For someone so young, his eyes are piercing, scrutinizing. He keeps a neutral face the majority of the time, trained to keep himself under control under the gaze of non-family or group members. He's often covered in scrapes and scratches due to his active and outgoing nature, but he does well to make sure he doesn't get too badly injured.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: The Holdless boy is boisterous a lot of the time, with an energy that was more used to help keep his group alive. He's trained in hunting, as well as basic combat, and he excels at it due to his high energy levels. He is not, however, very good at more concentration based activities, such as reading or writing. He is also very food motivated, and would be willing to work for a hearty meal a lot of the time. But it also sparks curiosities that might disgust those brought up in Weyrs... For example, he has caught himself wondering what dragon meat tastes like...
Ollie, having grown up in a larger Holdless community, is not adverse to cramped living conditions or inter-personal squabbles. If anything, they make him feel more at home. However, he doesn't really get into the politics that surround the higher ups and their choices when it comes to leading the Fort. It's not that he doesn't care, he just doesn't have the patience for such things. He's a doer, not a thinker.
He and his Holdless 'siblings' have been brought up on the ideal of self-sufficiency. He's used to sharing, but also not used to the ( unprompted ) generosity of others. He will treat any 'gift' with scrutiny unless he can easily identify the gift-giver and the gift itself as 'safe'. On the topic of self sufficiency, Ollie can make companions whom he can trust to take care of themselves and him in times of need. The idea of a 'friend', however, is not one he's used to. As a Holdless, he fully expects those who live in a Hold to not be kind or trust him. He has been raised to give all newcomers a fair shot at proving themselves and hopes the ones he works with to give him the same chance.
Ultimately, Ollie is a work minded individual. Regardless of the opinion of others, he will do his work to the best of his ability. No matter the task, he will not rest until his job is done.

HISTORY: Ollie's life is one of survival and growth.
The boy was born to the name Olivi, much to his chagrin. He eventually made it known that he was a man, which was met with some confusion from some of the elders but overall acceptance.
He grew up in a group of other children, though it was accepted among the group that anyone too young would stay under the watch of an adult. Among the group, he learned about the world around him. What to hunt, what to stay away from... He was even lucky enough to encounter a Harper travelling between holds who seemed to think that 'the poor Holdless children' needed educating. While Ollie himself thought she was full of herself, he couldn't deny she was good at her job. She'd exchanged a quick lesson and some learning materials in exchange for a place to rest and food to eat. Normally, not too valuable to them, but this would help generations to learn even the slightest basics of reading, writing, and math...
As he grew, he learned to help the group with camp upkeep and hunting, working himself as hard as he could to keep everyone fed. But as their group grew and children grew up, he started to notice that it was getting harder and harder to keep everyone fed and cared for. Due to the recent fires and drought, life was tougher. Even the snooty Holdfolk were suffering.
With another set of children on the way, he knew that something had to give. As much as he didn't want to live in the Holds, it wasn't feasible to start up another colony of Holdless unless he had a partner and a set destination in mind. He wasn't the only one to notice, but he was one of the first to make his move.
So he started to look for a place to settle. Leaving the camp was rough but he knew it had to be done. It was really hard for him to lie at first, but frankly, the Holdfolk were easy to fool. Tug on their heartstrings, say that he'd lost his Cothold and needed a place to stay. He was a hard worker and soon was able to blend right in. It wasn't hard to pick up their mannerisms, so long as he made sure to keep his eyes and head down.
It just so happened that he eventually encountered a Searchdragon visiting the Hold, and saw a chance at something even better than just work. He saw a chance to work with Whers. His family had never owned or housed a Wher, but he'd helped care for some after his group and another group had to live together for a while. He frankly found them fascinating and incredibly relatable creatures, and actually wanted to try and work with them more closely.
He did not hesitate to ask the Searchdragon and rider he met with to please take him with them. He knew this might be his only shot at working with whers, do MORE than just deal with mundane Hold life. It didn't take long to convince them, and he eventually found himself on his way on the dragon's back. With little more than the clothes on his back and his hunting knife, he gladly rode the dragon to his new life.
