FULL APPEARANCE: Everything about this woman is pointed and sharp: from the angle of her chin to the dourness of her gaze. It's easy to spot her beauty in the room. Piercing blue eyes could split your soul down the middle. Her hair, a brilliant copper that has shimmers of red under direct sunlight, sways all the way down to her hips. K'ioyo typically keeps the ungainly mass tied into a tight ponytail or bun. She has a delicate, shapely figure and has no misgivings about flaunting it in all its glory. Most of her attire clings to her well-defined curves or is spattered with such colors and patterns that would compliment her own looks.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Faranth, where to even begin? K'ioyo is headstrong, and not in a mild way either. Stubborn, conceited, and scheming with just a hint of kleptomania. She's far from one who will sit back and wait for the world to spit out a favor in her direction. Heck no, she'll go out and seize it with (or without) consent. K'ioyo doesn't have much respect for personal property unless its her own. "What's your's is mine! What's mine is still mine!"
Default mood? Pessimistic anger. She'd like to consider herself pragmatic but let's face it - most of her plans are half-baked and doomed to fail, likely owing to the fact that she horribly underestimates her situations or the people she may be rivaling against. K'ioyo is exceptionally proud of her long, beautiful hair and 'vivacious good looks' and can be driven to blind rage if her physical attributes become damaged. Her drive to become Weyrwoman is a deep-seated longing for all the wrong reasons - longing for popularity and not so much all the work that comes with it. Semaca may not have one but ... will that stop her? Not in a long shot.
Despite K'ioyo's caustic outer layer, she has a longing to love and be loved. She pines to share her life with some dashing Prince Charming doting on her ever need. She tends to bet on the wrong partners - often - and can be ridiculously blind to what's directly in front of her.
Speaking of! K'rio. Of him, her dragon, her fire-lizard and even Meowth, K'ioyo is ruthlessly protective. Although they may drive her nuts and their relationships are anything but perfect, K'ioyo champions them and will often coach them self-confidence. She is extremely comfortable with K'rio, regarding him as the closest thing to family since her mother passed so many turns ago.

SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Complicated situationship
BIRTHPLACE: A cothold in the Northern Barrier Mountains
HISTORY: TW: Death.
Ioto was a nomadic by heart. She spent the vast majority of her life traveling the wilds of Pern, taking on with a caravan that grew in number and establishing herself as a trader. Over the turns their numbers fluctuated, seeing some retire to Holds small and large while still more took their place. Ioto found love with multiple partners who waxed and waned like the moon. One hapless encounter left her with child. Thus Kukioyo was born on the winding road - fatherless, as her sire was not want for commitment as so many of Ioto's lovers had been.
Ioto strived her best to care for her fledgling while maintaining her deep wanderlust. It became clear during harsh winters and uncertain ventures that Kukioyo needed a more stable environment to flourish in. Shortly after her babe's first birthday, Ioto took her business savvy and gathered goods to plant roots down at the base of the Northern Barrier Mountains, meshing in with the little cothold that had been established there by the older members of their caravan. Relations with other members were good enough for her to trust Kukioyo's care into their hands. Ioto could not contain herself to one location for long. Soon, she heeded the call of the wild with a caravan formed from young blood. She hesitated on bringing her daughter with her for fear of the unknowns lurking the wilds. But she found it impossible to separate with Kukioyo, even under the care of her trusted peers, and so the caravan gained a toddler troop member.
Then when Kukioyo was four, Thread emerged in silvery strands from the sky. And with it, dragons! Beautiful fire searing the threat! The smell of sulfur, the intensity and adrenaline of being caught in the open while the Weyrs fought above (and receiving a tongue-lashing for such a dangerous feat). When the winter thawed in 2758, Kukioyo fell ill with a respiratory illness. Ioto had to venture with the caravan. She left her daughter with the cothold to recover, where she would be under the shared caregiving - the 'creche' - of those inhabitants too old or sickly to travel. It was the last Kukioyo saw her alive. Straggling members from the traders' band returned with only a third of their men and half the runners. An avalanche swept most of them away - Ioto included. Those taken did not survive.
Kukioyo was young at the time and did not quite understand the tragedy that befell her mother, nor was she able to process it in a healthy manner. As she grew, she acted out. The wild redhead's temperament became so tumultuous that her foster family struggled to keep up with her. Yet her tantrums evolved into thrown fists and petty theft. Unhappy and uncontrollable, Kukioyo had enough in 2764, swiping enough provisions to last her a few sevendays and a fire-lizard egg from the clueless old man tending to her at the time. The joke was on her since the egg was actually intended as a bribe from her foster grandfather, who found out about the 'theft' and sat her down for a good long talk. He urged her to take a place with the new caravan, explaining that getting out in the world to see its wonders - and terrors - might temper her iron. It got through to her. Kukioyo and the newly-hatched garnet, named Ekans, left in the following spring.
At 16, her paths crossed with Kakario. They were both in same Hold at the same time and met by sheer chance. Kukioyo immediately found a kinship and closeness with him that could not be felt with anybody else and whether he was aware of it or not, it led her to stay rooted to the spot for longer than a season. When dragonriders Searched Kakario, she was hit with a sudden and intense despair of being left along again - but it was short-lived, as the creature seemed to find her suitable for candidacy as well. The pair set off for Ista Weyr, where they met Meowth and quickly became an unbreakable trio ... and degenerates, as their environment and personalities turned them into little imps who caused trouble when and where they could. Of course they stood for clutches, yet no dragons looked their way. At least not until 2770, when garnet Mareath claimed the newly-dubbed K'rio with daggers piercing into Kukioyo's soul.
It was Mareath who pulled K'rio away. It was Mareath who uttered sweet nothings and turned him against her. It was Mareath who ultimately fractures the seemingly steel bond that once tethered them together. Meowth and Kukioyo were both ignored while K'rio's rose-colored glasses could see only his dragon. Burned and betrayed, she left. Kukioyo transferred to Telgar Weyr as soon as the chance came. When bitter winds heralded winter's approach, blue Wobbuffeth with her malformed wings found her on the sands. She was K'ioyo! His K'ioyo!
Intense weyrling training and eventual graduation did little to pull her memories of Ista, of K'rio, and of Meowth. She tossed herself into relationships with others, seeking 'the one and only' as a means of filling that void without relief. When the option of transferring opened up to her, K'ioyo planted her ears to the ground - or rather, Ekans to the air, for she would become a little spy seeking bits of information potentially leading to K'rio's new location. He wasn't at Ista anymore. Not Benden (thank Faranth!) nor Fort or High Reaches. Ekans returned with clues indicating he'd transferred to Semaca. So that was what K'ioyo was going to do, to! She was going to go to the Summerlands and tell K'rio exactly how pissed off she was at his whershit antics!
