- Standing at 5'3" in height, Keir is stunted in comparison to the rest of his family. His build is slim and somewhat weak-seeming, although he is not as frail as he seems. His skin is somewhat tanned and covered with freckles. His dark brown hair is curly and falls just shy of his shoulders, although he does sometimes pull it back. His eyes are dark and intense. He dresses unobtrusively, in neutral colors and conservative cuts.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
- Keir is shy and uncertain, especially around new people. He gets overwhelmed easily in crowds. Generally speaking, he is introverted and does not do well with being in charge; however, he is an excellent follower, very content to let others take the lead and just tag along with what others have planned.
If you get to know him Keir is incredibly sweet and loyal. He is a gentle soul who is open-minded almost to a fault. He is warm and loving and he wants to be friends with those around him. Despite this, he is very tense most of the time with an anxious nature.
Creative and expressive, Keir loves to draw and paint. What he is thinking and feeling can often be deduced from his artwork. He also writes poetry and short stories, often thematically linked to what is going on in his life.
Keir does not speak, but is a solid writer and uses gestures and signs. He does not like to be particularly wordy in his communication; a few words at a time is generally all that can be gotten out of him unless he is expressing himself artistically. While you might get a proper sonnet or short story out of him on paper, when it comes to actually communicating with others he is succinct at the best of times and completely uncommunicative when he's too stressed out.

BIRTHPLACE: A cothold beholden to Fort
HISTORY:
- Keir was born the second of five children to Roakir and Kiayva. Roakir was the head of their cothold, populated by his family and those of his two brothers, and they were all quite comfortable although Roakir was a busy man. Keir was far smaller and weaker than his older brother and was not expected to survive. Somewhat surprisingly, however, Keir thrived and made it past his first nameday - without saying a word. His parents are concerned but at first thought that they might wait it out.
When Keir was three, a third son, Akyv, joined the family. He was, like Roav before him, healthy and thriving. Keir, however, still wasn’t talking, and his parents called for a Healer; the Healer pronounced Keir healthy and told his parents not to give up hope as he may simply be delayed.
When he was five the family welcomed a girl, Irayva. Two turns later a second girl, Roya, joined the family.
Keir still wasn’t talking. At the same time, however, he was learning to write quite well, and he drew quite a bit. He was an open and expressive child on paper; it was only verbally that he was closed up.
At eight, Keir saw a Healer again. The Healer suggested that Keir might do well with a firelizard to encourage him to come out of his shell somewhat. He Impressed a small green flit he called Leaf, and while he did not magically begin talking he did very well with the firelizard.
Life continued uneventfully, and slowly the family came to accept that Keir was simply silent. He learned sign language and continued to express himself artistically, but not in person-to-person interactions. He was also shy and not particularly authoritative; it was likely best that he was not the eldest child and would not follow in his father’s footsteps leading the cothold where they lived.
His parents despaired of Keir ever finding his place in life, but they needn’t have worried. No sooner had he turned fifteen than he was Searched, and although there was some trepidation over his lack of verbal communication he was taken to Fort Weyr to be a candidate. That gave Keir both purpose and direction in life, but secretly he had to wonder what sort of dragon would want a silent rider.
