Diamond is a tall woman who holds herself in a confident and self-possessed manner. She tends to wear her dark brown hair long and loose, tying it back in a ponytail if she absolutely must. She has beautiful dark brown eyes, tanned skin, and a well-defined jawline. She's slender, and tends to wear darker colors that hug her frame, sticking to simple but well-tailored clothes. She doesn't have much in the way of curves, but is quite toned from over a decade as a rider.

Diamond is a woman who comes across as someone who has it all together, who's definitely too cool to listen to anything she doesn't want to, a rebel. And she certainly can be. She's not afraid to try things other people don't approve of, to get her hands dirty, or to resort to underhanded tricks just to win a fight, but for all her projected confidence she can be quite insecure. She often tells people that they shouldn't do things just because people expect them to, but she herself is guilty of doing so more often than not.
Diamond is by equal measures desperate for love, and afraid of being hurt. She doesn't really know how to tell other people 'no', instead opting to concoct painfully transparent lies in an attempt to spare their feelings. When she's hurt or told no, though, she will lash out at other, uninvolved people, or else do something reckless without a care for the consequences. She doesn't fall in love with every woman she sees, but she still falls in love fairly easily, and is often hurt just as easily. She does love a challenge, though - both in love and other parts of life - and would much rather be the pursuer than the pursued.
When she can be made to focus on a task, though, she is dedicated and single-minded in her pursuit of getting it done. She doesn't really care if people get hurt as long as they aren't her people, but luckily her moral compass is usually fairly easily influenced by other people, so as long as everyone around her cares about it, she'll make an effort not to let others get hurt by her actions.

Born in 2741, Diamond was the only child of a family of sailors and fishermen from Balen Hold. The adults in her life would all regale her with stories from a young age of their travels, expecting her to join them someday. None of them owned their own ship, and so took work on other people's ships as parts of the crew. Sometimes, when work was slow, some of them would go to work for pirate ships as well, an open secret at least among the family. A young Diamond was [i]adamant[i] that she wanted to be a pirate when she grew up, until she learned that it unfortunately was nothing like the stories, and did not mostly entail fighting evil holders and rescuing their beautiful daughters.
When she was sixteen, Diamond tried working on her first (reputable) ship. Her family bought her a firelizard egg in celebration which hatched her faithful companion, the unusual colored Skud. She loved the little flit, but the part about being a sailor...not so much. She hated it, in fact. Her family all assured her that it would take some getting used to, and as she built up her muscles and sea legs, it would get easier. As the turns went on, it did get easier, but she found she still didn't like it very much. When she was twenty one, she was starting to seriously consider maybe joining a pirate ship despite the added dangers when a Searchrider's visit happened to coincide with her presence back at her home port of Balen, and she was considered suitable. It was less than a turn since the death of Golre and the complete overturning of High Reaches political structure, and they were in desperate need of candidates to replenish their ranks. Her family were thrilled to hear that they might one day have a dragonrider in the family and pushed her to go. Deciding that it sounded like a dashing adventure, she agreed to go.
Hyliath hatched two turns later, choosing her, and Diamond has never looked back or regretting her decision to come to High Reaches. Sure, the Weyr has had its ups and downs, but Hyliath has enjoyed throwing herself into the thick of things and helping where she can. And Diamond has loved her newfound sense of freedom. Being a dragonrider is the sort of adventure she's always wanted and dreamed of. Now if only she could find a beautiful woman to sweep off her feet, everything would be just perfect.
