protect himself and his own. It churned his stomach. Once he aged out of candidacy at 25, he immediately vacated Fort Weyr.

Tillek was a welcome sight but it was no longer the same with war time tensions. Fearful eyes loomed skyward with every distant sight of dragon wings. What could Radagast do in that troubled era, but fish and cast his worried out with the line?

In 2754, their crew were met with a merchant ship that just docked in Tillek. Their goods were paltry, but his eyes fell upon a wher egg that looked with each thread of gold to be a tightly woven bird's nest. Captivated, he purchased it. A feeble little blue spilled out within the sevenday of tender care - so weak and quiet. Radagast felt pity on the creature. He forged the blood bond to seal their fate together, and the blue became Radask. With proper care, Radask regained strength and became a formidable blue.

His entire livelihood had to shift to accommodate his Bonded's nocturnal habits. When the moon began lapping at the horizon, Radagast would cast out to the ocean with Radask and throw anchor about a mile out. They would fish in darkness with glow worms to light the deck and return as the sun awoke. Radask revealed an unusual talent at night: vocal mimicry of the sea birds that glided loftily overhead.

The following turn came with a ceasefire between the Weyrs, but only because Thread returned. Radagast realized he had a duty to Pern, having bonded to a wher, and returned to Fort Weyr. Thread fell one eve Radagast was scored severely on the left leg while partaking in ground crew duties. He would not lose the limb but acquired a heavy limp and an impressive scar.

When the Mad Gods reigned, war was once again knocking on his doorstep. He took part in the combat from the ground, although it was only to protect his fellow weyrfolk from assault. The quiet that came in the wake of Golre's demise was tempered by Radagast's conviction to never let something like that happen again if it were within his power to prevent it.

Three Turns later, there was plague. Once again the graves were being dug. Radagast himself fell ill, but managed to claw his way into convalescence and make a full recovery. And then there was Vaughnairth and the fight that came from him, ultimately resulting in the cracking of the egg. Soon Benden Weyr was also stirring the pot. Two riders were kidnapped, one threatened with execution. And then Semaca Weyr was established.

Warm weather? Sunshine? His leg was screaming every time the cold weather began to bite. The unstoppable torrent of conflict was aching his heart. It was time to make a move and change his life for the better - to a location that would hopefully act as a balm to his body and mind. Radagast left Fort Weyr with Radask, claiming Semaca as his home.

Just in time to witness the floods.

Radagast joined the Pavane Squad. He assisted with the rebuilding once the waters receded, disappointed from the lack of Northern aid as that meant the Summerlands were well and truly on their own ... But then a ship appeared. Pirates! Help came to them from the most unexpected of places. It was then that he met Alatar and fell deeply, madly in love. They've been weyrmates since 2770.

Between dragon clutches and the indoctrination of pirates into their brood to start new lives, Radagast has high hopes for Semaca Weyr. At long last, he feels he can put down his sorrow of a world gone wrong and start working to rebuild something right.

RADASK
Image

BASICS

NAME: Radask
BIRTHDATE Early Spring 2754
AGE: 22 as of Early Spring 2776

APPEARANCE
LENGTH: 12ft
HEIGHT: 4.5ft
COLOR: Blue
HEX CODE: #81DBFD
FULL APPEARANCE: Radask is a small blue. What he lacks in girth he makes up for in agility. He's a fast land runner and strong in the legs. The majority of his body is covered in a swathe of bright azure. Deep denim runs the length of his back, splaying off from his spine in stripes that just touch the tip of his thick neck muscles and chase his ribs. They taper off about three quarters down his tail. At the apex of his ribs and the beginning of his tail, thick rivets of that denim converge both upon his sternum and frontal pelvis, as if forming a protective chest plate and loin clothe of blue. The entirety of his large cranium and backs of his wobbly wings share the same depth as the stripes.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Being meek in size does nothing to taint his personality. He is bright, cheery, and very outspoken for a wher of incomplete sentences. Radask is a social butterfly to seemingly everything. He will attempt conversation with bugs and canines and fish and especially avians - although it is a one-sided attempt. When he was a whelp, this blue wher developed the ability of vocal mimicry with his feathered friends. Radask is talkative with no sense of personal space. He's all up in your business, all the time.

To Radagast, Radask is very much an attempted lap dog if they came in wher size. He loves his human with every fiber of his being and is enthusiastic with every undertaking Radagast might entertain, no matter how crazy it may seem. The two are peas in a pod, inseparable from the moment he was born.
